(y/n) - your name

"(y/n)! Oh my god, you're ok!" the girl stutters as Hermione jumps to hug her tightly before she could step foot into the Great Hall. "I thought I wouldn't see you again! I mean like you wouldn't leave Hagrid's hut-nevermind! I'm just glad you're ok! You ok right?" the Gryffindor leans back to let (y/n) talk to her.
"I'm ok Hermione. I promise." she nods at her. "I just needed some time away."
"I made to sure to collect all the homework and class work you missed. The teachers are happy to let you hand them in when you can so no rush." (y/n) nods, letting Hermione drag her over to the boys who were talking until they look up and gasp.
"(y/n)!" Harry and Ron jump up to hug the girl, spewing questions non-stop.
"I'm fine. I'm ok. I just needed to rest."
"Maybe you should take a couple more days off, your neck still looks like it hurts." Harry grimaces, pointing to the burnt claw marks of the fingers that circled around her neck. (y/n) reaches up and gingerly touches her neck, a frown on her face and she shrugs her cloak up further to hide it.
"It doesn't hurt but I really don't like the stares I'm getting because of it..." (y/n) sighs out, sitting down with the golden trio as they ask her if she was ok and how she was feeling once more before she persuades them she was fine. It was true. She felt fine ever since Draco stayed with her last night when he came to the hut, staying with her until she was ok to go back to her common room. He never left until she went inside her common room, asking her over and over if she was ok and she promised him she was. She made a pinky swear to him and that eased his mind.
That night however, she couldn't sleep at all. No matter how much she tried, she just tossed and turned in her bed, huddled in her green and silver blanket. She stayed up all night, exhausted and eyes slightly droopy as she got dressed in her uniform and walked to the Great Hall.
Draco walked into the Great Hall with his friends and his eyes immediately landed on (y/n), a frown on his face noticing the tired look in her eyes like she struggled to stay awake. He sat down, ignoring Pansy who was asking about his still injured hand, which wasn't injured anymore but still kept up the act for free sympathies from the professors who gave him slack for his work because of it. He watched as she made no move to eat anything and that made him worried when the bell rang for the students to head off to their first class.
"Puff!" Harry grits his teeth when he hears Draco call for (y/n) already the minute she just got back.
"Can he not give it a rest already!? You barely just got back!" he snaps, turning around to glare at the Slytherin boy.
"It's fine Harry-"
"-its not fine! You got hurt and you need to rest and that git is making you do his dirty work again-" Harry quietens down as (y/n) pats his shoulder, shaking her head.
"I'll be fine Harry." he reluctantly lets her go as she walks over to the Slytherin group. "Yes Malfoy?" (y/n) says quietly, standing before him as he ushers his friends away who walk away hesitantly.
"Are you ok?" he whispers, ignoring the eyes of other students around them. At this point, they weren't surprised at seeing the two since everyone knew the Hufflepuff girl was doing everything for the Slytherin boy due to his injury. Well, that's what they thought and Draco took advantage of that to be able to talk to (y/n) out in public.
"I'm fine-"
"-don't lie to me. You're exhausted and you haven't eaten either." the girl purses her lips, having nothing to say against that. "Here." the platinum blonde-haired boy passes the girl a pear and some cookies, nodding to her to make sure she at least eats something and she starts to eat the pear.
"Malfoy!" the boy sighs out in annoyance as he hears his goons, turning around to face them.
"Crabbe, Goyle."
"You still taking your servant to do your homework at the library?" Draco glances at (y/n), about to say no but she cuts him off.
"Yeah, so what?" she snaps at them.
"Can we add ours-"
"-no. She's doing my work only. You buffoons find someone else." the goons shrug and walk away. "We don't have to-"
"-I don't mind. I think it would be more productive for me."
"But-"
"-how about tonight? After dinner?" (y/n) asks, tossing her eaten pear core in the bin and passing Draco a cookie but he just looks down at her in surprise.
