(y/n) - your name

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Snowflakes softly floated down around the astronomy tower, music drifting around the tower as the sun bathed the topmost floor with light. (y/n) sat her back against the bench with her blanket around her, her walkman playing music out loud. Her powers controlled the drawing stencils and the paper as she tried to draw from memory what she saw in the mirror. It had only been yesterday that Dumbledore found her and Harry, warning them that the mirror was going to be taken away but she couldn't take those reflections out of her mind. They were special, a fragment of who she was in another life.

The paper gently floated down to her hands once she was done, happy that it came out clear with the image of an older her, the man and their daughter together. She sighs out with a frown, feeling like an outcast as she wrapped herself in Draco's blanket. (y/n) spent the next few minutes sitting with the music drowning out the silence until quiet flapping could be heard. She looks around and sees a single owl flying towards her with a letter in its beak, dropping it in her lap before perching next to her.

"Why hello there. What did you bring me?" she coos at the owl, looking at the letter to see it was sent from the Malfoy Manor. (y/n) quickly opens it up, smiling when she recognised the chicken scratch on the letter.

How was your birthday and Christmas (y/n)? You better have not opened the gift after I left!

Christmas here was just as quiet as it usually is every year but it was much better thanks to your gift. I have to keep it hidden from my parents or they would destroy it.

There was a picture that fell from the letter showing Draco standing in front of his Christmas tree at home, filled with various gifts that almost flooded the floor. The boy wasn't smiling but there was a hint of a quirk at the corner of his lips as if someone had forced him not to smile but he couldn't help himself. (y/n) read the rest of the letter that detailed what Draco did when he left Hogwarts and all the way up to the current day a couple days after Christmas.

By the way, I sent my owl Hunter. He's dangerous and hurts people, except for me of course.

D.M~

(y/n) snickers as she looks down at the owl that simply looks up at her, hooting and her hands glow red as she summons some owl feed and water for the animal. It coos happily at the sight of food, letting her pet it gently.

"Dangerous my butt." (y/n) rolls her eyes with a smile, summoning an envelope before she starts writing back to Draco about everything that has happened so far. Harry breaking into the restricted area of the library, almost getting caught by Filch and finding the mirror.

P.S. I love the blanket. It's so warm. I have wrapped around me at all times.

P.S.S. Hunter isn't dangerous, he's so cute! he just sat right next to me after finding me up in the astronomy tower.

Puff~

(y/n) waved her hands over the paper with her powers, coloured pencils drawing the scene she was looking at the moment in the astronomy tower with the sun setting and Hunter eating next to her before she folded up the letter to put it in the envelope. "Here you go Hunter." the owl takes by its beak, hooting once more before flying off.

(y/n) smiled as she looked over the various letters that were written to her over the Christmas break, all sent from a certain platinum blonde-haired boy while the two wrote to each other back and forth. They were all hidden at the bottom of her trunk that sat at the foot of her bed along with her drawing, a spell cast to lock the loose floorboard that separates the letters from her clothes and other belongings. She had one last letter to read that Draco had sent her the day before since he was getting on the train to come back to Hogwarts.

(y/n) opened the envelope, reading over it quickly and stuffing it with the other letters before she puts on the floorboard, pressing it down and casting a spell with her wand to have it locked in place so only she could remove it. "(y/n) come on! Everyone is coming back!" she heard one of her other housemates call for her downstairs as she quickly stuffs all her belongings back in the trunk, locking it with a key on a chain around her neck.

"I'm coming!" she calls back out, tucking the key beneath her shirt as she and a few other Hufflepuff housemates ran out to see all their friends again in the Great Hall. "Hermione!" (y/n) squeals out, running over to the girl happily.

Draco walked in with his friends, chatting about what they did over the winter break when he hears (y/n), looking over to see her talking to Hermione about what they did over their break. His friends walk off without him as he stopped by the doorway, a small hint of a smile on his face as she looks at him over Hermione's shoulder. The two simply smile before turning away quickly, not sharing grand gestures of familiarity since people would be distraught or confused as to why Malfoy was being nice to a student. A Hufflepuff at that!

