The new day at Hogwarts finally arrived, an excited buzz in the air as all students of all ages woke up and started getting ready for the first day of their classes. (y/n) was immediately grumpy, annoyed at how early she had to wake up to get ready. The other girls in her shared dorm were chattering and giggling as they got ready, talking about their classes or whoever had caught their eye the night before.

All the talk about (y/n) being chosen for all the houses had died down and she was glad to not be the school's main source of gossip, glad that no one would bother her now. Why she was here, she didn't know. Why she was chosen for all houses, she didn't know. Whatever memory she had led her here to Hogwarts for what reason, again she didn't know.

She got up and grabbed her uniform to change in the bathroom stall after brushing her teeth, pulling up the stockings beneath her skirt and buttoning up her shirt that hung over it. She hated tucking anything so she left her uniform as it is. The morning was quite warm and (y/n) contemplated whether or not to wear the grey jumper. She could always take it off later so she put it on and brushed out her hair, letting it be before grabbing her bag that was packed the night before and her glasses. Her shoes were waiting for her by her bed, slipping them on after stuffing her tie in her bag.

She didn't know how to tie a tie. Maybe she could ask someone.

That suggestion flew straight out the window as her anxiousness hit her, not knowing how to ask someone for help. She was so alone and scared, hating talking to strangers and new people. She didn't know how to start a conversation, how to talk to someone. (y/n) pursed her lips and left the common room, walking out into the dungeons corridor from the hallway her house shared with the kitchens. She saw Slytherin students walk past her from the door that led down to their common room on her left, giving her glares and nasty looks. She held her bag tightly, not noticing a certain platinum blonde-haired boy glancing at her when he stepped out from the steps all dressed and ready for his classes for the day.

Draco has his uniform primed and neat in appearance, hair slicked back and class utensils in his bag ready. He instantly made a group of friends, other than his goons Crabbe and Goyle, as they talked to him. His crew, so to say, consisted now of Pansy Parkinson, Blaise Zabini, Marcus Flint and Theodore Nott. They were gossiping about Potter and some other students who were beneath them, Pansy mainly trying to spark up a conversation with Draco but his attention was grabbed by the single yellow uniform amidst the sea of green.

(y/n) stood idly, grimacing at the stares of the Slytherins and Draco moved to her side, walking slower in a subtle way that left a gap for her to hop into the crowd to walk out of the dungeons while he talked to his friends to distract them. "Is that the all-house girl?" Blaise whispers, pointing to (y/n) as she walked in front of Draco.

"She could've chosen Slytherin and yet she chooses the weakest and dumbest house in Hogwarts! So she must be dumb and weak!" Pansy mocks loudly for the poor girl to hear and Draco rolls his eyes.

He was not interested in this conversation or with the girl that was in front of him. "What classes do you all have?" Draco took out his schedule, the others doing the same. "Crabbe, Goyle, you're with me for transfiguration." he points out, the others showing what classes they had first.

The students all walked into the Great Hall, going to their respective house tables to have breakfast. The hall was filled with louder chatter and excitement, students talking to each other and eating but this didn't bother Draco as he sat down with his friends. He looked up to see (y/n) sitting at her table, the two of them facing each other and he saw her reading while eating some toast. There was no one else who had sat with her, the other members of her house already in their own friend's group leaving her all alone.

"Look at the pathetic witch! She's a loser!" Pansy cackles, pointing to (y/n) when she notices Draco looking at her.

