"Why didn't you tell me you were in the hospital wing?" (y/n) frowns as she sits on the bed next to Hermione's legs, looking over her to see if she was ok. She looked fine and normal so far so that was a good sign.
"Harry and Ron didn't want to worry you, but also because they couldn't find you throughout the winter break." Hermione says, skewing the truth a bit since the boys had told her (y/n) and Draco were supposed friends. Ron went as far as to say they were plotting together. "Apparently you were hanging out with Draco?" Hermione watched for any signs and (y/n) silently panicked before coming up with a lie.
"No, I was avoiding him. The git pranked me and gave me a destructive owl that ruined the common room." (y/n) sighs out and Hermione nods in surprise. That's what Harry said Draco was going to do when the boys were pretending to be Crabbe and Goyle.
"I'm so sorry about that (y/n)." maybe what the group saw of them two outside the Great Hall was Draco pretending to be nice to her and convincing her to accept his dangerous gift.
"Damn owl ripped up everything!" the girl pushes on the lie to make it true and Hermione believes her, noting to tell Ron that he was completely wrong. That (y/n) and Draco weren't friends. Malfoy was a bully through and through. "What happened anyway? Did the polyjuice not work properly?" Hermione grimaces, telling (y/n) everything that happened plus the information the boys managed to get from Draco. About a death that occurred 50 years ago, finding a diary in the bathrooms that belong to a Tom Riddle and Harry's plan to read his diary to see if this Tom Riddle knew what happened 50 years ago when the Chamber of Secrets was opened. "You turned into a cat!?"
"Shush! Don't yell that out! And that's the only thing you get out of everything I told you!?" Hermione quickly looks around as students walk past the hospital wing since everyone had come back again for classes after winter break.
"I'm sorry, but god I wish I saw that!" (y/n) laughs lightly, Hermione wacking her. "Ow! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!"
~~~~~~~~
"Backtrack here for a minute my guy, you went into the diary!?" (y/n) gasps as she looks at Harry, walking with the golden trio across the courtyard to get to the Great Hall after their class had ended. They had decided to have lunch together and sit outside in the warm air of an empty field outside the castle, to take in the blue sky and bright sun. Harry had explained what happened with the empty diary a couple nights ago, how he wrote in the diary and the ink disappeared but his question was answered back to him by Tom Riddle himself. The boy was suddenly transported into the journal as Tom showed Harry what happened the night of the first muggle death when the Chamber of Secrets opened for the first time 50 years ago.
"I don't know how but yes, I saw Dumbledore and Tom Riddle, even Hagrid!" the boy exclaims but (y/n) shakes her head.
"It can't have been Hagrid, he wouldn't have opened the Chamber 50 years ago. He's too sweet and so far, you three do have a reputation to jump to conclusions at the smallest details without getting all the appropriate information." (y/n) lectures the golden trio and they all look at her like they were insulted but soon nodded in agreement after remembering the year before with Snape and their accusations against him. Which they were completely wrong about.
"We don't even know this Tom Riddle! He sounds like a dirty, rotten snitch to me!" Ron says and (y/n) completely agrees with him.
"The monster had killed somebody, Ron. What would any of us have done?"
"Look. Hagrid's our friend. Why don't we just go and ask him about it?"
"That'll be a cheerful visit! 'Hello, Hagrid! Tell us, have you been setting anything mad and hairy loose in the castle lately?'" Ron mocks and (y/n) looks up to see Hagrid standing behind the group.
"Hi Hagrid." He smiles at her, looking at the golden trio who froze up when the Hufflepuff mentioned him.
"(y/n)!" the girl jumps and turns around when she sees her prefect calling for her and she raises her brow in confusion as to why.
"I'll be back guys." The group nods as she walks over to her prefect. "What's up?"
"We have a bit of an emergency and I was hoping you could help us." her prefect was puffing like they had been running all over the castle looking for (y/n).
"Uh, who's we and what emergency?" she asks, unsure if she wants to help.
"Most of the Hufflepuff Quidditch players are terrified of going against Gryffindor cause of Harry and we're struggling to keep the players in the team without them dropping before the game. We heard that you're a fast flyer so I was hoping you could be an all-rounder in case someone drops from the team." (y/n) looks at her prefect weirdly, wondering who and why she was suggested to be on the team.
"I'm not a sports player and Quidditch is freaking dangerous. I would rather stay alive!"
"Please! We have no one else! Even Draco suggested you, which I thought was weird, but I figured to give him the benefit of the doubt."
Why the hell did Draco suggest me!?
(y/n) ponders, making a mental note to throttle him for putting her in this position. She was fast, but without the broom. With the broom, however, she wasn't as fast or in control.
I guess I can pretend to fly the broom and use my powers...
But even that's risky...
"...Fine. Don't expect me to try and cover for anyone if it means I get hit."
"Thank you! Are you free anytime this week in the evening to go through some training?"
"Yeah sure... I'll just need to check and I'll get back to you..." (y/n) sighs, her prefect thanking her again as she groans out in annoyance long after they leave her. "I'm going to kill you Draco..." she grumbles under her breath, turning around to see Neville talking to the golden trio with a panicked look on his face before they all take off running. (y/n) runs after them, worried herself about what happened. "Hermione! What happened?"
"Someone wrecked Harry's dorm! That's what Neville told us!"
"Oh no..." the five kids all ran up to the Gryffindor tower, Neville even letting (y/n) through as they all stood by the entrance of the wrecked and destroyed room. There was shattered glass and ripped paper everywhere, feathers discarded all over the place and things tossed or turned in the destruction.
"It had to be a Gryffindor. Nobody else knows our password... unless it wasn't a student..." Hermione says as Harry quickly went down to the mess to search for Tom Riddle's diary he had kept hidden in his room but it was nowhere to be found.
"Whoever it was, they must have been looking for something." Ron suggests.
"And they found it. Tom Riddle's diary is gone." Harry confirms, looking at all his belongings sadly soon after. Everything he owned was destroyed and (y/n) frowns at the boy, gently moving everyone out of the dorm room.
"Let me talk to him. You three try and figure out what happened if you can ok." Hermione, Ron and Neville nod, walking down to the common room to talk before (y/n) walked back into the dorm room and locked the door behind her.
"What do I do (y/n)?" Harry mumbles out, sounding so lost as he held the destroyed album with his parent's photos in it and she kneels down next to him amidst the mess.
Without saying a word, she takes hold of his hand tightly in hers and he looks at her in surprise as he watches sharp red lightening streaks crawl up the skin of her arm. Her eyes glowed red as her powers grew brighter and brighter, a burst of light erupting in the room to encircle it in a dome. Harry watched with wide eyes as everything in his room started lifting up in the air, shaking and vibrating as the pieces shot back to piece together again.
The glass that shattered mended back into his mirror and lamp, books becoming one again as paper suck back into it. Everything slowly reverted back to its original form before being destroyed, spinning around him with a gust of wind before slowing down and flying to where it belonged in his room. Everything looked normal again, back to how it was before whoever came in here, destroyed it with no sympathy.
Harry looked down as the winds subside and the red glow fades away, (y/n) pulling back her powers as he smiles in relief to see the fixed photo album in his hands. "You fixed it... fixed everything..." he sighs out in relief, opening the page to look at the first moving image of his parents with him as a baby. It wasn't torn in two anymore, back together as one. "Thank you, thank you so much (y/n)." Harry jumps to hug her tightly, burying his head against her shoulder to hide his tears from her. He didn't want to cry in front of her.
"You know I'm always here for you Harry." (y/n) hugs him tighter, leaning her chin on top of his head and letting him cry against her shoulder.
