(y/n) - your name
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Draco pursed his lips as he walked next to Hagrid who carried (y/n) in his arms, the group managing to find Harry safe and sound before the giant decided the kids needed to go back to the castle. He looks at her, trying to find a reason for her passing out but all he could think about was the red streaks on her arms again.
"Will she be ok?" Hermione asks, worried for her friend.
"She'll be right as rain once we take her to the hospital wing. Madam Pomfrey-"
"-no!" Draco quickly exclaims, everyone stopping in surprise to look at him. "Don't take her to the hospital wing."
"But she needs medical attention-"
"-she'll be fine! She's just sleeping. That's all. We can take her back to the common room." the platinum blonde hair boy says, the others narrowing their eyes at him. Draco quickly remembered the first time (y/n) looked weak and close to passing out, her begging him not to tell anyone and he thought he should keep that promise to her.
"And how would you know?" Harry snaps, grabbing Draco's attention away from (y/n) in Hagrid's arms. "It's not like you're friends-"
"-no we're not. But I know that this isn't her first time passing out. She's done it in the dungeons corridor. She just needs to sleep. Madam Pomfrey doesn't need to check on her."
"Ok, enough with your blathering. If you think she's ok then we will just let her sleep in the hospital wing. And no," Hagrid quickly cuts off Draco when he opens his mouth again. "I won't ask Madam Pomfrey to check on her since you asked not to." the Slytherin boy nods at the compromise but the golden trio wasn't happy about it.
"Hagrid but she should-" he looks at them with a pointed stare and they quickly shut their mouths.
Hagrid could tell that Draco only wanted (y/n)'s best interests at heart seeing how concerned he was for the girl in his arms, so he decided to do as he asked. The poor boy couldn't stop looking at her, a frown on his face when she made no move except for the shift in her breathing to signal she was alive. Hagrid sent Harry, Ron and Hermione to their common room before he and Draco went to the hospital wing. The giant carefully set (y/n) down on a bed, draping the blankets over her before he left. Draco moved to take her glasses off and set them carefully on the bedside table before turning to leave.
~~~~~~~~
"Not again..." (y/n) groans out in pain as she sat up, waking up to a pounding in her head while blinking away the light that was blinding her. She hissed lowly, opening her eyes to notice that she was in the hospital wing again.
"(y/n)!" she looks up and sees Hermione, Ron and Harry running up to her with big smiles before she could quickly leave the hospital wing. "You're awake!" Hermione bounds into her arms for a hug before she quickly let's go realising her friend might be in pain.
"Are you hurting anywhere?"
"What happened last night?"
"Why did you pass out?"
The golden trio spew out questions non-stop and (y/n) pauses them. "I'm fine guys. Just an annoying headache is all..." she grunts lowly, rubbing her head. "I just wasn't feeling too good so I guess my body shut down on me." she shrugs, trying to lie to the golden trio but they weren't believing her words.
"Did Draco do something to you?" Harry asks with a frown, not realising the said boy was actually hiding behind the curtains. He scowled at the Gryffindor's words, holding back to not curse him from his accusations.
"No, he didn't do anything. I just didn't feel good. I couldn't breathe-"
"-you had a panic attack!" Hermione gasps and (y/n) nods quickly. It wasn't true but she would take that answer if it would get her friends to stop asking.
"I didn't know you had panic attacks. That can be serious." Ron says, the others nodding.
"I'll be fine. I promise. Now what happened last night?" the golden trio go into detail about how Harry was saved by a centaur when they found him and what they discovered last night about Voldemort being the one to drink Unicorn's blood since he was weak. They figured out Snape didn't want the stone for himself, but to give it to Voldemort instead. Voldemort was back and he might become strong again if he takes the Elixir of Life. "Oh my god... that's... that's a lot..." (y/n) rubs her head, trying to process everything when the group suddenly hears the chatter of students who had woken up to have breakfast.
"Are you sure you're ok (y/n)?" Harry asks and she nods while trying to shoo the group away.
"Yes, I promise I'm fine. You three need to go. I'm going to try and sneak out of here back to my common room." the golden trio nods, rushing off quickly.
"You lied, you didn't have a panic attack-"
"-jesus christ!" (y/n) helps in fright when Draco emerges from behind the curtain, scaring her. "What did I say about sneaking up on me!?"
