(y/n) - your name

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Thanks for the map!" Harry and Ron both exclaim, grinning at the smaller girl as she nods meekly while the three of them head to potions together.

"No problem..."

"You're (y/n) right?" Harry asks and she nods. "I'm Harry and this is Ron. Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you (y/n)!" Ron says happily.

"Nice to meet you too..."

"She's very shy." Ron whispers in Harry's ear but obviously, he wasn't quiet enough since (y/n) heard him and Harry gives him a pointed stare before looking at the girl.

"Farsighted or nearsighted?" he asks her, pointing to her glasses.

"Nearsighted. You?"

"Same!" Harry quickly takes his glasses off and (y/n) does the same, the kids exchanging their prescriptions.

"Your eyesight is terrible! Why is everything so blown wide and focused?" (y/n) stumbles, the boys chuckling as they quickly catch her before she falls.

"And I can barely see anything out of yours! It's all blurry!" Harry says, the children returning the glasses to their correct owners.

"Because my eyesight is not as bad as yours." (y/n) snickers with Harry, Ron being left out of the conversation and just being confused.

"Can we just get to class, please? I don't want to get in trouble." Ron begs and the three kids rush to potions, making it in time before the professor arrived.

"(y/n)! Over here!" Hermione calls out happily, the girls sitting together as the boys sit next to them in pairs. Draco raises a brow when he saw (y/n) walk into class with Potter and Weasley, grimacing in disgust at the boys.

"Why is she with them and not her own house?" Draco mutters out, his friends shrugging in response. The classroom burst into chatter and excitement as the students talk to each other with their cauldrons bubbling between them, Draco quickly scribbling on a note to pass to (y/n) next to him when the doors slam open and everyone shuts their mouths.

Snape comes rushing in with his cloak billowing behind him. "There will be no foolish wand-waving or silly incantations in this class." He stands before the class, his hands pressed together and a scowl on his face. "As such, I don't expect many of you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art that is potion making. However, for those select few... who possess the predisposition," he looks at Draco who smiles at the compliment that soon leaves Snape before he continues with his speech, looking over at Harry who wasn't paying attention and instead was writing in his notebook.

(y/n) quickly took notice of this, warily looking around before staring at the boy. What she didn't realise was that Draco noticed the sudden glimmer of red in her eyes and around her fingertips when she flicked her wrist to send a jolt at Harry to make him sit up straight. He looks around in shock and confusion, wide eyes staring at Snape as he scolded him.

Draco was too astonished at what he saw, blinking his eyes rapidly to see the red glimmer gone as soon as it appeared. He thought he had gone crazy and maybe just saw something reflect something off from (y/n)'s glasses, moving to go back to listening to Snape who started berating Harry with questions he didn't know how to answer. Hermione kept throwing her hand up since she knew the answer but (y/n) quickly shook her head and the girl slowly put her hand back down.

"Pity. Clearly, fame isn't everything... is it, Mr. Potter?" Snape says and Harry pipes back at him.

"Clearly, Hermione knows. Since it's a pity not to ask her."

"Harry no." (y/n) whispers, Hermione looking at him in shock as the whole class giggles at his comment.

"Silence." Snape snaps at the children and they quieten down, turning to Harry looking a bit insulted by this child. Harry looks back in fear at the professor as he suddenly rushes to his table, grabbing a chair to sit opposite from him. "For your information, Potter... asphodel and wormwood make a sleeping potion so powerful, it is known as the Draught of Living Death. A bezoar is a stone taken from the stomach of a goat and it will save you from most poisons. As for monkshood and wolfsbane, they are the same plant, which also goes by the name of aconite." (y/n) quickly started taking note of what Snape said, him nodding at her in approval as he calls out to the rest of the class who was sitting silently still. "Well? Why aren't you all copying this down?" the students quickly obey Snape as he goes to his desk and sits down, taking his quill to dip it in the ink before writing something down. "And Gryffindors, note that five points, will be taken from your house... for your classmate's cheek."

