"Do you reckon everyone's alright? I know they all managed to leave before anyone got hurt-"
"-no one would go back to the Burrow Harry." (y/n) says, the group all huddling together in a booth at a coffee shop. They all were changed into their civilian clothes, their formal wear in Hermione's purse. (y/n) fiddled with the biker gloves she wore, shrugging on her leather jacket over her black turtle neck as her combat boots tapped the floor softly, brushing against her green chain cargo pants.
She reaches up to hold her necklace, looking down to see Draco's ring on the chain when Hermione helped her hook it on along with her key charm necklace so she wouldn't lose them both. She closes her eyes as she focused on her belongings, forcing through the agony as she fists her hands to try and send her belongings away in her bedroom at Hogwarts. red lighting fizzed around her hands until it burst into soft flames licking around her fingers and she sighs in relief knowing it was done.
She quickly fans away the flames when the waitress comes by. "Coffee?" she asks, chewing her gum with her headphones on. Hermione and (y/n) order their coffee of choice, the boys lost on what they wanted so they went with Hermione's order.
They wait until the waitress walk away to talk again. "So where do we go from here? The Leaky Cauldron?" Ron asks and Hermione shakes her head.
"Too dangerous. If Voldemort's taken over the Ministry, none of the old places are safe."
The front door squeals open and two workmen enter, (y/n) glancing up curiously and she pales immediately but looks away to not raise suspicion as he hides behind her black mask. The trio continue to talk and she drops her hands on either side of her, controlling the bandages to flutter loose as tendrils of ink slither across the floor like vines. They grow and rise up behind the Death Eaters before they could grab their wands, demonic like creatures snarling before they pierce through their necks. They choke on their blood that spills on the floor, garbling and falling to the floor with loud thuds that catches the attention of the trio and they gasp when they see wands clatter to the floor.
"Were they-"
"-Death Eaters." (y/n) growls as she sneers, her growing anger boiling through her to kill every single one that had harmed her, the tendrils ripping out from their necks as their blood dripped from the end.
"(y/n)!" Harry exclaims as she was about to rip them in to pieces, making her look at him as her eyes flared red, ink dripping down her cheeks.
"What!" she snares, the ink ripping through the cracks in the tiles to rip up the ground, pulling the bodies into the hole to dig them back up.
"You can't just kill them in the open like this-"
"-lets go." she snaps at her friends, them quickly getting up to leave, ignoring the blood splatters on the tiles as they left the coffee shop.
"(y/n)..." Hermione whispers, holding her arm as head twitches, pulling back on the ink and bandaging up her hands again. Her doe eyes come back and she wipes the ink off her cheeks.
"I'm fine..."
The trio look at each other warily as their friend walked further up ahead.
"Do you think they..." Ron gulps and Hermione shudders.
"For her to react that way... I don't know..."
"I think she's grown to hate all Death Eaters... I'm not surprised though... with everything she went through..." Harry mumbles out.
"But what if they now know we were there?" Hermione asks.
"The bodies are burried..." Ron says.
"That's true."
"How did they even know we were there?" (y/n) asks as she stops to turn to her friends who shrug.
"Maybe you still have the Trace on you." Hermione asks Harry but Ron shakes his head.
"Can't be. The Trace breaks at seventeen. It's Wizarding law." Everyone stops when Hermione stops, her gasping in realisation.
"We didn't celebrate your birthday, Harry! Ginny and I-we'd prepared a cake. We were going to bring it out at the end of the wedding..."
"Hermione. I appreciate the thought-honestly. But given that we were almost killed by a couple of Death Eaters a few minutes ago..." Harry looks back, urging everyone to continue walking.
"Right. Perspective..." She sighs, nodding.
"We've got to get off the streets, get somewhere safe." Ron and (y/n) say warily.
"I have an idea." Harry says, leading the way.
~~~~~~~~
The night was cold as the group of friends stood in front of a familiar tall building, looking around as the enchantment words were spoken for the secret building of Grimmauld Place to appear. The ground shook as the buildings split apart to reveal another, the shaking on pause as the kids walked into the building that hid The Order.
