"(y/n), I have to thank you again for that new broom! I wouldn't have gotten that snitch to get Gryffindor a win for that Quidditch match last week!" Harry exclaims, walking with (y/n) and Ron and Hermione were arguing in front of them.
"Nah, you have the talent of winning. It's not always all about the broom." she smiles at him and he grins, snickering lightly as his other friends were yelling at each other. Ron apparently thought that Hermione's cat ate his rat since he couldn't find him anywhere and his drapes were ripped up in his dorm room.
"Your cat killed him!"
"Rubbish!"
"Harry, (y/n), you've seen the way that bloodthirsty beast of hers is always lurking about. And Scabbers is gone!" Ron complains as the group of friends were heading to the Black Lake to meet up with Hagrid and know about what happened at Buckbeak's hearing.
"Well, maybe you should take better care of your pets!" Hermione argues back.
"I'm so glad Loki doesn't cause trouble. Do you bub?" (y/n) says as he raises her fingers to her head where he was perched on, scratching his chin. "You're the best buddy aren't you?" he coos happily, jumping down to snuggle on her shoulder and rubbing against her cheek.
"Do birds eat rats?" Ron suddenly pipes up and the Hufflepuff glares at him.
"What are you insinuating!? Loki wouldn't dare to eat your rat!"
"You never know!"
"Loki has a specific and very refined palette! He wouldn't go near your nasty rat." (y/n) and Loki shoot daggers at Ron as he cowers away. The owl hoots and flutters his wings, his companion seeing Draco with his owl in the distance as he heads towards her. Loki flies up to greet Hunter who jumps off his owner's arm, the Hufflepuff and Slytherin smiling at each other briefly before walking past each other as their owls go to play in the owlery.
"Why is Loki buds with Malfoy's owl!?" Harry gasps and (y/n) simply shrugs.
"How am I supposed to know? I'm not an owl? And you two stop arguing already please." The Hufflepuff sighs out, Hermione and Ron shutting their mouths as the kids jog to the Black Lake and say hi to Hagrid. He had come back from the hearing and was wearing a gigantic, hairy brown suit and perhaps the world's ugliest yellow and orange tie, standing knee-deep in the shallows of the Black Lake while skimming rocks as big as flagstones across the water's shiny gloss.
When he turns, the golden trio and (y/n) catch a brief sight of his eyes, red with tears and then he looks away. "How'd it go, Hagrid?" Hermione asks warily.
"Buckbeak liked London."
"I meant the hearing."
"Oh. That. Well, first off, the committee members took turns talking about why we were there. Then I got up and said my bit-you know, how Buckbeak was a good Hippogriff, always cleaned his feathers and as long as you treated him with respect, he'd treat you the same." Hagrid angrily skips the rock into the lake. "Then Lucius Malfoy got up and said his bit-you know, how Buckbeak was a deadly dangerous beast who would kill you as soon as look at you."
"And then?" Hermione asks, dreading the news.
"And then he asked for the worst, did old Lucius."
"They're not firing you, are they!?" (y/n) gasps.
"No, I'm not sacked... Buckbeak'sbeen sentenced to death!" Hagrid cries out, dumping all the rocks into the water furiously. The friends look at each gloomily.

The day was dark and grey, a sorrowful colour coincidentally fitting the event that was about to take down in the evening as the golden trio and (y/n) walk out of the castle together. They had deep frowns on their faces when they saw an executioner sitting in the courtyard, surrounded by various crows cawing around them. He was sharpening his axe, the group glaring uncomfortably as they walked past the executioner who simply grinned at them with his crooked teeth.
"I don't like him..." (y/n) says, the group storming to Hagrids hut quickly to comfort him.
"I can't believe they're going to kill Buckbeak! It's too horrible." Hermione exclaims.
"It just got worse." Ron says as the four of them walked out off the bridge to see Malfoy, along with Crabbe and Goyle, lurking within a grouping of monolithic menhirs. They had binoculars in hand, spying on Hagrid who stands in the pumpkin patch and tossed dead ferrets to Buckbeak while wiping his tears away before loping into his hut.
"Did you see the big, fat blubbering oaf?! Oh, this is going to be rich. Did I tell you, Father said I can keep the head. I'll donate it to the Gryffindors' room." (y/n) had a frown on her face as she followed Hermione who stormed down the steps, alerting Draco whose smile quickly fell seeing how upset (y/n) was but he had to keep up the act around his goons.
They both knew they couldn't do anything to stop it but he had to keep the act going. "Ah, look who's here. Come to see the show?" he says, his arms in the air while he plastered on a fake grin. Seeing the Hufflepuff so upset with him made his stomach twist.
