"You lied!" (y/n) jumps as tries to sneak back into the Hufflepuff common room after dropping Harry off at the Hospital Wing, lying to Madam Pomfrey about how Harry stopped Quirrell.
"Ah damnit..." she turns around to face a red face Draco who glared at her but softened his gaze noticing how she was wincing every time she moved and the exhaustion in her eyes, a few cuts on her face with dried blood staining her skin.
"What did you do!?" he rushes to her to grab her arm and she hisses in pain, the boy quickly letting her go.
"Had to make sure the golden trio didn't get killed..." she sighs out, breezing past Draco to get into the kitchens and just sit down on a stool. "Can you damp a cloth with warm water for me..."
"Potter, that bloody fool!" he hissed out in anger, moving around to find a cloth and damp it like (y/n) asked before passing it to her. She raises her sleeves and Draco gasped loudly at the burning streaks on her arm, the skin hissing when the water gets in contact with it.
"Goddamnit!" the Hufflepuff girl grits out and the poor Slytherin boy didn't know what to do to help except stand next to her and letting her lean her head against his arm. Her arms droop in exhaustion and he quickly lifts them back up so the cloth doesn't fall off, moving to take it off and cool down her other arm. (y/n) hisses lowly from the pain, sighing in relief as the streaks start to dull instead of being red. It was going to take a couple days for it to completely fade away but it made moving so painful.
"What is this? Why are you hurting?" Draco mumbles out, lips pursed as he continues to keep the wet cloth wrapped around (y/n)'s arms, pushing her sleeves up higher and realising the streaks went up further. He noticed the slight glow of crackling lightning crawl up her face and to her eyes which flashed red before fading away. She rubbed her eyes tiredly which went back to their normal colour, blinking as she saw the platinum blonde-haired boy in front of her look so worried.
"...I can't tell you-"
"-you can't hide this anymore! So just stop lying to me!" Draco snaps, annoyed that (y/n) just couldn't tell him. What happened to sharing secrets together? "I know this has something to do with you fainting, the wolves, you being so much more power than all the students here so just tell me the truth!" (y/n) sighs in defeat, taking the cloth off and struggling to wring her fingers, panicking slightly that she couldn't get feeling in them. Draco did the unthinkable, holding her hands in his and squeezing them so she could feel him at least.
"Ok, ok... I have powers Draco..." the boy looks at her weirdly as she sets her wand down behind her. "Just... just watch ok..." he nods, stepping to the side as she summons her powers, waving her hands as she controls the kitchen utensils. Cups, cartons, spoons, and tins fly around the kids in the air with a faint glow of red as she made two cups of hot chocolate. Draco watched with wide eyes, gasping when he couldn't feel the ground anymore and he shrieks when he gets lifted up.
"(y/n), put me down-!" he whips his head around, trying to find her but she had just disappeared. "Where-"
"-I'm still here..." he could hear her tired voice and she suddenly reappears before her with a ripple, sitting where she was the entire time until she stops using her powers completely. Draco catches himself on his feet on the ground as two cups of hot chocolate settle on the kitchen table.
"How-without your wand or saying incantations-who-what are you!?"
"Not muggle, nor witch. Like I told you before Draco... I don't know who I am... all I know is that I have these powers and no knowledge..."
"You should show everyone! You would be the most powerful witch on this planet!" the Slytherin boy exclaims, proud that he was friends with someone so powerful but his excitement falters with the sad look in her eyes.
"Is that what you really think of me? Some circus entertainment? This... it hurts Draco..." the boy feels something break in him as he hears her sniffle. "I would be taken away... experimented on or killed... I have to keep this a secret and so do you..."
"I'm sorry." Draco quickly says, actually regretting his words which shocked (y/n). This wasn't him, there was no way Draco was willingly apologising right now. "I'm sorry for suggesting that... I promise that I won't tell anyone." he brings up his pinky, smiling softly that his friend was smiling at the gesture as she curls her pinky around his.
"I might be a bad influence on you..." (y/n) chuckles lightly.
"I think the right influence is what you mean." Draco smiles lightly before sitting down next to her and carefully passing her a cup of hot chocolate before sipping on his. "So how did you save pathetic Potter this time?" the two kids sat together long into the night as (y/n) tells Draco everything that happened, letting him cool down her arms with the cloth every now and then.

"Hey (y/n)!" the golden trio quickly catches up to the Hufflepuff girl as she was walking to the Great Hall, making it for the House Cup feast that the school organised to celebrate the end of their first year and Harry's triumph against Quirrell.
"Hey guys." the girl smiles at her friends who grin back at her, quickly bringing her up to date on what happened the night before on their adventure. Hermione and Ron didn't know that (y/n) was there the entire time except for Harry who looked at her with worry.
"Are you ok?" he whispers to her and she nods.
"I'm fine." (y/n) says, smiling when she sees Draco standing to the side with a bunch of his friends who were greeting him a happy late 13th birthday.
