"That's it students, get that nice wrist movement in. It's all about the accuracy to get the spell to perform correctly." Flitwick says, the students practising on casting a spell in the air without saying the words.
Draco was disinterested in the class, flicking his wrist left and right and around to fool Flitwick before putting his wand down when the professor wasn't looking. He leaned his head on his arms that crossed over on his desk, looking around the class and his gaze stops at (y/n) who looked equally as bored. She was balancing a feather on her finger, sitting in the far back of the class in the seats opposite from him and hidden away from Flitwicks gaze thanks to the students blocking his view of her.
He wondered why she wasn't sitting with the Gryffindor group like she normally was, remembering the note he had scribbled in potions still in his pocket from weeks ago. He takes it out, keeping a lookout before throwing the note at her. He snickers when the paper ball hits her square in the forehead and she looks down at the ball that falls onto her lap.
(y/n) furrowed her brows in confusion, wondering who the hell threw the paper ball at her as she rubs her forehead. She looks around and notices Draco snickering at her and she narrows her eyes at him before opening up the note to see what he wrote.
'Why are you with Potter and Weaslebee?'
(y/n) rolls her eyes but decides to write a response. Draco sits up straight when he sees her write something, a small smile on her face before she rolls up the paper in a ball again. She looks around to make sure no one was paying attention before throwing it across the room. Draco quickly catches it, trying to act inconspicuous and waving his wand left and right when Flitwick glanced at him. He immediately opened the note when no one was looking his way, nose scrunched at the response written underneath his sentence.
'It's none of your business.'
He glances up at (y/n) who moved to lie down on the seat, pulling her hood over her head to get some shut-eye. She desperately wanted this day to be over already, feeling so tired and she wanted to eat something too. Draco raises a brow at the girl as she lifts her hood every now and then to check that Flitwick wasn't looking before closing her eyes to sleep.
"No way she's actually sleeping in this class..." Draco mutters out, laughing lowly. The class continued to drag on until it ended and the students took down notes of chapters they had to read before their next class, the platinum blonde-haired boy walking over to (y/n) and flicking her forehead before he walks away. She gets startled awake noticing the students packing up to leave, quickly grabbing her bag after noting down the chapters she needed to read and rushed out of the class.
"I'm so done with school already. When's the holidays coming up?" (y/n) stretches as she walks with Harry and Ron who grumble in agreement, both equally as exhausted.
"There's so much to read, I'm dreading it already." Ron whines out, Harry looking over at the girl who was looking around the place suddenly while sniffing the air.
"Dinner is getting ready! I'm going to get out of this uniform and come back relaxed. I suggest you guys do the same. It helps you to stay awake." (y/n) says, rushing to her common room and the boy simply look at each other before shrugging.
The girl dashes down the steps into the dungeon's corridor, moving through the crowd of students to get to her common room after doing the password to the door. She sighs in relief at the warm sweetness that hits her from inside the common room, heading up to the girl's dorm to grab her change of clothes before taking a shower in the connecting bathrooms. Once she was cleaned and dried, (y/n) dressed in her hoodie and trackies before putting on her ugg boots, grabbing her books and pen to take notes while she had her dinner.
As soon as she stepped out into the dungeon's corridor, she was met with Draco who raised a brow at her appearance. "What are you wearing?" he was wearing his house-coloured sweater and school-assigned plaid pants with slippers, taken aback by the clothes (y/n) was wearing. She was wearing all dark colours with no hint of yellow, taking notice of that damn muggle contraption hidden beneath her hoodie.
"What, never seen a girl wear a hoodie before?"
"A what?"
"You... you don't know what this is?" Draco hesitantly shakes his head. "It's just a sweater but with a hood." (y/n) says, pulling the hoodie up over her head after she put her headphones on.
"How is that working here? Muggle devices don't work around magic." Draco asks as he looks at the walkman, following (y/n) while the two head over to the Great Hall for dinner.
(y/n) tried to form a lie as to why her device was working before blurting out a response. "It's enchanted."
"That's illegal! That goes against the Ministry of Magic! No high level of witch or wizard even has that kind of skill to be able to enchant things like that to work around magic!"
"Oh shut up Draco, it just plays music." (y/n) rolls her eyes, the boy shocked by her sudden foul words. She used to be just a meek and shy girl on the first day of school and now out of the blue a couple months in, she was comfortably speaking to him with no disregard for her words. "Will you stop complaining if I let you listen to some songs?" Draco simply huffs, pushing past (y/n) and walking into the Great Hall to sit with his friends at his table.
She simply moves to her table, sitting down on the seat and grabbing some dinner while taking down notes. This was all she did for most of the night, chatting with Harry, Ron and Hermione here and there while Draco's crew made fun of the students around them before they left to go to their common room. There were only a couple of students loitering around in the Great Hall including Draco and (y/n) before the two of them decided to go to their common room. They walked together to the dungeon's corridor silently before splitting apart to go to their common rooms.
~~~~~~~~
The night was still and quiet, no sense of movement or living creatures being awake except for the two children who struggled to sleep. They tossed and turned in bed before deciding to leave their dorms and get some fresh air outside. The Hufflepuff common room door and the Slytherin common room door both open as (y/n) and Darco slipped out to walk out into the dungeon's corridor, almost scaring each other when they come face to face.
"Can't sleep?" Draco asks and (y/n) shakes her head, noticing how he was holding one of her extra blankets she had left behind the night before.
"I'm guessing you can't either..." she whispers and he shakes his head. He could faintly hear the melody of a song that drifted from her headphones that hung around her neck before she paused it. "We can't stay here, we might get caught..."
"I actually know a place..." Draco was hesitant. Was he really going to share the tower with this girl? His only place of solitude with her? "Let's go." he reaches out to hold her hand but he quickly stops himself, clutching the side of his sweater before walking out of the dungeons while (y/n) followed him. It took a bit of time since Draco tried to remember how he got to the Astronomy tower in the first place but he manages to take them both up to the familiar flight of rickety metal steps, wounding up to the open tower.
"Oh my god..." (y/n) gasped in awe as she rushes to the side railings, looking out at the night sky where the stars were closer and so much brighter. Even the full moon looked bigger and rounder, like a giant ball of white light hanging in the darkness. "It's beautiful here..." Draco hums in agreement, moving to sit on a bench before (y/n) joined him after a couple of minutes. He shyly draped the blanket over the two of them, exchanging no words but just sitting in silence as they watched the stars.
(y/n) looked over at Draco, seeing his eyes sparkle as his hair, which wasn't gelled anymore, flew around from the soft breeze just like hers. She moved to put her headphones back on to play the song, hiding a hand behind her back to block off the flash of red as she created a duplicate pair to plug into the walkman before passing it to Draco. He looked at it in confusion and wariness, hearing the song drift from the headphones and he looks at (y/n) as she points to her pair on her head. He hesitantly takes them, putting them on and he immediately was surrounded by a sweet melody.
"And if I only could, I'd make a deal with God and I'd get him to swap our places"
"Be runnin' up that road, be runnin' up that hill, be runnin' up that buildin'"
"Say, if I only could, oh."