It was eerily dark as Ron closed the door, the hallway lit up by gas lamps springing to life one by one down the narrow cobwebbed hallway. "I don't like this..." (y/n) whispers as the group glance about, Harry taking a step forward
Just then a great rush of cold air sweeps through the hallway and the groups tongues curl back in their mouths in fear. Some thing shifts in the shadows at the end of the hall, rising from the carpet. Tall, dust-colored and terrible looking. It's Dumbledore, but a ghostly, worm-eaten Dumbledore, a corpse come to life, with empty eye sockets and sunken face. It raises its wand and then rushes towards them. Hermione and (y/n) scream in fright as he howls, the boys holding onto them when he explodes in a great cloud of dust, swirling like mist in the corridor and drifting back to the carpet.
"What was that all about!?" Ron gasps out
"Probably Mad-eye's idea, in case Snape decided to come snooping." Hermione breathes out.
The group walks further into the building once they realised they were all alone, deciding to try and get some sleep. The boys rummaged around the rooms to bring over blankets and pillows for the girls, them shutting all the blinds and covers.
"Here." Harry sets the pillow down on a couch he dragged over for (y/n) and she frowns at him.
"You guys are sleeping on the floor?"
"We're ok with it. Just get some sleep." Harry says, gently pushing (y/n) to lay down on the couch before drapping some blankets over her. "Alright?" he asks and she nods as he tucks her in, looking over to see Ron do the same for Hermione before the boys lay down on the ground in front of the couches. The kids were all quiet for a bit, still terrified of going to sleep and the Hufflepuff brings out her hand to summon a cake. A small cloud of dark red smoke appears, swirling before fading away to reveal a birthday cake for Harry.
He smiles as he sees the lit candles and the writing. "Thanks (y/n)..." she smiles at him, wringing her hand to ease the pain in her hands as everyone sang to him softly, wishing him a sweet 17th birthday before he blew out the candles.
Harry looks over to (y/n) to see that she had started dozing off to sleep, an arm hanging over the couch loosely as the other held her necklace. He sighs sadly, reaching up to carefully take her glasses off and set it on the table, brushing her hair back. He reaches up to hold her hand but he pulls away when they fingers touch, sitting up and carefully moving her hand back up on the couch instead before laying down. He runs his hands down his face with a heavy sigh, watching over the girl as she slept until he dozed off to sleep himself.
He was the last to go to sleep and the first to wake up the next morning, looking around to see Hermione and Ron holding hands while (y/n) had turned around on the couch to hide beneath the blankets from the morning light. He hears creaking from upstairs and becomes worried, standing up with his wand in hand. He looks at the sleeping girl once more, looking so calm and free of pain as she sighs out against her pillow.
That was all he wanted for her. Peace and happiness. Not all this pain or anguish.
Harry rolls his shoulders back as he left the group to head upstairs.
~~~~~~~~
"(y/n), wake up. Come on!" the girl groans as she gets gently shaken awake, turning around to see Hermione up and about.
"What?" she mumbles, sitting up.
"Ron found something."
"Ok, ok..." the girls quickly freshen up and follow Ron's voice upstairs to reveal a door with a name plate on it.
"Regulus Arcturus Black?" (y/n) reads out. "I'm guessing he's important?"
"He is." Harry says as he takes out a locket, taking everyone to the kitchen while retelling the Hufflepuff how he got the locket before he passes her the note to read.
"To the Dark Lord
I know I will be dead long before you read this but I want you to know that it was I who
discovered your secret. I have stolen the real Horcrux and intend to destroy it as soon as I can. I
face death in the hope that when you meet your match you will be mortal once more."
"Jesus Christ... Dumbledore went through all for nothing. So Regulus is R.A.B and he has the real locket. He's also your godfathers brother. Damn..." (y/n) breathes out as she leans back on the kitchen chair, passing the note back to Harry. "Yall related to death defying adventurers I swear to god. This is where you get it from..."
"Question is, did he actually destroy the real Horcrux?" Hermione asks.
"I don't know-" everyone quickly turns their heads to the sound of something clatter and fall, looking at a shut door and Harry quickly signals everyone to stay quiet.