'Damn, I wouldn't be surprised if you managed to get all your teachers mad with you by today.'

(y/n) scribbles down the note passing it to Harry who rolls his eyes at her with a hint of a smile.

'That would be some sort of record then.'

Draco scowls as he watched (y/n) and Harry giggle together, gripping his quill tightly.

~~~~~~~~
The Great Hall was filled with students around midday, using their free time they had to either catch up on work, study or to get something to eat. (y/n) sat at her table but was facing Harry, Ron and Hermione as they sat at their table, talking to each other while they watched Seamus trying to do a spell that turned water into rum. There was a sudden explosion that scared everyone before they started laughing at Seamus when his face was covered in soot.
"Poor guy." (y/n) mutters out, fanning the smoke away as Hermione did the same. "What do you all have next?" The four kids continue talking to each other, Draco muttering under his breath from a distance.
"Why's that dumb Hufflepuff hanging around a bunch of even dumber Gryffindors?" Blaise mentions as Draco's crew looks to stare at the group.
"Is she that retarded not to be able to make friends in her own house?" Pansy snickers, the others nodding in agreement.
"What do you think Draco?" Marcus asks and before the said boy could say anything, soft hoots ring in the air as a flock of owls swoop in from the open gaps in the ceiling.
"Mail's here!" Ron gasps as the owls soar by, dropping parcels to students.
Harry and (y/n) both get nothing but Harry sees the newspaper Ron has put down. "Can I borrow this?" Ron nods and Harry unravels the newspaper to read it. "Hey, guys, somebody broke into Gringotts, listen." Harry urges (y/n) to come over to their table, her standing behind him as he read the article about someone breaking into Gringotts but nothing being taken. "The vault in question, number 713, had in fact been emptied earlier that same day. That's odd. That's the vault Hagrid and I went to."
"Is that supposed to be odd?" (y/n) asks and Harry nods, explaining to her what happened while he was with Hagrid and how he had taken something from the vault. "Wait, did the vault open with a key?" Harry's eyes widen as he looks at her, shaking his head.
"No! My vault was opened with a key Hagrid had but this vault was opened by the goblin."
"That's very strange... and it was a mission Dumbledore sent Hagrid to complete too." (y/n) says, the group nodding.
"We need to go to our next class!" Hermione suddenly says, the group rushing to pack their stuff and running off. Draco was watching the interaction the entire time, a deep frown on his face seeing how (y/n) had become friends with the golden trio of Gryffindor and the idea of that made him so mad.
"I'm going to show that Potter!"
~~~~~~~~

(y/n) rushed to her dorm to drop her stuff on her bed and took her jumper and cloak off, her tie suddenly coming off but she didn't have enough time to put it back on before rushing out from the common room and out into the dungeon's corridor. She accidentally bump into someone when she wasn't watching where she was going, profusely apologising to the person she bumped into.

"I'm so sorry!" she looks up, eyes wide seeing that it was Draco. He had a scowl on his face but it fades away when he realises it was (y/n).

"You need to watch where you're going puff!"

"I'm sorry Draco!" (y/n) says quickly moving to run off to class but she realised she forgot her map. "I forgot my map! I'm going to be so late!" before she could run back to her common room, Draco grabs her arm and drags her out. "Draco what-"

"-we have the same flying class together. I know where to go." he snaps quickly, the kids running through the hallways and finally going out to the training grounds where the rest of the class was standing in two lines with their brooms next to them.

The sun was high and bright, warming up the green land brightly but that wasn't a concern to (y/n). "Wait Draco I'm not-" he doesn't listen to her as he rushes to his side with his Slytherin house, (y/n) looking at Ron, Harry and Hermione in confusion when it was the Gryffindor house and not the Hufflepuffs. Before she could leave, Madam Hooch approaches the class and Hermione quickly grabs (y/n) by the back of her shirt and pulls her to stand next to an empty broom.
