(y/n) - your name

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Have you been up here all day?" (y/n) yelps in fright from the sudden voice, quickly hiding her powers as her textbooks, notebooks and quills drop to the floor. "What-"

"-don't sneak up on me like that!" she turns to face Draco, her face pale and fear in her eyes hoping that he didn't see her using her powers.

"How were your books floating!?" he gasps out, pointing to the scattered objects that were now laying still on the floor.

(y/n) tried to come up with an excuse, quickly grabbing her wand from next to her and showing Draco. "I was practising the levitation spell."

"Flitwick hasn't even taught us that yet!"

"I asked him. I'm ahead of the class at the moment." Draco narrows his eyes at (y/n), not believing her and he crossed his arms.

There was no way someone could be better then him. "Prove it." she rolls her eyes at him, holding her wand out and hovering it above her belongings before casting the spell. Her books and stencils started floating up gracefully, following the movements of her hand as she sent them flying around Draco which made him stumble back in shock. (y/n) chuckles lightly at his expression before bringing her belongings back to her and stacking them neatly in front of her. "Are you a pureblood!?" Draco blurts out, trying to wrap his mind around how this girl in front of him was able to control multiple objects already. She had to be strong, a powerful witch.

But all he got was a shrug in response. "I don't know."

"What do you mean you don't know!?" he stomps towards (y/n), sitting down on the bench while she was sitting on the floor. She didn't know if she should tell him, a frown growing on her face and Draco wonders what was going through her head.

"I... I don't have a lot of my memories..." he furrows his brows in confusion at her words but lets her continue. "The last thing I remember is waking up on the train and knowing my name. That's all. I don't know where I come from, who I am, who my parents are or if I'm muggle or pureblood..."

"You don't know who your parents are...?" Draco whispers, feeling sorry for (y/n). He held his mother in high regard, the only parent that gave him warm parental love whereas his father was cold and cruel but he would do anything to try and earn his love. Even if it meant being top of his classes and exceeding in school but he was failing since Potter was everyone's favourite and school celebrity.

(y/n) shakes her head, sighing out as she watched the sun start to set. "No... I'll be staying here every holiday since I don't really have a home either... I don't even know why I'm here..." the kids fall silent from the tense topic until (y/n) speaks up again to change the topic. "Yeah, I was up here all day." Draco blinks at her and then remembers the first thing he had asked her.

"Just studying?" she nods. He was right in the sense that she was practising using her powers.

"What did you do today?" he was taken aback by her question. No one was truly interested in what he did in his life and to hear (y/n) ask him what he did on his Sunday... honestly felt strange. Nevertheless, her went on a full detailed explanation of what he did from the moment he woke to coming up to the astronomy tower later that evening. (y/n) told him what she did today or what she had to eat when he told her what he ate in the Great Hall, just two children comparing their day and talking.

"Where were you yesterday night?" Draco asked her and she looks up at him strangely but then remembers the three-headed dog she encountered.

"Why? Were you up here?" he didn't say anything, looking away with a pout and she snickered knowing he was expecting her to join him here last night. "Ok, you have to promise me not to tell anyone what I'm about to tell you." Draco looks at (y/n) with wide eyes, feeling giddy about hearing some secret.

"I won't." she raises a brow at him, extending out her hand with her pinky up.

"You need to pinky promise. This stays here and between us only. I'm serious or I'm levitating you out of this tower." Draco gulps, looking down at (y/n)'s outstretched hand.

"Pinky promise? Is this another stupid muggle thing? And I thought you don't have any memories."

"I may not have memories but it doesn't mean I don't have traits or a personality." she rolls her eyes at him and he glares at her.

"This won't curse me will it?" (y/n) was about to say no but thinks otherwise with a mischievous grin on her face.

"It will if you break the promise." Dracos face pales, shrieking when she lunges forward and curls her pinky around his.

"No! I don't want to do this pinky promise if it will curse me!" he pulls his hand back, looking at her with wide eyes as she just shrugs.

