Harry and Hermione plunge through the night astride Buckbeak, soaring towards the castle while (y/n) flew next to them. The clouds blanketed the sky, the moon peeking out to illuminate their path as the wind blew through their hair.
"You were right, (y/n)! It wasn't my dad I saw earlier! It was... me! I saw myself conjuring the Patronus before! I knew I could do it this time, because... because I'd already done it! Does that make sense!?" Harry yells over the howling winds, looking at the girl who flew around them in circles.
"You also had practice with Lupin!" she yells back, flying above her friends who look up at her before she flies next to Buckbeak. "Wanna race buddy?" he clicks his beak happily, nodding and Hermione screams out in fear as he dives down faster.
"I don't like this!" (y/n) laughs as her friend shrieks out, flying to catch up with Buckbeak and zooming past him making him fly faster.
"Too slow!" she chuckles out, using her powers to unlock the cell as Sirius walks out, eyes wide at the scene of this girl flying in front of him with a red glow around her hands.
The man's eyes shine with amazement as Buckbeak lands, (y/n) helping him up on the bird with her powers before all three of them get spirited away by the creature. He lifts off the terrace and soars directly into the night, flying higher and away from the castle. Sirius laughs and howls into the night while giving (y/n) a high-five as she flies next to them, his hair blowing in the wind delightedly.
Buckbeak soars towards the forest over the bridge, flying low to land in a clearing safely. He and (y/n) gently land on the ground softly, Sirius jumping off the creature to help the kids off. The Hufflepuff shakes off her powers to rest for a bit, the man standing before the kids with a look of appreciation on his face.
"I'll be forever grateful for this. To all three of you."
"I want to go with you." Harry says.
"One day perhaps. For some time... my life will be too... unpredictable. Besides," Sirius gently holds Harry's shoulders to look him in the eye. "you're meant to be here at Hogwarts."
"But you're innocent..."
"And you know it. And for now, that will do." Sirius smiles at the boy, gently sitting him down on a rock and leaning before him. "I expect you're tired of hearing this..." he gently holds Harry's face. "You look so like your father." Harry smiles at this. "Except your eyes. You have-"
"-my mother's eyes." the two of them chuckle softly.
"It's so cruel that I spent so much time with James and Lily, and you so little... but know this, the ones that love us never really leave us." Sirius looks up at (y/n) when he says this and her eyes widen. "And you can always find them..." he holds a hand out for her and she holds it, letting him pull her to stand next to Harry. Sirius guides both of the children's hands over their hearts. "in here." the man suddenly stands up, walking towards Buckbeak and climbing on top of the creature as he holds the chain like reins. "You really are the brightest witch of your age." Sirius smiles at Hermione who grins back, the man looking at (y/n) once more. "I promise to keep your secret (y/n)."
"Thank you." the girl nods in relief, Sirius urging Buckbeak to gallop away and soar into the glittering sky. Harry, Hermione and (y/n) stand watching as they fade away into the clouds. "We need to go." she says, waving her hands as they glowed red, cloaking all three of them invisible and picking them up to fly them back to the castle quickly.
"(y/n)... (y/n)! The window!" Hermione screeches out but the glass ripple away into pieces to let them fly into the hospital wing, melding back together behind them. Dumbledore looks up at them and nods, walking away quickly. Harry, Hermione and (y/n) keep quiet until their past selves went back in time, the Hufflepuff gently landing her friends back down safely and dropping the cloak around them to make them visible.
Ron blinks with a frown of confusion. "How'd you three get over there? I was just talking to you... over there." he points.
Hermione glances mischievously at Harry and (y/n). "What's he talking about (y/n), Harry?"
"Honestly Ron. How can someone be in two places at once?" the Hufflepuff snickers at his confusion, Hermione and Harry laughing with her. She glances at the curtain hiding Draco and turns to the group. "I'm exhausted so I'm heading to bed. Night guys." she turns invisible, her powers rippling around her with her smile being visible last and she flies over to Draco. "Hey..." he jumps, almost screaming but sighs in relief when he sees her after she makes him invisible. "Let's go." he nods, letting her fly them out of the hospital wing until they land at the astronomy tower.