"Let's just hurry up and eat. I do not want to be late for my first class." Draco tries to change the subject, deciding to stay away from the Hufflepuff girl so his friends don't target her. He freezes for a minute, confused at his own thoughts as to why he was suddenly looking out for this mudblood and he scowls. "What did she do to me? Did she cast a spell on me!? That filthy mudblood!" he grits lowly, glaring at the lonely witch.

~~~~~~~~
(y/n) huddled against the wall of the castle as she was led to her first class, holding onto the cloak of an older year Hufflepuff student who was guiding her. She had no clue where her classes were and had quietly approached one of the older students for help, gently tugging on their cloaks to get their attention. They immediately cooed at how small the child was, finding her absolutely adorable and they agreed to help her find her classes. The older student brought (y/n) to her transfiguration class, letting her peer into the room to see other students already inside or walking inside.
"There you are. Your first class." (y/n) was hesitant in walking in and the older student smiled softly down at her. "It's ok. I'm sure your class is nice. Why don't you try sitting at the front, closer to the teacher? You'll be ok."
"Thank you..." (y/n) whispers, the older student nodding and walking away before she walked into her class. No one paid her any attention and that eased her anxiousness but she wasn't sure who she could sit with. She slowed down to a table where a girl with unruly brown hair sat, scribbling away seriously in her notebook. "Excuse me..." the girl looked up quickly, being met with the all-house witch standing before her. "I'm sorry for bothering you but is it ok if I sit with you?"
"That is perfectly fine by me! My name is Hermione Granger! What's your name?" Hermione says enthusiastically, extending her hand out for a shake.
"(y/f/n)... It's nice to meet you too Hermione." she shakes her hand, the girls smiling at each other as (y/n) sits down next to her. "Thank you for letting me sit here."
"Oh it's no problem at all! I was simply doing some pre-reading before the class started." (y/n) simply nods, taking out her notebook and quill. She didn't need them but it was better to blend in with the rest of the students. The girls turn around when they hear loud chatter, seeing Draco walk in with one of his goons. He immediately scowls at the students that were staring at him and they look away, he and his goon proudly walking to the front of the class to sit at the table next to the girls.
"Oi, not here!" Draco hissed, shoving his goon to the other seat so he could take the one next to (y/n) instead.
"Where's your tie (y/n)?" Hermione asks.
"Oh, uh it's in my bag." Draco listened in and glanced at (y/n) as she took out her tie, showing it to the other girl sitting next to her. "I don't actually know how to tie one..."
"I can help you with that!" Hermione takes the tie as (y/n) takes her jumper off, letting her tie it around her neck for her while trying to show her what to do.
"Thank you again..."
"No problem!" the class immediately goes quiet when the doors open and the rest of the students that were standing rush to get into their seats, McGonagall walking into the class to start teaching her students. The class goes on as they took notes, Draco glancing at (y/n) every now and then until she caught him looking at her. She nods at him in questioning but he quickly looks away until they turn to the back of the class when the doors open loudly. Two boys rush into the class after they ran a marathon through the castle, panting for air as they talk about how they made it.
Oh, how wrong they were when McGonagall, who had previously transformed into a cat, jumped off her table and transformed back to normal. (y/n) watched the boys get scolded by the teacher before they sat down, scribbling on the corner of her notebook quickly and passing it to Hermione when she noticed her roll her eyes.
'Who are they?'
'The one with the glasses is Harry Potter, the other is Ronald Weasley'
(y/n) nods in understanding after Hermione wrote down the answer to her question, going back to her work. The class ends with McGonagall assigning chapters to read for homework, the students filtering out of the classroom for their next class. (y/n) quickly goes to the teacher's desk, tapping on the wood quietly to get her attention.
"Hello (l/n), what can I do for you, dear?" McGonagall smiles at the quiet girl.
"Sorry Miss but do you know where I can get a map to find my classes?"
"Oh! Here, you can take this one. I understand that a lot of the students do get lost when they first arrive here." McGonagall passes a map to (y/n). "Which class do you have next?"
"Potions but I know it's next to the kitchens in the dungeon."
"Thats right dear. Now off you go. Severus is not kind to tardy students." (y/n) nods and walks off but stops, going back to the professor.
"Sorry, can I have one more map?"
"Of course dear." McGonagall passes another map to the young girl, smiling as she quickly packs up her stuff and rushes out of the classroom. The professor catches a glimpse of the Hufflepuff student passing the extra map to Mr. Potter and Mr. Weasley. "I'll make sure to give her house some points for her act of kindness."
