The Wolf of the Wilds

The Wolf of the Wilds was a nice breath of fresh air in the werewolf genre. Not in the sense that it was completely different from every book in that vast space but in the sense that it was similar while holding its own.

The setting was fantastical but could be further expanded upon in the story to help fill in some gaps about why things were the way they were. The history of Helena's world, the pack territories, was almost mesmerizing, though, along with the descriptions and imagery.

The plot was nice as it dealt with Helena and the world's history while also affecting the current world around her but perhaps a faster pace would add more tension to the story. There hadn't been a lot of summarizing to move things along, however, which was nice. The story actually followed Helena's adventure with her newfound mate by her side.

The characterization had been absolutely amazing. Everyone had their own distinct personality and dialogue (which was never cringe-worthy). Helena, an autistic werewolf with a no-nonsense personality, met her mate and grew to have friends all the while still maintaining that integral part of herself.

The grammar was good with mostly just minor mistakes that could all, more than likely, be corrected with Grammarly.