"Too late. Now you wanna hear what happened or not?" the poor boy looks at his hand anxiously but nods, (y/n) going into detail about what happened with her and the group as they found the three-headed dog on the abandoned floor. Draco listened intently, like two kids sharing fantastical stories with each other while the sky coloured in different hues of pink, purple and orange.

"One of a wizard's most rudimentary skills is levitation, the ability to make objects fly." Flitwick, the Charms professor stands on a bunch of books to make up for his short stature and overlook the entire class. It was another school day that was slowly coming to an end, some bored and some listening intently to the professor. (y/n) was clearly one of these students as she sat in the back like previously, her hood over her head. Draco was another of these bored students, not bothered to pay attention as he and (y/n) glance at each other every now and then to roll their eyes at the professor's words.

"Uh, do you all have your feathers?" Flitwick says, some students raising their feathers as Draco watch how (y/n) threw hers up and watched it flutter back down to catch it against her finger, toying with the feather. "Good. Now, uh, don't forget the nice wrist movement we've been practising, hmm? The swish and flick. Everyone." (y/n) looks over at Draco, mocking the movements and he rolls his eyes as he follows with the rest of the students to copy the movements of the spell. He knew she already knew how to do the spell so that's why she was mucking around in this class. "Good. And enunciate. Wingardium Leviosa. Off you go then." The class begins to enunciate and do the movements on their feathers to cast the spell.

Draco casts the spell but nothing moves, trying again with the rest of the students and he huffs in annoyance before looking up to see (y/n) having her feather already floating easily. She looks around making sure no one was paying attention before she sends the feather flying high above the students and plucks it on top of Draco's head which he quickly swats away in annoyance. She just smirks at him, her other hand hiding on her lap as she uses her powers to make his hair suddenly start floating up in random spikes.

Draco furiously writes on a note, chucking it to (y/n) as he tries to tame his hair.

'Stop messing with me!'

She chuckles and stops for his sake, seeing his face slowly turn red in anger. She brings her feather back to her, letting it dance above her like it was caught in a mystic breeze before it slowly floats back down on her desk.

"Oh, well done! See here, everyone! Ms. Granger's done it! Oh, splendid!" Flitwick congratulates Hermione since she managed to cast the spell correctly and (y/n) looks over to see her feather float back down on her desk while Ron puts his head on his books dejectedly. Seamus begins swishing at his feather and (y/n) grins as she flicks her hand to cause an almighty explosion to blow up his feather.

Flitwick gasps, as everyone in the class turns to the source of the explosion to see that Seamus is charred again with his feather, now smouldering to ashes. "I think we're going to need another feather over here, Professor." Harry says and (y/n) quickly writes down on the note Draco threw over to her before throwing it back to him, letting him catch it and open it up.

'That's some burnt chicken.'

Draco could hear (y/n) giggling and he looks at her with a raised brow since her note wasn't really that funny.

On Halloween night, dinner in the Great Hall was accompanied by glowing Jack-O-Lanterns floating around in the air above the students, thunder striking ominously outside the castle. The tables were all filled with various sweets and treats which made (y/n) scowl at the thought of having sweets for dinner but clearly, the other students were loving it.

"This is ridiculous, this isn't proper food." She turns to face Ron and Harry who look at her with their faces stuffed with cake, candies and pie. "You both are disgusting." They swallow heavily as she turns to see Hermione's spot empty. "Where's Hermione?"

"Parvati Patil said that she wouldn't come out of the girl's bathroom. She said that she'd been in there all afternoon... crying." Neville tells (y/n) and she notices Harry glancing at Ron with a disapproving look on his face but the redhead just shrugs.

"What did you both say to her!?" (y/n) says, standing up and wacking both the boys upside the head and they whine in pain.

"I didn't do anything!" Harry exclaims, pointing to Ron. "He mocked her about not having any friends!"

"Oi!" Ron gasps at the betrayal but (y/n) tsks.

"I don't care, you both better apologise to her when she comes back." all the meanwhile, Draco was snickering at (y/n) scolding Potter and Weasley before she ran out of the Great Hall to find Hermione.