"Why did you lie?"
"I didn't." she doubles down on the lie, trying to get the boy in front of her to believe it but he narrows his eyes at her. "What are you doing here anyway?" (y/n) asks and Draco looks away quickly with a huff making her smile. "You were worried about me."
"No I wasn't!" he quickly snaps back. "I-I wanted to ask what you did to make the wolves go away! Yeah, I came here to ask you that! And-and what the red glowing streaks were on your arm!" Draco exclaims.
Oh no...
"What red glowing streaks?" he glares at (y/n) as she looks at him blankly, her trying to fool him too.
"Fine then what about the wolves?" he pushes and she knows she needed some elaborate lie.
"Those wolves are nocturnal and since they live in the forest which is always dark, their eyesight is terrible so they rely on their hearing. That's why I forced you to stay quiet."
Please take the bait, please take the bait!
Draco narrows his eyes (y/n), trying to find a hint or a tell in her expression to show that she was lying but she was sitting still on the bed looking bored. "...Fine... ok." he backs off the topic.
For now.
The Hufflepuff before him peers past the curtains to the chattering students, her gasping loudly all of a sudden. "Did I miss the final exams!?"
"No, they're tomorrow." Draco says and he sees the visible relief on (y/n)'s face.
"Oh thank god!" she sighs out, falling back on the bed as she runs her hands down her face. "In that case, I think I'm going to catch some sleep today. Good thing for it being a Sunday..." (y/n) moves to get out of bed, her feet touching the floor and she gets up but gasps from the numbness. "Oh, no-!" Draco quickly moves to catch her but stops himself when she falls back on the bed safely. He quickly turns around, cheeks flamed in embarrassment that he was about to help her. "Damn pins and needles."
"I'm going to go." Draco rushes off without waiting for a response. (y/n) just shrugs and rubs her legs until she gets feeling back, getting up and walking away back to her dorm to get some more sleep.
~~~~~~~~
"(y/n), there's some food for you. Again." the girl slowly sits up and rubs her eyes to rid them of sleep, hearing the voice of her prefect calling for her downstairs.
She grumbles as she gets out of the girl's dorms and sluggishly walks downstairs like the dead to open the common room door. Like the last few times, someone had left food for (y/n) by the Hufflepuff house door for her to pick up since she had been sleeping the entire day away and not leaving the dorm to get food. Some of the packages she recognised were from either Hagrid or Hermione since they left notes with them but other times there was no note except for a strand of a green ribbon to tie up packages.
It was sweet but also creepy.
(y/n) closes the door and rushes back upstairs to put the food on her bed, grabbing a pen and paper to write a thank you note for whoever was leaving stuff for her. Making sure her name was scrawled at the bottom, she ran back downstairs to stick the note on one of the barrels outside the door.
Once the door was closed, Draco pops out from hiding and walks over to the door, taking the note from the barrels and reading it with a small smile on his face.
~~~~~~~~
The castle was filled with the bustle and cacophony of chatter of students that rush out of their classes after their final exam, enjoying the bright sun against their skin after being trapped indoors for hours on end. (Y/n), Hermione, Ron and Harry were walking together and talking about their exams, the Hufflepuff stretching and cracking her joints which makes the other kids grimace at the sound.
"I'm so glad those exams are over my god. I hate taking tests, they're so stressful!" (Y/n) groans in relief, looking forward to taking an eager break. Not like she needs it cause she cheats on her exams anyway. She uses her powers as an advantage, taking control over the anti-cheating quill with her powers to write the answers. And how she does that, she cloaks her textbook from sight and gets the answers from there. She does put her own flare on the answers just not to get the teachers suspicious but she's the top student in Hogwarts anyway.
"I'd always heard Hogwart's end-of-year exams were frightful, but I've found they're rather enjoyable." Hermione exclaims and Ron rolls his eyes.
"Speak for yourself. You both are in the top 3 of the school! You always ace your tests!" the kids suddenly turn to Harry who groans in pain, rubbing his forehead right where the scar is. "All right there, Harry?" Ron asks with concern.
"My scar. It keeps burning." the group suggests that Harry go to the hospital wing but he shakes his head. "I think it's a warning. It means danger's coming." Harry suddenly stops, causing the group to pause as well as a look of realisation grows on his face when he sees Hagrid in the distance at his hut.