He looks up and nods slightly at her, subtle for no one to pick up on before looking away and (y/n) does the same. The students were all called into the Great Hall, quickly sitting down at their house seats. There was an erupting cacophony of happy chatter and eating, Hermione, Ron, Harry and (y/n) sitting near each other to talk. Green and silver banners suddenly roll down magically from the ceilings as candles floated around the student's heads indicating who had won the House Cup. Slytherin roars into loud cheers, congratulating each other until Dumbledore gives a slight nod to professor McGonagall.
She clinks her spoon against her glass and asks for the student's attention, the entire hall falling silent as Dumbledore stands up to speak. "Another year, gone! And now, as I understand it, the house cup needs awarded and the points stand thus." the headmaster counts off the points with Gryffindor in Fourth, then Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin being the winner. (y/n) finds Draco looking at her as he and his entire house jumps up to celebrate, her rolling her eyes playfully with a smile as he smirks at her. "Yes, well done Slytherin, well done Slytherin. However, recent events must be taken into account and I have a few last-minute points to award. To Miss Hermione Granger, for the cool use of intellect while others were in grave peril... fifty points!" the girl looks surprised as her house claps for her.
"Yeah, Hermione!" (y/n) claps her back happily as the Gryffindor beams at her Hufflepuff friend. (y/n) turns around and saw the look on Draco's face along with his goons, knowing he wasn't going to like what was going to happen.
"Second, to Mr. Ronald Weasley, for the best-played game of chess that Hogwarts has seen these many years... fifty points!" Ron looks even more surprised than Hermione did and the Gryffindor table is applauding even louder. "Third, to Mr. Harry Potter, for pure love and outstanding courage, I award Gryffindor house... sixty points!" The Gryffindors cheer again, this time even louder than before. "Fourth, to (y/f/n), for looking out for her classmates and her friends with sacrifice and undying protection, I award Hufflepuff with... seventy points!"
"Oh my god!" (y/n) was the most shocked out of everyone, her housemates clapping for her and patting her back.
"Yeah (y/n)! Whooo!" the golden trio cheer out for her and she blushes in embarrassment, looking up at Draco who gives her a hint of a smile before looking away.
"We're tied with Slytherin!" Hermione whispers to her housemates after doing the quick math, the Gryffindors looking up at their headmaster with hope, realising he hasn't finished talking yet.
"And finally... it takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to your enemies, but a great deal more to stand up to your friends. I award ten points to Neville Longbottom!" Neville couldn't believe what he had just heard, the Gryffindors cheering the loudest. (y/n) saw how upset Draco looked, a sad frown on his face as she pouts at him when he sees her, the girl shrugging her shoulders as she claps with the rest of Gryffindor. "Assuming that my calculations are correct, I believe that a change of decoration is in order!" Dumbledore claps and motions his hands towards the Slytherin banners where they flap heavily, the banner changing completely to red and gold with the Gryffindor symbol. "Gryffindor wins the House Cup!" The Great Hall explodes with applause, not only from the Gryffindors but also from the Ravenclaws and the Hufflepuffs. All students, except the Slytherins, stand up from their tables and throw their hats in the air while Malfoy angrily throws his on the table in defeat.
~~~~~~~~
"I still can't believe Gryffindor won!" Draco was still sulky about that fact as he huffs down on the bench up in the astronomy tower, (y/n) chuckling as she floats above him. "And shouldn't you be resting instead of using your powers?" the girl smiles at him upside down in front of him, turning right side back up and settling down next to him on the bench.
"I have to practice so I don't get burnt out so quickly. And don't be so upset. You Slytherins have apparently been winning the House Cup every single year. I think a defeat here or there is granted to humble you down." Draco rolls his eyes but blinks in surprise when (y/n) brings out a small gift wrapped for him. "Also, happy late 13th birthday Draco." the girl was surprised that he pushed the gift away when she tried to give it to him, frowning that he probably didn't want it.
"Give it to me on Christmas break."
"What why?"
"So we can exchange birthday gifts then." the Slytherin boy smiles, the Hufflepuff girl sighing in relief. "What, did you think I wouldn't want it?"
"Kinda."
"What kid doesn't love gifts! Of course, I'll take it but only on Christmas break this year and next year, and the year after. I'll only celebrate our birthdays then." heat flushes through (y/n) as her cheeks turn a soft pink, nodding and putting the gift next to her before turning to watch the sunset. "Where are you staying? The castle is closing for the break. " Draco asks, worried that she wouldn't have anywhere to go.
"I have to stay here." she shrugs and he didn't like how alone she would be. He would offer her to come to the mansion but his father... "I'll be fine Draco. I might explore the place or probably live in the town for a bit."
"What about money-" he gasps when coins suddenly start appearing in (y/n)'s hand, spilling to the floor.
"Fake currency just to let me by. I'll be fine Draco." he nods hesitantly.
"Write to me, every day or whenever you can so I know you're not dead."
"Wow, love the trust here..." she says sarcastically with a smile. "I promise you, I'll be fine."
"Pinky swear it." Draco holds up his pinky and (y/n) chuckles, bringing hers up to curl around his pinky.
"I really am rubbing off on you huh."