"How did you get back so fast?" he asks as they sit down on the bench, (y/n) shaking off her powers completely to rest.
"We went back in time." his eyes widen at her.
"Is that one of your powers now!?" she laughs, shaking her head.
"No, we used a special artifact and no, I'm not telling you what but boy do I have a story to tell you." Draco smiles, letting (y/n) rest against his shoulder as she tells the story, pulling her close by her shoulders. Obviously, there were some important details she skipped out on.
~~~~~~~~
"So what happened?" (y/n) asks as she leans off the wall by the Great Hall, seeing Harry walk towards her with a glum look on his face.
"He's resigning..."
"What!?"
"I couldn't do anything to change his mind." he shrugs, both kids walking into the Great Hall. "But he told me to let you know he's keeping your secret." the Hufflepuff smiles, both at the news and at the bunch of Gryffindors surrounding a package on their table.
"Stand back, I said! I'll take it upstairs if you don't settle!" Ron exclaims, and the two walk to the table to see Harry's Firebolt broom sitting on the table.
"You didn't!" he gasps as he looks at (y/n) and the Gryffindors look at her in shock.
"I thought you might like it back after McGonagall confiscated it." she shrugs. "There's a fake sitting in her room. Now none of yous mention that to her you hear." she points at the Gryffindors who nod quickly.
"You got that for Harry!?" Neville asks and (y/n) nods.
"Can I have a go, Harry? After you, of course." Seamus asks as Harry picks up his broom. He hadn't been able to have a go on flying on it for fun, only during the quidditch matches and even then McGonagall takes the broom back.
"Wanna go for a ride?" (y/n) asks and he grins, nodding in excitement. She chuckles as she watches the kids run off after Harry, following behind them slowly. She limped towards the open door, leaning against the doorway tiredly. She saw Draco looking at her with a frown, shooing away his goons and they walk off before he walks over to her.
"You should be resting." he mumbles out, letting her lean on him so she didn't put pressure on her injured foot.
"It doesn't hurt as bad as before."
"A week is not long enough for you to heal." Draco hisses but (y/n) waves him off, turning to see Harry screaming when he flies off out of the castle.
"He's going to crash so bad." she snickers, the Slytherin smiling down at her. They head to sit down on the steps of the castle, him helping her walk to sit and they look up at the sky together. "I can't believe this year is ending already... It almost feels unbelievable, impossible really. Time has flown by so much..."
"Is that such a bad thing? We get to grow up."
"I guess but I wish we had more time, or just have some moments to pause just for a bit sometimes."
"I know what you mean..." Draco whispers, smiling as he watched (y/n) watch the clouds.
The sun reflected off her glasses like gold, a soft smile on her lips as she leaned back against her hands. The winds blew by making her hair gently dance around the 14-year-old girl. Watching her like the ethereal and mythical witch she was, Draco couldn't help the warm but tight feeling grow in his chest. It was a completely unknown feeling, something he didn't recognise at all and it terrified him. He didn't know what it was but all he knew was that it was drawn from (y/n).
"I know we leave tomorrow morning so... I guess it's safe to say, see you again soon for the new school year." (y/n) smiles at Draco as she turns to look at him, the boy chuckling before he looks up at the sky.
She couldn't help the way he looked so relaxed, like a 15-year-old boy just truly enjoying his life and his school experience. She hoped that nothing would take his happiness like this away from him, she wanted him to be happy like this forever. Her cheeks flush seeing his coy smile with a glint in his grey eyes, the way his hair fluffed against the wind and shining brighter from the sun. She felt warm inside, a feeling she didn't recognise and it made her feel excited but scared.
Because with that warmth came a feeling of dread and guilt, a sense of longing and grief.