He was still a bully and kept up his reputation, not that (y/n) cared but she made sure he didn't pull any harsh pranks on anyone that could severely hurt them. It was a normal occurrence for Draco to earn a lecture from her in the astronomy tower during their night visits if she found him bullying someone during or in between classes throughout the day.

"How was your break Hermione?" (y/n) asks her, the Gryffindor going on about what she and her parents did for Christmas.

"Oh! My parents got you this. I told them about you and they said that you might enjoy this. I tried telling them it's no use since muggle items don't work here but they insisted." Hermione brought out a digital camera making (y/n) gasp in excitement.

"Oh my god! A camera! You have no idea how bad I wanted to take pictures around here so bad!" Hermione raises a confused brow but shrugs it off, passing her a bag filled with SD cards, batteries and cords for her to use. (y/n) checks that the camera was charged and had an SD card in it, turning away from Hermione to enchant the camera to work with her powers. There was a light red shimmer before it fades away and she turns back to Hermione. "Say cheese." the girl poses shyly with a smile and her friend takes a picture of her. "Cute!" (y/n) shows Hermione who grins at the picture.

"That's actually really good but how did you get it to work? Maybe it's not a muggle camera?"

"What's with the camera?" Harry and Ron approach the girls as (y/n) turns to them with the camera.

"Say cheese!" the boys stop for a moment before grinning widely, throwing their arms over the other's shoulders and (y/n) takes a picture. "Ok, all three of you!" Hermione shuffles to stand in the middle of Harry and Ron before another picture was taken. They start talking and (y/n) looks through the camera while turning around in the Great Hall, smiling until she finds her next target. She zooms in, the lens clearing up before she takes a picture of a certain smiling Slytherin boy.

~~~~~~~~
"What is that?" (y/n) looks up when she sees Draco walk up the metal steps, joining her on the bench of their spot at the astronomy tower while she was looking at pictures she took on her camera. "Another muggle contraption?"
"Yes, a definite favourite of mine. You can take pictures."
"And what's the point of that." the platinum blonde-haired boy scrunched up his nose in distaste.
"You can take a picture of a moment and have it last forever in a way. Like the sunset you just missed out, I took a picture of it." (y/n) flicked through the pictures, finding the sunset and passing it to Draco whose eyes widened at the sight.
"Ok, I have to agree, that looks spectacular." He was changing through the photos and she panics, trying to grab the camera off him before he could see the one she took of him. "You took one of me!?"
"I took one of all my friends!" she tries to explain but he looks at her smugly.
"That's a good looking photo. I should charge you for taking a picture of a Malfoy."
"Oh shut up." (y/n) chuckles, trying to take the camera from Draco but he grins as he stands up with it in his hands. "Draco no." He looks through the camera and quickly takes a picture of her. "I'm going to delete those when I grab it off you!" she gasps, jumping up to snatch the device from the grubby boy's hands. The Slytherin boy laughs as he sits back down next to the Hufflepuff girl who turns the camera off and sets it next to her, the children looking up when they heard soft hooting. "It's your owl!" Draco raises his arms for Hunter to perch on it as he lowers it, the bird cooing at (y/n) knowing she had treats for him and she secretly summons some in her hands.
He wonders if she just keeps owl treats in her pockets. "Hunter's getting fat because you keep feeding him." Draco points out with a cheeky smile. "He hops on my desk when he knows I'm writing to you because you give him those treats!"
"I can't help it! He's cute!" Hunter hops onto (y/n)'s leg to eat off from her hand, letting her pet him. "I mean the poor thing has been flying back and forth during the break so we could send each other the letters." she shrugs, watching as Hunter ruffles his feathers before moving to fly away.
"I wanted to ask, why do you end your letters with Puff?" Draco asks.
"Because I don't want to get you in trouble with your parents. Especially your dad." the boy's eyes widen at the considerate girl next to him knowing his dad would be very harsh on him if he found out he was talking to a girl. The letters were vague enough to lie which house she might be in but if she ended the note with her actual name... Draco shudders at the thought
"Thank you... for looking after Hunter and for the letter..." he mumbles out, looking away in embarrassment but (y/n) just grins at him.
"No problem Draco."
