(y/n) - your name

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(y/n) silently sat up on the roof of the Weasley home, staring up at the stars that twinkled above her as she played with the ribbon of the gift box that sat on her lap. The same gift box that was for Draco's 17th birthday but obviously there was the current situation the two were in. The night sky was suddenly lit up by fiery flames of orange, fire curving to blast against the reeds and blaze around the Burrow in a circle like a fiery snake.

Black smoke flew around to land on the ground, revealing Bellatrix who had a mad grin on her face but it turns into a sneer as she sees (y/n) standing on the roof looking down at her. As she shrieks eerily at her, Harry's eyes flash with hatred and he rushes down the stairs. He bursts out through the front door and past the adults, wand drawn and pelts toward Bellatrix. She then grins, turning around and running past the flames to vanish into the reeds.

"Harry, no!" Arthur yells out, Sirius, Lupin and Tonks trying to run after Harry but they get stopped by the fire.

 "Ginny!" Molly exclaims as her daughter rushes past her, running past the flames with her wand to go after Harry. (y/n) watches the scene with a blank face, snapping her fingers to send the box back into her room with her powers before waving her hand to turn invisible.

As long as she was here, no one was in immediate danger.

"(y/n)? Where's (y/n)!?" Fred and George exclaim, looking around for her.

The Weasley family watch with panic as they see the two black smokes hurtling towards their house, ripping through their house. Molly watched with tears seeing her home burst into flames, the wind carrying the evil cackling of Bellatrix as she and Fenrir fly away into the night. Fred and George, hold their heads in despair watching the ruin, their father and the others soon joining them.

Harry looks around for (y/n) wondering where she was but she was waiting on top of the house for the Death Eaters to think they won this little battle, waiting for them to be far away. "(y/n)... don't..." the Gryffindor watches as the Weasley home was surrounded by red mist, sweeping across the building and surrounding it in a red tornado.

Everyone watches with fear of this new destruction, lightning crackling within the tornado as the orange of the flames were snuffed out. They could hear wood cracking and the building creaking, unable to see what was happening as (y/n) fixed their home. She grits her teeth from the weight, pushing against the Burrow and reverting it back to its strong architectural building. The wind made everyone stumble, holding onto each other tightly as the red tornado floats up and slowly dissolves into red misty wisps. The Burrow was revealed back to its perfect self before its destruction, the red floating away into the night as the Weasleys cry in relief.

(y/n) looks down at the family, snapping her fingers for all her items to go back to her apartment. She rid every evidence of her staying with the Weasleys before she flew away.

"(y/n)!?" Ron calls out, running into the house with everyone else as the searched all over the place to find her gone. "She's... not here..."

"All her stuff is gone too!" Ginny calls out. Harry and Ron look at each other with concern at their friend's blatant use of her powers. It was like she didn't care if she was found out by the whole Weasley family who were confused.

"We wanted to give our princess her birthday present..." Fred and George mumbles sadly, sulking as they went to the Christmas tree that had multiple unopened gifts to (y/n) from the Weasley family and Harry's family.

"We'll give it to her at school." Ron, Harry and Ginny say, the boys trying to figure out what lie to tell to Ron's family about what just happened.

~~~~~~~~
The new school term had started again with Hogwarts students all coming back, the warm sunny days bringing brighter atmospheres despite the gloom over the Christmas break. The students were all mingling about to get to their first day classes without being late, Harry talking to Hermione about what he and Arthur talk about.
"If Dumbledore is travelling, then it's news to the ministry."
"So he's back now?" Hermione asks and Harry nods.
"By the way, have you seen (y/n)?" the boy asks and his friend shakes her head. "She just disappeared after saving Ron's home from the Death Eater attack."
"Just out in the open like that!?" Hermione gasps.
"She's not... she's not acting herself..."
"I'm not surprised..." Hermione sighs out, knowing exactly how her friend feels but she can't simply disappear like (y/n) can whenever she wants.
"No I mean... she acted rigid... almost inanimate. No emotions, just blank..." this made the girl worry, having a bad feeling settling in her stomach.
"We need to find her." what Hermione didn't know was that (y/n) had been following the two Gryffindors, flying above their heads and staying invisible to listen into their conversation.
"Did you know, that night Borgin and Burkes, Draco was looking at a vanishing cabinet." Harry says.
"What would Draco want with a vanishing cabinet?" Hermione asks.
So that's what he's trying to fix.
"You tell me." Harry answers and Hermione frowns, pondering this.
"He looks different, don't you think? Draco. Almost... ill."
"Who could tell the difference?"
~~~~~~~~

(y/n) looked up at the night sky as she stood on the railing, the warm breeze blowing over her as she tried to find the constellations that Draco had taught her to find. She hummed to a song playing on her walkman, walking dangerously on the astronomy tower railing with her arms up to balance her. The cold metal pressed against the middle of her feet, wondering if she would feel pain if she fell over the ledge.

