part one ~ pilot

i sigh, picking up the papers that had flown out of my arms at the abrupt movement of the train. i am absolutely in the way of a group of hufflepuff girls, lightly whispering while they wait for me to be done. 'thank god,' i think- 'that im just interrupting a group of hufflepuffs'.
if they were another house, id likely be trampled or at least rudely sighed at by now. i may be a slytherin, but to be completely honest- sometimes i worry i was wrongly placed. my parents agree with my placement, as they see my most confident side. however- crippling anxiety tends to stop you from being so "cunning" outside of your comfort zone.
quickly stepping up from the floor, i am quickly squeezed into the wall as they push past me- muttering a sea of apologies and pardons as they pass.
i speed-walk down the long compartments until i finally locate aurora. her eyes light up when she sees me waving through the locked compartment door. 'oh my god! y/n!' she exclaims, pulling me into her arms. she feels warm, safe. like home. 'i missed you too, aurora.'
i hear a sniffle come from inside of the cabin. as i turn, i see mattheo and blaise, both grinning like there's no tomorrow. 'hello boys,' i say. i feel the corners of my mouth starting to rise looking at their huge smiles. 'i missed you both as well, dont get jealous'. i jump into mattheos arms and hold him tight. i close my eyes, and take in his smell. its always the same. cigarettes and raspberry and cream scented soap. consistency calms me, after such little consistency in my life. hogwarts is good for that. you can trust it will always be the same. it truly is my second home.
.
i am woken by a jolt, which throws me forwards into the train table. i must have fallen asleep in mattheos arms, since i seem to be sitting in his lap. as i take in my surroundings, the familiar day has turned into the even more familiar night. we must have arrived, because chatter seems to be spilling out of the seperate compartments in the train as students mill around collecting their luggage.
'hey sleepy'
i turn my head towards mattheo and rub my eyes, adjusting to waking so abruptly. as i let out a yawn, he lifts me off his lap so that he can begin to get off of the train. 'uuhhgggh' i grumble. 'cant i just sleep forever?' mattheo laughs at me just as an unexpected voice replies from the doorway.
'shut up y/n. you're not cute.'
as i look up, my expression sours. draco. of course we couldn't go one train ride without him coming and contributing his opinion, which nobody actually wants.
'shut up draco. go bleach your hair again.' i spit, still not awake enough to even care if he murders me because of this response. i grab my belongings and storm past him off of the train.
jumping onto the platform with my bags swinging by my side, i blink slowly, adjusting my eyes to the foggy station lights. my light breaths create a cloud of smoke which quickly begins dissolving into the wind. i should have anticipated aurora sneaking up on me as soon as she could, yet still shook in surprise when a mop of blonde hair lunged toward me.

'hey y/n! you disappeared on me! i've been waiting all summer to see you, dont think you can get rid of me that easily.'

i smiled lightly at her, before the familiar sound of the train announcing its departure reminds me to continue walking, as to not be left behind by the boats. 'so,' i sigh, looking over to her as we walk with the large crowd of chattering students. 'sixth year, hey? what crazy crap do you think is going to happen this year?'
aurora giggles, her curls bouncing as she skips along. walking backwards now, she whisper-yells- 'who's hooking up this year is the more important question, i could argue'. she makes a mocking gesture, and turns back around to walk next to me. 'you and draco finally getting over your little feud? making up- or out?'.
i roll my eyes and push my shoulder into hers, but she runs off before i can properly deny her ridiculous allegations.
.
nine hours later

i wake up to my alarm, sounding off in a cruel shriek. i groan loudly, throwing my wand at the clock. as occurs every day, this action does nothing to relieve my ears of their pain- meaning i am rudely forced out of my bed.
i absolutely love hogwarts, its the only place i truly feel like myself. waking up early after nearly three months of not being forced awake in the morning- now that is something i definitely do not enjoy. after turning off my alarm, i decide to visit my roommates beds, yelling at flora and daphne to force them awake.
'oi, carrow, greengrass- class starts in an hour. get up!'
daphne proceeds to throw her pillow at me, while flora gracefully leaves her bed and quietly smooths the sheets down after her. she gives me a small nod, and a half smile. flora and i have never really been friends, per-say. she usually only speaks to hestia, her sister. when they refused to house them together this year, they both tried to refuse to come back to school.
though, i suppose- it wasn't very successful.
i sit down on daphne's bed, draping my body dramatically over hers.
'greengrass. i swear ill hex your ass out of this bed if you dont get up right now. c'mon, we've got to get ready for class.'
she groans and rolls over, proceeding to roll off of the bed, an unexpected yet hilarious turn of events. as she slowly, and begrudgingly pulls on her white button-up, icy hair still in a tangled knot on the top of her head, i pull open my trunk to find my crumpled uniform. crap. with all of the excitement last night, i completely forgot to hang up and press my uniform. i reach over to my wand, still rolling around on the timber flooring. 'levigio' i whisper, watching the wrinkles flatten out from my clothing.
the soft pattering of daphne's feet continues around me as i pull on my uniform- a dark grey pleated skirt, my white button-up shirt, my slytherin tie and a green and black striped scarf. i grab my white socks and black mary-janes as i shuffle into the bathroom, chucking on some mascara with one hand and brushing my teeth with the other. i only brush my hair, letting it fall over my shoulders in pure laziness.
'cute'. daphne yawns, standing at the doorway with her skirt much too low on the left, and much too high on the right. i stare at it, trying to decide wether to tell her or not. suddenly- i hear an impatient knock at the door, and i rush over to the door.
