"Hey" I heard Theo whisper to Scott, who was at the desk next to me.

I looked over at them both with a frown.

"I need to talk to you about something"

"You okay?" Scott asked, concern evident in his voice.

"Yeah it's not really about me" Theo said. "But it's probably something I should have told you a long time ago"

"What is it?"

"It's about Stiles"

My eyes widened as I looked at Theo, trying to get him to shut up, but his attention was focused outside.

"Do you hear that?" Scott questioned.

Theo frowned. "Is that the police?"

"It's an ambulance"

I looked over at the two boys. "Ambulance?"

I spotted Mason in the crowd of people and I pushed through people to reach him.

"He just started bleeding everywhere" My brothers best friend said in shock.

I looked over to see Corey on the stretcher. Covered in Mercury.

"Don't let them do it" Corey choked. "Don't let them kill me!"

"Scott, we have to follow them" Theo said. "We gotta protect him right. Scott, come on"

"Scott!" I waved my hand in front of my unresponsive friends face.

"Scott, this is what you do!" Theo exclaimed.

Scott nodded and the two of them headed back inside with the crowd.

"Hey, Mase. It's gonna be okay, I promise. Trust me"

He only stared at me in shock but I couldn't console him any further because I had to catch up with Theo and Scott.

"Hey, wait!" I yelled after the two of them.

They ignored me.

Rude.

"Guys!" I yelled, pushing through the crowd until I crashed straight into my brother.

"Kara, get out of here"

"You get out of here"

"I'm getting out of here when I find Hayden"

"Well hurry up!" I yelled at my brother before I was practically carried off through the crowd. "Love you!" I shouted back.

Liam rolled his eyes at me and I laughed.

"Sorry" I said, slipping through the crowd. "Excuse me. Sorry"

I spotted the boys in the parking lot and jogged over.

"Hey assholes wait up!"

I reached them as they paused by Theo's car.

"Give me a second" I said, trying to catch my breath. Running definitely wasn't my forte. "Okay, I'm good. Let's go"

"Wait" Theo said.

"What?" I groaned.

"Maybe you should stay here"

"Hmm. How about no" I reached over to open Theo's car door but he placed his hand over mine.

"I did this self defence class last year. I can kick some ass" I said.

"Really?" Theo raised his eyebrows.

"She actually did. And she's quite-" Scott started.

I pushed my elbow back, slamming it against Theo's chest.

Theo let go of my hand and doubled over in pain.

"Point proved"

I smiled innocently and opened the car door, sliding into the back seats.

"Hey, what did you want to talk to me about?" Scott asked, breaking the silence. 

"Nothing. He didn't want to talk to you about anything" I said, shooting a warning look at Theo as he looked at me from the rear-view mirror.

"It can wait" Theo said.

"If something's wrong, you should tell me. We've all got to start talking to each other again" Scott replied.

"This might not be the best place to start, Scott"

"You think I'm going to be angry?" Scott asked.

"Not with me" Theo replied.

"Theo, you can talk to me" Scott said.

"No he can't" I interjected.

"Open the glove compartment" Theo instructed.

Scott slowly reached over and opened it, pulling out a wrench.

"It belonged to Stiles" Theo said. "He dropped it at the school"

"Dropped it when?" Scott asked.

"Theo" I hissed. "Theo don't do this"

"When he killed Donovan"

"What are you talking about?" Scott asked.

"You know he hurt his shoulder, right?" Theo said. "You smelled the blood"

"Theo stop it!" I exclaimed.

"That was the Jeep. He said the Jeep's hood fell on him" Scott said.

"No, no, no, that was Donovan" Theo corrected. "He went after Stiles at the library. I only saw the end of it. And when I saw what Stiles was doing I couldn't stop him. I shouldn't- I shouldn't be telling you this. You should hear this from him"

"Tell me"

"I saw Donovan go down. Stiles hit him with the wrench and then he just- he just kept hitting him" Theo said. "Uh, maybe it was because he-he threatened to kill his dad. Or maybe Stiles thought he had to keep going to defend himself, but he just- he kept hitting him"

Scott shook his head. "That's not possible"

"No it's not" I said. "Stiles said it was an accident" I frowned, thinking back to what Stiles had told me the other day.

"He crushed that kid's skull. I heard it cracking and splintering. By the time I pulled Stiles off him, half of Donovan's head was caved in. It didn't even look real"

"That's not how Stiles told it to me!" I argued. "Scott listen to me-"

"That's because he didn't want you to know what really happened! And I covered it up for him but I know I shouldn't have. I keep telling myself that it was self-defense- It was self-defense" Theo stuttered. "But Scott, Kara, I'm sorry. I've never seen anything like it. And I've never seen anyone that angry"

"He wouldn't-" I started but cut off.

If Theo was lying, Scott would have picked up on it by now.

"You-You should talk to Stiles" Theo said. "You have to talk to him"

The three of us headed into the hospital to be met with complete and utter chaos.

"They're already here" I breathed out in shock.

Theo shook his head. "This wasn't them"

"It was Corey" Scott said. "Okay, let's split up and look for him" he said before taking off in the other direction.

"What the hell was that" I snapped at Theo once Scott had disappeared out of sight. "Why did you tell Scott?"

"I'm sorry but he needed to know"

"It wasn't your choice to tell him!"

"You both needed the truth" he said. "Look I'm sorry. Trust me, it's better that you both know"

I didn't know what to say.

