(y/n) - your name

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Hey princess. How are your Christmas holidays going?" (y/n) smiles as she hears Draco's voice over the phone, sitting up on a ledge next to the window with a book on her lap. She was at the secret building of the Order again with her friends and the Weasley family and Sirius after hearing about what happened to Arthur.

"Ok... not great exactly... I think Ron's dad got attacked by one of Voldemort's followers."

"Shit he was...?" the boy wrings the phone cord in his hands with worry at the fact that the Dark Lord was becoming bolder and making dire attacks like this in the open. "Why?"

"We don't know yet. I'm here with the family."

"I'm sorry I couldn't be with you (y/n)..."

"I get it Draco. I'm ok. Everything is ok." the girl lies to her boyfriend, not wanting to get him worried. "Tell me about your holidays so far?" the Hufflepuff smiles and listens to her boyfriend talk about everything he did with his mum, playing with the bracelet on her wrist. They spoke for hours while she watched the night sky out the window until he had to go again.

"I miss you." the Slytherin mumbles out sadly.

"I miss you too Draco. But we'll see each other again in a couple days at school."

"Can't wait for it princess. I have to go. Stay safe ok. Tell Loki, Hunter says hi."

"Will do. Bye Draco." the couple part ways on the call, (y/n) turning to Loki who was perched in front of her and watching her with wide eyes. "You scare the scrap out of me, you know that." he simply chirps, happily brushing up against his companion's hand as she pets him. "I think it's time. Keep an eye out for anyone ok." the owl nods, flying up to perch on his companion's head as she turns invisible and leaves the room she was staying in. She was rooming with her friends since she knew it would be impossible to hide from them. She flew out of the room and downstairs to where Arthur was sleeping in his wheelchair in the living room, dropped with knitted Christmas blankets his wife made him.

(y/n) stood in front of the poor man that was covered in wounds, quietly rubbing her hands together until a low glowing ball of light grew between her palms. She spread out her powers, holding Arthur's hand as it rushes over his wounds to heal them. The Hufflepuff bit down on her bottom lip to hold back the pained grunts, taking away the damage and wounds on his body. He started healing whereas she started gasping in pain from what felt like broken ribs and bones, falling to her knees as she coughed out blood and her head spun from the dizziness.

(y/n) quickly let go of Arthur's hand, trying to silence her coughing as blood splattered past her fingers. She struggled to get up, staying invisible when the man woke up in surprise and she flies away quickly. The Hufflepuff could hear ecstatic exclaims of joy as the family saw their dad looking so much better while she fell against the edge of the bed.

"I'll be ok Loki... just... need to rest." the owl looks up at his companion with worry as she closes her eyes to sleep against the bed on the floor, the little bird padding up to her and snuggling against her.

Liveliness and warmth took over the cold winter months as students were happily walking back to Hogwarts after their Christmas holidays, catching up and talking about what they did over the last few months. The sun was high and the sky was a bright blue but even this happy atmosphere couldn't brighten Draco's worry when he didn't see (y/n) anywhere. He thought he would see her at the train station and ride the train together to the castle but he saw no sign of her. No word from her either after their last call a couple nights ago.

He was anxious for her, going as far as almost asking the golden trio where his love would be but even they didn't know and it made him panic. "Have you both seen (y/n)? I haven't seen her anywhere." Harry asks as the golden trio walked past the Slytherin group.

They haven't seen her either!?

"Not since she left early a few days ago... I hope she's ok..." Hermione says and Draco purses his lips, running away from his friends that were calling for him to look for (y/n).

"What do you want Malfoy?" Cedric was the one to open the Hufflepuff dorm room door when the Slytherin slammed his fist against it over and over again.

"Where's (y/n)?" he snaps back, wanting an answer quickly.

"I don't know actually. She's not in the dorms yet-" the platinum blonde-haired boy didn't let the other student finish as he ran off, searching for the empty hallway where he knew the door would be. He paced in front of the wall three times, the familiar door opening up and he quickly enters it to find her asleep in bed.

Draco lets out a breath of relief he didn't know he was holding, silently walking over to (y/n) to gently sit next to her on her bed. "(y/n), princess-" the boy freezes when he brushes her hair back from her face, noticing the dark bruising on her skin and the bloodied wounds that were yet to heal even with the multiple bandages. Sudden fury filled the slytherins body, fisting his hands painfully tight at the sight of his Puff being injured.

"Draco?" the Hufflepuff wakes up with a jolt noticing she wasn't alone, seeing the pure rage on her boyfriend's face and she quickly sits up but hisses in pain. That single sound caught the boy's attention back on her, gritting his teeth as he carefully lifted her sleeves and clothes respectfully to see how hurt she was.

"Who hurt you-"

"-Draco no one-"

"-who hurt you." he wasn't asking, demanding for names and (y/n) flinched back from the rage in Draco's dark grey eyes. He softens noticing her movement and guilt overtakes his anger. "I didn't mean to-I'm sorry for scaring you, I-"

"-I know Draco." his Puff moves to hold his hands in hers, brushing her fingers against the red nail dents he had pierced through in his skin which soon disappear from her touch. "No one did this to me..."

"Then how did this happen!?" this wasn't something the Hufflepuff could tell her boyfriend, she wasn't ready to.

"Draco I can't-"

"-don't hide this from me! How am I supposed to help you if you don't tell me!?"

"Don't-"

"-please (y/n), don't keep me in the dark." Draco holds (y/n)'s cheeks and she sighs in fatigue, like she was just tired of hiding, tired of lying. She silently raised her palms up, the boy looking down to see the same red welts from his palm now on hers and he understood. "You-"

"-I had to help Ron's dad-"

"-you don't need to help everyone! Especially when it puts you at risk-"

"-I had to Draco-"

"-you don't have to!" he yells angrily, standing up abruptly. "It doesn't have to be you all the time! You don't have to keep sacrificing yourself like this! They don't deserve it-they don't deserve you-"

"-what else am I supposed to do then!?" the Hufflepuff screams back, trying to hold back her angry tears. "Just sit back and do nothing when I know I could help-"

"-YES!" the Slytherin grabs his Puff's shoulders, trying to figure out what the storm of words in his head meant, to try and say what he really felt but he was just so frustrated. "You don't need to help them all the damn time!"

"I know my limits-"

"-do you!? They're going to kill you! Every time there's something going on with Potter, it's always you saving them!"

"They're my friends!" the girl yells back, the couple arguing furiously.

"Then what about me!?" Draco yells out, flinging his hands up in the air as he walked away to try and calm down. "You do everything they ask you to do and when I ask you not to-"

"-you don't control my actions Draco-!"

"-I DON'T WANT YOU TO DIE!" he screams out, (y/n) quickly shutting her mouth realising why her boyfriend was so angry about all this.

"Draco..."

"I can't lose you..." he breaks down, dropping onto the bed as he held his head in his hands to hide his tears. "I can't-I don't know what I would do if you're not here anymore... if you're taken away from me... for merlin's sake you're self-sacrificing!  I just want you to say no! Just once! Just once I want you to put yourself first!"

The Hufflepuff didn't know what to say, watching her boyfriend cry silently into his hands. "...I'm sorry..." he froze at her words, lowering his hands as she carefully moved over to hold them in hers. He couldn't bare to look at her as she entwined their hands together, leaning her forehead against the middle of his back. She wasn't apologising for her previous actions, for the fight the couple just had or for yelling at him and he knew that and that's what frightened him the most.

Draco knew why (y/n) was apologising and it made his blood run cold.

Please, please don't apologise...