The marble had spread over to her limbs, making her walk stiffly or unable to simply bend at her joints. She didn't know why, didn't know how to stop it. She knew she would be frozen one day, hiding in the room of requirement for the day she turned completely to stone. Being a student wasn't a priority to her anymore, nor was living as a human. The weeks soon bled past her, blurring as one whole month gone as time moved on without her and ignored her presence. She was never meant to be here anyway.

(y/n) stopped and stood still on the railing, facing straight ahead of her as she leaned back and forth.

What if...

She starts leaning forward, unaware of a figure walking up the stairs and rushing forward to catch her before she fell off the tower. "(y/n)!" Harry screams out as he quickly pulls her back onto the safety of the tower floor, his heart racing as he teared up. He had heard someone humming and followed it up the tower to find (y/n), the both of them tumbling to the floor as he held her face gently. "Why!? What were you thinking!?" she gave him no answer as he cried. "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry for everything! Please don't do this! I care about you! You're my best friend, my family! Please don't leave me like this!" He begs her, seeing her dull eyes light up with warmth, like a lantern slowly coming back to life.

"Harry?"

"You're my family (y/n)! You, Ron, Hermione, Sirius... tell me what's wrong! Please don't shut us out! Let us help you!" Harry's hands shook from how cold her cheeks felt, noticing her own hands shaking and he moved to hold them. He freezes from the strange texture, turning them over in his hands to see the smooth marble texture instead of skin.

"I can't feel you... Harry what's happening to me?" (y/n) teared up, emotions hitting her after all this time, a damn bursting as she finally feared for her life. His eyes widen and he pushes up the sleeves of her shirt to see the marble spreading over her skin. He tried to peel it off, tried to rip it away but it caused the Hufflepuff to cry out in pain. It was like her skin was turning to stone.

Harry pushes up the sleeves of her pants to see her legs turned to stone and he panics, quickly picking up (y/n) in his arms and rushing down the stairs to the one common room he would never visit.

"MALFOY! OPEN UP!" he slammed against the Slytherin common room door, pounding against it over and over again until someone opened the door.

"What do you want Potter!?" Blaise sneered but he stopped seeing (y/n) in his arms and he panics.

"Where's Malfoy!? Where is he!?"

"I-I don't know! He hasn't come to school!"

"Shit!"

"What's happening to her!? Did she get cursed!?" Harry doesn't answer Blaise as he runs off to the Gryffindor common room, setting (y/n) in front of the fire as he quickly wakes up Hermione and Ron.

"Bloody hell mate! It's the middle of the night-" Ron gasps as he sees (y/n), rushing over along with Hermione who kneeled next to her friend.

"(y/n)!? Did she get cursed!?"

"I don't know!" Harry exclaims.

"I'm sorry guys..." (y/n) cries, Hermione hugging her tight.

"You have nothing to be sorry about. Nothing at all!"

"If it's anyone who should be sorry it's us. I didn't get to thank you for saving my home." Ron cries out.

"Please, tell us what's wrong." Hermione begs, watching as the marble spread up her friend's neck.

"I don't know! I'm just sorry. I cause you so much trouble, cause you guys pain and I hate it. I'm sorry."

"We forgive you. We should be apologising to you." Hermione says quickly.

"We're sorry for making you save our asses so many times every year." Ron smiles.

"I'm sorry for what I did at the Christmas party (y/n). I care about you too much to lose you like this. I'm so sorry." Harry says.

"I don't want to die. I don't want to die!" the golden trio look at their friend who burst into tears, them not knowing why she said that, but she... she knew that this would be her end in the future. It was only the beginning.

"We won't let that happen. We love you (y/n)." they all move to hug their best friend, all of them crying together. (y/n) hugs her friends tightly, weeping against them as she closed her eyes thinking it would be the end. She didn't want to die like this, didn't want to leave them. She wasn't ready. She didn't want to say goodbye. Her memories fly past her in a dizzying carousel, from the very beginning in year one till now. She held onto them tightly, gasping in happiness when she could feel them. She could feel their shirts, feel the warmth of their hug, their tears on her skin.

(y/n) gently moves them back, looking down at her shaking hands to see the marble disappear. She flexed her fingers and her toes, moved her knees and her elbows as she carefully got up. she could feel the carpet against her feet and the heat of the fireplace against her arms.

"It's gone..." Harry gasps out, his eyes wide and Hermione jumps on (y/n) to hug her, the girls falling over.

"Don't scare us like that again!" She wails out.

"I'm sorry Hermione."

The boys looked at each other behind the girls, concern on their faces about whether or not they should ask. "(y/n)." Ron starts, her and Hermione sitting up to look at him. The Hufflepuff purses her lips knowing it was time to tell the truth to her Gryffindor friends.
