Chapter 11

Zeke's limp arms are thrown over the shoulders of Alpha Gage and Cayden while they each support one of his legs. Cayden's face is pale, his sky blue eyes are full of fear. There's a deep gash across his left leg, dripping blood down to the stone floor of the porch.

Alpha Gage looks just as fearful, his wide, dark blue eyes are almost black, pleading with me to help them. A cut at the top of his head leaks beads of blood that roll down his temple.

Zeke, however, looks the worst and my heart drops at the sight. His head is bowed forward so much that I can't even see his face. Three deep scratches cut across his bare torso, from the top of his right shoulder to his left side. His cargo shorts are painted with mud, grass stains, and blood.

It's such a shock to see four strong, powerful werewolves look so battered. I feel as if i'm in slow motion while my eyes roll over them.

"If you can help him, please, I don't know what else to do." Alpha Gage's voice breaks as he speaks.

I snap out of my shock, moving quickly, I open the door wider to let them in.

"Bring him inside," I concede, leading them to the kitchen.

With a wave of my hand, I clear the kitchen island of its clutter and turn around to face Gage and Cayden.

"Lay him here," I say, gesturing to the island.

They lay him down carefully and slowly, but a groan still leaves Zeke's cracked lips and his face scrunches in pain. Shivers rack through his body and his hands shake against the table. His face is sickly pale, covered in a film of sweat, instead of his normal tan complexion. His eyes move rapidly from side to side under his eyelids and his breathing is shallow and uneven.

"What happened?" I demand, putting my hands on the sides of Zeke's head.

"I- I don't know, we were just attacked. He came out of nowhere," Cayden stutters, his voice shaking.

"Who attacked you?" I question, my eyes flitting between Gage and Cayden.

Zeke coughs making blood splatter from his mouth and he grunts in pain.

"I didn't recognize him. But his eyes, they were black and he had claws," Gage utters, looking at his son with horror.

Closing my eyes, I focus on Zeke. I listen to his heartbeat, which is starting to get frighteningly slow. I'm able to pinpoint his injuries, but I can also feel traces of a dark, deadly power running through his veins.

"Poison," I mutter.

My eyes snap open and I shake my head in confusion, my eyebrows furrowed. Why would a demon poison him?

"He was poisoned by a demon, that's what attacked you," I say louder this time.

"A demon? What the hell do you mean a demon?" Gage growls.

"Exactly what you think it means. Demon's have poison under their nails and Zeke has a ton of it in his system." I answer calmly, paying no mind to his angry expression.

I inhale deeply and close my eyes again. I need to heal Zeke's wounds first, then I need to get the poison out of his system, and the only way I can do that is by transferring it to myself.

My power sparks inside of me, flowing through my body until it reaches my hands and then moves into Zeke. It glows a fluorescent, milky white as it make its way through his veins, working toward the gashes in his chest. I watch with full concentration, healing each one and leaving only dried blood behind.

My power soon reels back to me once he's completely healed, and now, I need to focus on pulling the poison out. I brace myself for the onslaught of pain I'll soon be attacked by.

I squeeze my eyes close and start to tug out the dark, ruthless power that lingers in him, attacking his body from the inside out. The inky black poison is visible under his skin as it suddenly runs through his veins, racing toward my hands. It seeps into me in the form of dark black smoke, bursts of pain erupt in my palms and up my arms as it travels through me.

Zeke's eyes suddenly snap open, frantically moving everywhere around the room in panic.

"Hey, Moose, look at me. You're okay, everything is okay," I croon reassuringly, hoping to calm him.

His frantic movement halts and his green eyes land on me. I smile lightly despite the burning pain coursing through my body.

The last of the poison flows into me, and my faint smile morphs into a pained expression. Zeke gasps, sucking in lung fulls of air as his heart beat starts to steady itself now that he's free of the tight grip the poison had on him. He shoots upward into a sitting position, coughing vigorously.

My hand smacks against the counter, using it for balance, while my head starts spinning. Every breath feels like inhaling razor blades and my veins burn like fire runs through them. My eyesight blurs and black spots dance across my vision.

Squeezing my eyes shut, I gasp while my body fights against the poison, attempting to heal me quickly. Eventually, the pain starts to fade leaving behind a dull, manageable ache.

"Are you alright?" Cayden asks with concern, noticing my uneasy expression.

"I'm fine," I choke out, each word makes my head throb, but I ignore the lingering pain.

My eyes snap to Zeke, who is now standing hunched over the island taking deep breaths. As if he can feel my eyes on him, he looks up at me suddenly, trapping me in his gaze.
