(y/n) - your name

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I'm so glad to get out of the rain and inside, it's so much warmer and nicer in here." (y/n) smiles happily that she was back home at Hogwarts, waiting for the rest of her friends to get out of the horseless carriages. Well, that's what everyone thought but she could see the skeletal horses pulling on the carriages.

"I have to agree with you, it's so much better being back here." Harry says as (y/n) snaps her fingers so her stuff could go up to her dorm room easily.

"You think you can do that for us?" Ron whispers, both boys looking at her with begging eyes and she groans out.

"Fine, fine..." she rolls her eyes playfully, snapping her fingers once more so the golden trio's belongings were sent up to their dorm rooms. "Now go sort it all out before someone sees!" she urges Ron and Harry and they grab Hermione by the arms to take her away while she looks at them in confusion.

(y/n) chuckles lightly, brushing off the stray water droplets as she walked past a group of students. What she doesn't know is that she had walked past Draco, his senses caught in a trance and he turns around to follow the sweet floral scent to see the girl he was waiting to see at the astronomy tower. His eyes widen seeing (y/n) as she walked past him, brushing her hair back. She had grown a lot.

She was a lot taller than last year but he still towered over her, her childish puffy cheeks were gone to replace with more feminine features. She had changed a lot overall, a pink blush coating Draco's cheeks as he looks over her. He noticed her hair was shorter now and he frowned lightly at the thought of not seeing her long braids anymore. He loved pulling on them to annoy (y/n). But she looked just as good as before with her shoulder-length hair.

"The all-house girl thinks she's everything." Pansy scoffs, rolling her eyes. "She's even more hideous than last year!"

I think she looks pretty...

His eyes widen at the sudden thought, shaking his head and trying to calm the redness in his cheeks as he looks away to talk with his friends again.

~~~~~~~~
(y/n) rushes to find her seat, putting on her cloak and dropping down with her housemates before the feast starts. She gets surrounded by compliments and questions about how her break was before the students fall silent when the choir stands before them to perform. They sing beautiful and earn a loud round of applause from the students once they concluded, along with the teachers sitting at the high table including Lupin, Snape, McGonagall, Hagrid and Dumbledore.
Dumbledore rises, beaming over the sea of black hats. "Welcome! Welcome to another year at Hogwarts! I have a few things to say, before we become befuddled by our excellent feast. First, I'm pleased to welcome Professor R.J. Lupin, who has kindly consented to fill the post of Defense Against the Dark Arts. Good luck to you, Professor." Lupin stands up and earns a round of applause from the students.
"Of course. That's why he knew to give you chocolate, Harry." Hermione mentions, sitting sideways for (y/n) to join in the conversation as she turns her back against the Hufflepuff table.
"I guess he gave me the chocolate too cause kids like sweets." she shrugs, chuckling lowly as Harry snickers lightly. (y/n) suddenly stops clapping, Hermione looking at her with concern but her friend's attention was on a certain platinum blonde-haired boy who turned around to mock Harry. Hermione looked between (y/n) and Draco, gasping when she notices how her friend's cheeks turned a faint pink.
(y/n) couldn't believe that she was looking at Draco, long gone was the gel and his hair was now a soft fluff of blonde. He looked taller and much leaner, his baby face completely gone now to start growing into his masculine features. Her heart jumps seeing Draco smirk at Harry, his stormy grey eyes shining brighter with his taunts.
"Is that Draco Malfoy? Since when did he look like... that...?" (y/n) whispers and Hermione snaps her fingers in front of her face. "What?" she snaps from her trance, looking at the Gryffindor friend who raises a brow at her.
"What do you mean what!? You were swooning over Malfoy!" this immediately caught the boys' attention, Ron and Harry turning around to look at (y/n) with shock.
"No, you weren't!" Ron exclaims.
"I wasn't! No way!" (y/n) quips back quickly, looking away quickly as she held her hands to her cheeks to hide her blush.
Dumbledore continues on with his announcements, Hagrid taking over the care of Magical Creatures and declaring that Hogwarts will now host Dementors as per the instructions of the Ministry of Magic. (y/n) obviously wasn't paying attention, looking back to glance at Draco who was looking at her again and the both of them quickly turn away with flushed cheeks. The golden trio were looking at each other with confusion after they saw this, Harry narrowing his eyes as he felt annoyed that (y/n) was looking at Draco like that.
The feast went on without a hitch after Dumbledore finished his speech, the children eating and talking loudly together.
~~~~~~~~

The prefects were leading the students to the common rooms, (y/n) talking to Hermione about their classes and confirming that they were desk buddies again. The Hufflepuff's breath hitches when she feels a hand on her waist, looking up to see a tuft of familiar platinum blonde hair.