"Uh, ok?"
~~~~~~~~
(y/n) hummed softly to a song that was stuck in her head, walking around the somewhat empty library that had a few students mingling about here and there after everyone had finished their dinner in the Great Hall. She weaved between bookshelves trying to find a book she wanted to read, shaking off the dreariness and blinking the fuzziness away. She yawned, looking up and seeing an interesting-looking book but it was too far up on the shelf for her to reach. She could use her powers but there were too many students around for her comfort.
She tried to jump up to reach it, huffing when her fingertips barely grazes the spin. She crossed her arms, wondering if there was a ladder around but her breath hitches when she feels a warm body lean against her back, an arm reaching up above her to grab the book. She recognised that ring and sling anywhere, turning around slightly to see Draco smirking down at her as he brought the book down.
"You've grown a lot but still as small as ever." he muses, leaning close to her and seeing her cheeks flare red in a bright blush. He towered over her easily, shadowing her away from prying eyes and trapping her between him and the shelf.
"Draco..." she stutters and he grins hearing her voice stutter. That was the first time ever he heard her voice quiver, always so strong and opinionated but now shy and meek like she used to be in her first year. "Back of." she presses on with a clear voice this time but looks away from him, her heart stuttering at how close he was and how she was surrounded by crisp apples.
"As you wish." he snickers, stepping back and she breathes out in relief before turning around to see him flick through the book in boredom. "How can you find reading interesting?" he scoffs but quickly snatches the book away before the girl in front of him could grab it.
"Draco, just give it here."
"I think I'd rather not." Draco smirks at the flustered (y/n), holding her book above his head knowing there was no way she could grab it from him without being caught.
"Asshole..." she mutters out, walking past him to find a more secluded place away from the students so she could use her powers on the Slytherin's work. "Where's your work?" she asks as he follows her, the two of them walking into a dim hallway far away from the students.
"Don't have it." (y/n) turns around to see Draco wasn't carrying any books or papers or even his book bag. She pinches the bridge of her nose, summoning a large beanbag along with the boy's work that he needed to complete. Papers, scrolls and textbooks were littered on the ground in front of her as she dropped down to sit on the beanbag while the Slytherin watched in curiosity at the strange furniture.
"What's due tomorrow first and then the next day and the ones after that."
"Move over! I want to try!" before (y/n) could get up, Draco squeezed himself onto the beanbag, causing (y/n) to gasp as she almost falls out.
"It's for one person!"
"Make it two!" the boy complains and she snaps her fingers for a bigger beanbag to fit the two of them. "You muggles have strange but relaxing contraptions." Draco sinks further into the beanbag making (y/n) chuckle as she uses her powers to control the textbook and scrolls.
"Read to me what we need to have on the scroll from the textbook and the purpose for the report." he does just that, reading chapter after chapter of work as words appeared on the scrolls for his work and reports, answering questions for quizzes and filling up rolls of parchments for long detailed essays.
"No wonder you ace everything." he watches in amazement, all his homework accumulated in a month being completed in a couple hours.
Draco turns to look at (y/n), seeing her eyes droop as her hands slowly lower down along with the floating objects. She was struggling to stay awake but being next to Draco made it so hard. She was so warm and safe with him, her eyes finally closing for the sleep she had begged to have the night before. Draco blinks in surprise as her head falls against his shoulder, shaking her gently and whispering her name but she doesn't wake up. He sighs in defeat and decides to let her sleep, carefully taking her glasses off and setting them next to him on the floor.
(y/n) slept soundly against Draco, breathing softly and the Slytherin looks at her. He let his eyes roam over her face, take in the softness of her features and slowly raised his hand up to brush her hair back. She was so warm against his fingertips, her fallen hands resting against his chest. Her hair was like velvet, her skin of silk against his cool fingers. She laid against him so sweetly and he let himself stay in this moment with her as long as he could.
