(y/n) - your name
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hermione?" (y/n) calls out as she walks into the girl's bathroom, hearing the quiet sniffling of the crying girl. "It's (y/n)."
"Go away..." Hermione whispers, a crack in her voice and (y/n) frowns hearing how sad she was.
"Friends don't leave friends upset..." the sniffling stops as she stands in front of the cubicle that Hermione was in.
"I'm your friend?" she asks.
"I thought we were... It's ok if you don't want to be..." (y/n) mumbles out, but quickly hears the lock unlatching before the cubicle door opens to reveal Hermione quickly wiping her eyes.
"No no! I'm happy we're friends! Ron said I didn't have any..."
"He's an idiot. Boys generally are." (y/n) says and Hermione chuckles.
Meanwhile, back in the Great Hall, Draco looks up when he heard the doors slam open as Quirrell rushes in and screaming in panic. "TROLL! IN THE DUNGEON! TROLL IN THE DUNGEON!" The chatter immediately goes quiet and Dumbledore rises from his seat in concern. Everyone looks at Quirrell and he stops in his spot in front of the headmaster. "Thought you ought to know." the next thing that happens is the poor man fainting to the floor before an erupting cacophony of screams fill the hall, everyone freaking out and running for the exit when Dumbledore yells out for silence.
They all stop and calm down immediately, looking at him. "Everyone will please, not panic. Now, Prefects will lead their houses back to the dormitories. Teachers will follow me to the dungeons." the students do as their Headmaster asks of them, Percy directing the Gryffindors back to their dorms while Harry and Ron talk about how in the world a troll could get in the castle since they're so stupid.
Harry suddenly pulls Ron from the line with panic. "Hermione and (y/n)! They don't know!" the boys quickly separate themselves from the crowd as Harry pulls Ron with him, running down corridors. Draco catches sight of them, wondering what the two idiots were doing and looks around to see if anyone was paying attention to him before he slips away from his house to follow them.
Back in the girl's bathroom, (y/n) hides her hand behind her back to summon a cloth before taking hold of Hermione's arm and leading her to the sink. She gets the cloth damp, wiping her friend's cheeks of her tears. "Thank you (y/n)."
"No need to thank me. What are friends for." the girls beam at each, but that happiness is slowly short-lived when they suddenly hear loud thumping and an angry growl behind them. They slowly turn around to see a giant troll behind them, holding a huge club and they stumble back in fear. "Oh, that's freaking hideous..." (y/n) shudders lightly when Hermione screams out in fear which triggers the troll, swinging its club and she grabs the frightened girl before dodging the swing. The girls roll behind the troll by the bathroom entrance and (y/n) helps Hermione up before shoving her out. "Hermione go!"
"No-"
"-get a teacher! Just go!" the poor girl hesitantly runs away leaving (y/n) in the bathroom with the troll as it roars at her. "Let's go fugly." she grits her teeth as she uses her powers to slam the troll against the bathroom stalls, squeezing her hands as it howls and roars in pain. Her arms splintered and cracked, red streaks crawling up her skin like heated vines as her eyes flamed red before she slammed her hands together in a closed fist. The troll passes out from suffocation as its body falls like a lump on the bathroom floor, the red glow around its body waning off as (y/n) gasps for air.
"(y/n)!" she quickly turns around in fright seeing Draco by the entrance and she quickly hides her arms behind her back, glad that he was too focused on the passed-out troll next to her instead. "How did you-" (y/n) hears Hermione, Ron and Harry running back to the bathroom and she takes out her wand to cast the levitating spell over her and Draco, making them fly up to avoid them as she uses her powers to secretly hide them from sight. "How are you-" she slaps a hand over Draco's mouth to shut him up, flying them out of the bathroom but close enough to hear the golden trio as they hover over the students.
Snape, McGonagall and Quirrell suddenly run to the bathroom as Draco and (y/n) hover behind them, listening into their conversation as McGonagall scolds but praises the children. "I would have expected more rational behaviour on your part, Miss Granger. Five points will be taken from Gryffindor for your serious lack of judgment. As for you two gentlemen, I just hope you realize how fortunate you are. Not many students could take on a fully grown mountain troll and live to tell the tale. Five points... will be awarded to each of you. For sheer dumb luck."
With that, (y/n) flies her and Draco down to the dungeon's corridor, carefully setting them down on the ground and stopping using her powers so now they were in clear sight if anyone walked by them. "Those blathering idiots don't deserve those points! You're the one that took down the troll!" Draco exclaims angrily.
"Don't tell anyone Draco. I'm serious." he looks at her in confusion as to why. "Whatever you do, just don't tell anyone what happened."
"But-"
"-please." the boy purses his lips, seeing the fear in her eyes and he nods, bringing up his pinky.
"I promise." (y/n) smiles and curls her pinky around his tiredly, Draco gasping when she stumbles weakly against him.
"Are you hurt!?"