I always believed Stiles when he said it was an accident.

Now I'm not so sure.

"Come on let's find Corey"

We headed down the corridors, me very far behind Theo after almost passing out because of the amount I had to run.

Finally, we reached Scott.

"Security's still looking" he said.

"We haven't seen anything either" Theo told him.

Our attention all turned to the elevator doors which were opening and closing repeatedly.

The three of us shared a worried look.

"Now they're here"

I paused when I saw Corey's body slumped against an ambulance.

The boys headed on, kneeling next to him, but I stayed back.

This kid. The kid we tried to help. Someone who I talked to. The guy that Mason clearly liked.

He was dead.

"Hey" I jumped out of my thoughts when I heard Theo's voice. "You okay?"

"He's dead" I said in disbelief.

"Kara-"

"I can't- I can't do this anymore" I shook my head. "How do you do this? How can you look at another dead body. Someone we actually knew! How can you do that?"

"Come here" Before I could resist, Theo had pulled me into a hug.

"I don't want to do this anymore" I said, tears filling up in my eyes. "I can't watch any more people die"

Liam had text Scott frantically to say he was with Hayden and that the doctors were coming after them, so the three of us immediately headed to the car and drove to Sinema.

As soon as we pulled up, I reached for the car door handle.

Scott was already outside and running into the club but I heard Theo flick a switch and the safety locks going down.

"What the hell are you doing?" I asked, trying to open the door.

"It's not safe. The doctors, they're dangerous. I can't let you get hurt" Theo said.

"My brother is in there!" I yelled desperately.

"We'll help him. You just gotta stay here, okay"

"No"

"I'm sorry" he opened his door and got out, slamming it shut behind him.

Leaving me locked in.

"Theo!" I yelled. "Theo you shit open the door!"

He looked back at me once more and then turned in the other direction to Sinema.

I groaned in frustration, trying to think rationally.

Liam is in there. My younger brother is in there. I have to know he's okay. He has to be okay.

"Okay there's got to be spares in here" I mumbled to myself, searching through all the compartments.

I was about to give up when my hand touched something key-shaped.

I pulled it out and sighed in relief when I saw it was the spare set of keys.

"That was easy" I mumbled.

Too easy.

I clicked the button and the car unlocked. I climbed out of the car and slammed the door shut, running into Sinema.

When I stepped inside, Scott was on the floor and Theo was fighting one of the dread doctors.

I ran over to Scott, kneeling down next to him.

"Hey" I shook him. "Hey Scotty"

The lights flickered on and my friend groaned, sitting up.

"Where's Hayden?" He asked.

"Where's Liam?" I added. 

"How the hell did you get out?" Theo questioned.

I held up the spare set of keys and he sighed, snatching them out of my hand.

"This way" Scott said, heading through the club.

As soon as I saw my brother and Hayden I sighed in relief.

"Thank god" I mumbled, pulling Liam into a hug. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" I asked, checking him over.

"I'm fine, Kara" he smiled. Then he turned to Scott. "I saw the needle go in. Her eyes just filled up with Mercury. They turned completely silver"

"Well she looks okay" Theo said. "Maybe she'll heal"

"Or maybe she won't" Scott said.

"What if something's happening to her on the inside?" Liam asked.

Scott sighed and looked at Theo and I. "Get them to the Animal Clinic. I'll meet you there"

"Keep her awake" Theo instructed as he drove. "I don't think it's a good idea for her to fall asleep"

"Hayden? Hayden, you gotta stay awake" Liam said.

"I'm so tired" I heard her mumble.

"Yeah, I know, but you can't go to sleep"

"How do we help her?" I asked.

"I don't know" Theo admitted. "When it's wolfsbane poisoning, you burn it out. But I don't know anything about mercury. Especially a kind that's probably been altered by them"

"Is she going to heal?" My brother questioned.

"The problem is she's not really like us, Liam" Theo said. "None of them are. They're more like-like cheap knockoffs. She might not be as strong as we are"

"Or heal like we do" Liam said.

Theo nodded. "She's not a real werewolf"

"What if we turn her into one?" Liam suggested.

"Nice idea" Theo said. "Except we can't do that"

"But Scott can"

We pulled up outside the animal clinic and headed inside.

Liam and Hayden sat in the corner as I dragged Theo off to talk.

"You-" I started. "You make me so mad"

"Look I'm sorry for locking you in the car"

"Oh, too right you should be"

"I just didn't want you to get hurt" he said. "I know you wanted to protect Liam but I know how dangerous the doctors are. The thought of losing you was- it was terrifying"

"You really care that much?" I asked.

"I care more than you think" he said, lacing his fingers with mine. "So much more. Kara I-"

The animal clinic door opened and Scott stepped inside.

Theo and I reluctantly headed back over to where Liam and Hayden were.

"She's getting worse, I think she's dying" My brother said, still holding Hayden in his arms.

"It's got to be some kind of mercury poisoning" Theo said.

"Scott, remember what you promised me" Liam said. "You said you'd do everything you could to save her. If she's a real werewolf, we can save her. You gotta give her the bite"

We all looked up at Scott, waiting for his answer.

"No"

This may be the longest chapter I've written on this book and it took me forever oops (I was meant to update yesterday but I went to London and got back really late my bad)

There are v big things happening between Kara and Theo next chapter...lots of revelations 😧