"You... foul... loathsome...evil... little cockroach!" Malfoy quickly stumbles back against a tree, closing his eyes with fear as Hermione jabs the tip of her wand at his throat.
"Hermione! No!" Ron exclaims and she turns around in surprise that he was stopping her. "He's not worth it." Malfoy was quivering against the monolithic menhir until Hermione slowly lowered her wand and turns around but then whisp back around to punch him in the face. He falls back on his flat, groaning in pain and (y/n) couldn't help but think he deserved it.
"Malfoy! Are you ok!?" his goons ask him as he quickly lept up to his feet, holding his nose as he ran away from the group.
"Not a word to anyone about this! Understood!" he hisses at them.
"That felt good." Hermione breathes out with a grin on her face.
"Not good, brilliant." Ron compliments but (y/n) turned around with her arms crossed. Yes, she was still worried about the boy but this never would've happened if he never told his father. It's too late to change anything now anyway...
The group quickly descends the steps to Hagrids hut, knocking on his door. "Hey Hagrid." they give him a soft smile and he ushers the kids in. (y/n) went to pour everyone tea as the golden trip looked out the window to look at Buckbeak who sat quietly amongst the pumpkin patch.
"Look at him. Loves the smell of the trees when the wind blows through them..."
"Why don't we just set him free?" Harry asks Hagrid but the giant shakes his head.
"They'd know I did it. And that would only get Dumbledore in trouble. He's coming down, Dumbledore. Says he wants to be with me when it... when it happens.Great man, Dumbledore..." Hagrid sighs out, turning around to accept the tea (y/n) made for him. "Thank you (y/n)..." she just smiles at him sadly, nodding as she went to sit down with Hermione amongst the other creepy crawly creatures that were in the hut.
"We'll stay with you too, Hagrid!" Hermione announces.
"You'll do no such thing! Think I want you seein' a thing like this! No. You'll drink your tea and be off. But before you do," Hagrid turns around and takes the lid from a flour tin, a tiny head with ears flecked with powder emerges.
"Scabbers! You're alive!" Ron gasps out as the giant passes his pet to him.
"You should keep a closer eye on your pets, Ron."
"I think you owe someone an apology!" Hermione glares at the Weasley.
"Right. Next time I see Crookshanks, I'll let him know."
"I meant me!" before the two could start fighting again, a ceramic jar on the table suddenly shatters.
"Blimey! What was that!?" Hagrid asks as Hermione scoops out a grey stone.
"Ow!" everyone looks up when Harry hisses, rubbing the back of his head when another stone hits him. He and (y/n) look out the window in confusion but their eyes widen when they see Dumbledore and Fudge approaching the hut with the executioner behind them.
"We need to go. Now." (y/n) says and Hagrid agrees when he sees Fudge and Dumbledore with the executioner, them knocking on his door loudly.
"Hagrid, it'll be fine. It'll be ok!" Harry says as (y/n) ushers her friends out the back door, waving her hands behind her back to make sure all four of them are invisible. Harry looks at her and she nods, letting them know she was cloaking with her powers as he grabs Ron's hand and she grabs Hermione's hand to make them run off.
A veil of crows flutters onto the roof and more drop into the pumpkin patch, beginning to slowly circle Buckbeak. The kids quickly duck behind the pumpkins, watching Hagrid solemnly greet the others. Hermione and (y/n) suddenly hear something crack behind them and they turn around, inspecting the trees behind them where the branches seem to dance oddly.
"What?" Harry asks, (y/n) narrowing her eyes when she sees a similar glow of red eyes in the darkness before they blink away.
"Nothing, I just thought I saw... Never mind."
"Let's go." Ron says, the others quickly following after him as they run back up to the monolithic menhirs, standing up on the hill and seeing Hagrids hut through a stand of trees but they could still clearly see what was going to happen. Hagrid's hut glimmers desolately in the dying sun and high in the clock tower, a bell begins to toll. The group stops, fighting their tears as everything turned to a standstill.
They watched as the Executioner raises the axe high above his head, hanging there seemingly forever, etched against the sky, then drops from sight. (y/n) closes her eyes and covers her ears quickly, Harry pulling her against his shoulder as the others hear a sickening chop. The crows disperse from the sudden drop and Ron and Harry stare toward the trees in numb disbelief. Hermione turns away to hug Ron, crying against his shoulder.
"Hey... it's over..." Harry soothes (y/n)'s hair away from her face, gently pulling her hands away.
"They actually..."
"I know..." the girl turns to look at the Pumpkin patch, only seeing Buckbeaks legs but he wasn't moving.
"He's not moving..."
"I know..." Harry hugged her tightly, leaning his head on top of her head and rubs her back.
