Quinn POV
It's Wednesday now and I've been avoiding Harry well the past few days.
I keep his texts on 'do not disturb', so I don't see his name pop up on my phone. I haven't read any of his messages because I'd be tempted to talk to him. I know he's come over a few times because he'd ring the door bell and knock twice.
If I have to leave my house I'd do it when he's at work, so I don't bump into him.
Today is the first day of school, which I'm a little nervous for. This is my last year of high school, and the thought of college scares me a little.
I walk through the hallway of my high school with a friendly smile on my lips. I get some hello's from people in the halls, and I return the hello back.
I stand by my locker and open it. I place my binders on my shelf that I put in last week while I was here. I put a mirror on the door of my locker to see how I look like when I stop by. I can check my makeup and hair, which helps me not become paranoid throughout the day.
"Hey!" I hear a peppy voice comment beside me. I glance to my side and see Joy standing next to me.
"Hi." I say with a gentle grin. My outfit I've had picked out since August and it's a maroon long sleeve that's tight. It's tucked into a floral skirt that matches well. I overall think it's my outfit is nice, but not over the top. My shoes are maroon flats and I have a few bracelets and rings that I'm wearing as well.
"You look cute." My friend compliments.
"Thank you. You do as well," I say with a gentle smile. My eyes look to Kay who walks down the hall. I look away from Kay and to Joy. "Anyways, make sure to promote student counsel to everyone. I need other people to run for president with me so I just don't win it."
"Don't you want to win it?" Joy asks me.
"Yes, but I want people to vote for me because they want too. Not because I'm the only one they can pick." I tell my friend who chuckles a little.
"I'll be promoting homecoming if anything." I sigh by my friends words and close my locker. I start fixing my hair once I become worried about it.
"Are we sitting at our usual table at lunch?" I ask Joy.
"Yep," She says. "I'll see you during second period. I told David I'd help him finish his Biology lab report before homeroom starts," I snicker a little by her words and nod. She walks away and I glance to Kay who's talking to some male juniors that are apart of the soccer team.
"Hey." I hear a voice beside me say. I know who that voice belongs to, and I don't want to look at him.
"Can I help you?" I ask with a peppy voice and friendly smile.
Harry's eyebrows furrow by my words. "Oh, now you're pretending you don't me?" He asks.
"All I am doing is asking if I can help you with something." I say in the same voice that seems to be pissing him off.
"Yes, you've been avoiding my texts." Harry brings up.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I've been hanging out with my friends, I haven't had a chance to even read them." I say. His eyes roll by my words.
"Can we talk later?" He asks me.
"I'm not sure. I have somethings to do." I say.
"Like?" His eyebrow raises.
"I have to start promoting my campaign for class president and I have to take some photos for the year book." I answer.
"After school then?" He asks. His green eyes meet mine, but I look away from his stare.
"I'm not sure." I say. Harry bites his lower, pink lip and runs his hand through his hair.
"Isn't it convenient that right before school starts you acting like this?" He asks with narrowed eyes.
"Act like what?" I ask, confused by what he means.
"Act like I have to be part of your schedule, when you're usually free for anything," Harry says. "Look, I can use my time on something or someone else Quinn. I'm not waiting around forever for you to finally read my texts or not be mad at me."
"Welcome to the club," I mumble. It's loud enough for him to hear, so Harry rolls his eyes. "You want to spend your time on someone else?" I ask.
A gentle smirk goes on his mouth. "You think I can't?"
"Did I say that?" I ask. "Fine, feel free to spend your time with someone else. Maybe you'd respond to their texts when there is a problem."
"Is that you saying whatever we have is over with?" Harry asks me. I remain silent by his words and press my books against my chest more. "I guess we were just summer flings then."
Harry walks away and I stay still, biting my lower lip.
***
The only class I have with Harry is English, and that's the last period of the day. It's period six now, and I'm at lunch.
While I sit at the table that have my friends I scroll through the texts I've told myself not to read.
*sunday*
Harry: i'm sorry for what i said today
Harry: i was dumb for saying that
Harry: you don't have to reply to me now, but just know I feel bad
*monday*
Harry: good morning
Harry: i purposely texted you now because i know you wake up at 7, so by the time you wake up you'd get a text from me
Harry: i know it's been only a day, if that, but i dont like you being mad at me
Harry: i said this before, but i was an idiot for saying that to you
Harry: :( i'm sorry
*monday afternoon*
Harry: i hate spamming your phone but idk what else to do
Harry: i knocked on your door and you didn't answer
Harry: and ik youre home , your car is in the driveway
Harry: can we at least talk? I miss you
*tuesday*
Harry: text number 1000000
Harry: how long are you going to ignore me for?
Harry: :(
Harry: you mean a lot to me and you know that quinn
Harry: or quinta
Harry: ha ha get it?
Harry: :( please answer me
Harry: i think about you a lot, so what i said was a lie. I just didn't answer because i didn't like how i overreacted at the club and assumed you'd be out with Richard because you want to be
Harry: did i mention i miss you?
I lock my phone and bite the insides of my cheeks.
I glance up from my screen and see Joy looking at me with furrowed eyebrows. I play off my sadness with a gentle grin. She gives me one back then goes back to talking to the other people at our table.
I look around the room and lay my eyes on Harry. He's seated at a table with I assume his friends. He's talking to some girls across from him. I can't read his face or anything, he's too far away.
What makes my heart pinch is Kay walking over to that table and sitting beside him. From here I can see her hand slip on top of his on the table.
I fucked up.