"Astronomy tower." Draco whispers subtly in her ear before he walks off with his friends, them clapping his back and talking to him as he briefly looks over his shoulder to see her blush while Hermione dragged her out of the Great Hall.

"What did Malfoy say to you!?" She groans in annoyance as she had to pull her friend to walk properly and she shakes her head.

"Nothing! Nothing..." (y/n) says, clearing her throat. "I'll see you tomorrow ok." she nods to Hermione, separating from her and heading down to the dungeon's corridor to go to her common room.

She looks around to make sure no one was around her, turning around the corner and turning herself invisible before she flies back out to the dungeon's corridor and out to head to the astronomy tower. She slips through a window she splits apart to fly off, it melding back behind her as she weaved between the towers to her sacred spot. (y/n) lands gently on the floor of the astronomy tower, shaking off her powers and checking herself that she wasn't wet since it was still pouring.

She looks around and sits down on the bench, tapping her foot against the floor as she waited. She didn't know how long she was going to wait so she summons her walkman, switching tracks until she found the perfect one for the rainy weather and played the song. The melody drifted around her, leaning back against the bench with her hands against it behind her as she watched the rain fall.

Draco walks up the rickety metal steps when he heard a song playing and someone singing softly, a smirk growing on his face as he sneaks up the last few steps quietly to see that it was (y/n) singing. She hadn't noticed him, humming to the song and singing lightly to the words as she watched the rain fall.

"We will find you acting on your best behaviour"

"Turn your back on Mother Nature. Everybody wants to rule the world"

Her legs bounced to the beat as she moved her head along with the rhythm and he smiles at the scene

"Most of freedom and of pleasure, nothing ever lasts forever"

"Everybody wants to rule the world"

He recognised the song and figured it was one of her favourite songs as she easily sang the lyrics like she knew them by heart.

"There's a room where the light won't find you"

"Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down"

"When they do, I'll be right behind you"

"So glad we've almost made it. So sad they had to fade it"

"Everybody wants to rule the world"

Draco grins as (y/n) turns her head, her gasping in shock and quickly sitting up to stop the music in embarrassment. "How much...?"

"Enough to know you memorised the lyrics by heart." he snickers lightly, enjoying the flush of embarrassment tainting her cheeks as he moves to sit down next to her. She shifts away, still embarrassed but also because of how close Draco was sitting next to her. (y/n) could smell a tangy apple citrus smell from his cologne, terrified of looking up at him in case her whole face turns red. He tilts his head, wondering why she wasn't looking up at him and he thought maybe he really did embarrass her a lot. "No need to be shy, you sounded good." Draco curses himself at the lame compliment, his breath hitching as (y/n) finally looks up at him. Her cheeks and her nose was pink, probably from the cold as well as her doe eyes were wide. He quickly turns away, clearing his throat and scrunching his brows at why she looked so sweet like that.

"Why did you want to meet?" she whispers, the kids sitting awkwardly together. It was the first year all over again. (y/n) and Draco sat stiffly next to each other, unsure of what to say and the boy remembers why he had asked to see the girl other than to just see her in front of him.

"Loki..." he mumbles out, reaching up and letting the owl jump to perch on his arm instead of his head. Loki hoots and (y/n) turns to smile at him happily, reaching over to pet his head.

"Hey, buba... how are you?" he coos happily under her fingers, both kids shifting closer together without realising as the owl between them enjoyed the attention. Loki suddenly flies off and lands on (y/n)'s head, the kids looking at each other with wide eyes at how close they were. They slowly turned red and (y/n) was the first to jump away from Draco. "I... I might head off to sleep early for class tomorrow..."

"Right-yeah I-" before the Slytherin boy could say anything, the Hufflepuff girl flies off down the stairs. He sighs, wondering why it was suddenly so awkward between the two and he looks down to see the walkman that was left behind. Draco picks it up, tracing over the stickers that covered the muggle contraption with a light chuckle before walking back to his common room.
