A single star dying a long way off grasp
And nobody noticed that it is now gone
It lived for a second and died in a gasp
Eternal 's the game and it was but a pawn

A single star dying, it won't shine again
And everyone noticed that it is now gone
It gave the earth life and we worshipped it then
We mourned it at dusk and we hailed it at dawn

A single star dying and nobody cares
Because we don't think about what that could mean
Maybe there's somebody saying their prayers
We'll never find out and we never will keen

When our star's dying we all will be gone
Extinct in this void or just scattered across
To Sun, to its light and its warmth we were drawn
And we'll be the only ones mourning its loss