"I'm fine... Just tired." she pushes off him, rubbing her head to ease the sudden headache. She hadn't used her powers like that before since she found out she even had them. Too quick and too fast. "I'm going to go sleep Draco. Night..." she mutters as she walks off, waving goodbye to the boy and not realising that she had revealed the red streaks on her arms to him. He was immediately filled with concern when he saw them but decided to just go back to his common room.
~~~~~~~~
"How are you feeling?" Draco whispers as he and (y/n) once again sat together up on the astronomy tower, sharing a blanket and sitting close to each other on the bench.
"Ok. I think I slept the entire day yesterday."
"Lucky it was the weekend."
"Oh yeah, I would've gotten in major trouble if it was a school day." (y/n) says but Draco was focused on her arms that were covered up by the sleeves of her hoodie, wondering if those lightning marks were still on her. They weren't there before she fought the troll...
"But you did miss out on the Quidditch game today."
"Ah, the Gryffindor versus Slytherin one right? Yeah, I'm not a major sports fan." Hermione, Ron and Harry told (y/n) everything that happened during the game, right down to every single detail including Snape jinxing Harry's broom. They talked about why and figured that he probably knew about the stolen item from vault 713 and was probably trying to take it from under Fluffy who was guarding it. Yes Fluffy, that was the name of the three-headed dog guarding the item beneath it. Also, it was Hagrid's dog. The golden trio managed to get information out of the hugable giant and reported back to (y/n). "But who won?"
"Gryffindor." Draco snaps angrily, crossing his arms. "But it was funny to watch Potter fumble around on his broom."
"Oh that was Snape jinxing him apparently." the platinum-haired boy looks at the girl next to him in shock at his favourite teacher being accused of jinxing Potters broom.
"He wouldn't!"
"That's not what Harry, Hermione and Ron told me. I got more info about the three-headed dog too. His name is Fluffy!"
"Fluffy!?" Draco looks at (y/n) in disbelief as she nods her head before diving into everything the golden trio told her so far, the boy sitting next to her listening intently long through the night. They spent most of the night talking before they decided to head back inside to avoid the cold, the kids sharing the walkman to listen to music as they walked through the dark hallways.
"You want to see Fluffy?" (y/n) whispers and Draco pales slightly at the thought of seeing the giant dog.
"Ok...?" he hesitantly says, not wanting to look like a wimp in front of the girl next to him before she leads him to the Grand Staircase Tower. They rush up the stairs to the forbidden door on the third floor, Draco trying to open it but it was locked.
"Turn around and keep an eye out for Filch." he does just that, (y/n) using her powers to unlock the door and swings the door open before pulling Draco in.
"Wait, how did you-" he yelps as she pulls him down the end of the corridor, running to the locked door and stopping before it.
"Fluffy's in there." Draco desperately looks behind him in case Filch was there and (y/n) waves her hand over the door as it glows red to open it up without a sound, the colour fading away when Draco turns back around. "Take a look." he peeks over (y/n)'s shoulder and his eyes widen seeing the dog.
"No bloody way..." it was sleeping soundly before (y/n) quickly shuts the door quietly and locks it again. "That's amazing!"
"Let's go before we get in trouble." The two kids dash back out of the forbidden floor and down to the dungeons corridor, the one place for their meet-ups during the last few months of the school year.
"I can't believe that, that thing is called Fluffy!" Draco chuckles, him and (y/n) leaning against the hallway that leads to the kitchens. "That is not a Fluffy!"
"I know right! But Hagrid probably has it as a pet or something." the children fall silent, yawning quietly.
"Christmas is coming up soon in a couple months... are you really going to stay here?" Draco asks and (y/n) nods.
"Yeah, I have to. It's not like I celebrate Christmas or anything."
"You don't?"
"I don't think so. There's no reason for me to anyway."
"What about your birthday?"
"Boy I can't remember if I have a birthday." (y/n) deadpans and Draco flushes in embarrassment at the supposedly dumb question. "When's your birthday?"
"June 5th." he answers and the girl next to him gasps loudly.
"Why didn't you tell me!? That was months ago! We passed your birthday!" he simply shrugs and that makes her frown at how nonchalant he was about his birthday.
"I don't celebrate my birthday."
"You should..."
"My father sees it as unimportant." (y/n) gets upset by Draco's words, furious at how his own father treats him so terribly, on his special day too.
"It's important Draco. Your birthday is important." he looks at her with a frown and she smiles softly at him. "If this counts for anything, Happy belated Birthday." Draco's spirits lift at that, giving (y/n) a smile back. "So how old is the birthday boy now?"
"I turned 12 this year. Do you know how old you might be?"
"Well since I don't have a birthday, I'm just guessing here. I might be around your age then."
"Who's there!?" the children jump up when they suddenly hear Filch, looking at each other before dashing away back to their common rooms. (y/n) and Draco both pant lightly as they brace themselves inside their common room against the door, a sweet smile on both of their faces.
