____________
Your dance lessons all throughout your childhood and teen years have finally paid off. It's been no longer than three months since you first became a trainee under S.M Entertainment, and you've already been asked to perform live in front of thousands of people.
It sounded crazy when you were first asked you to perform a dance with NCT's WinWin at the MAMA's - you thought your manager was kidding for a solid ten minutes. You haven't even debuted yet - why would S.M want to showcase you onstage with one of their idols who's been training for years and who's already debuted in a boy group?
Turns out there's a specific reason for it. None of the trainees currently under S.M Entertainment specialize in Traditional Chinese Dance like WinWin does. Except for you. You're Chinese, you grew up in China - in fact, you were recruited for S.M at a local show for your dancing. Your vocal and rap skills may be weak, mostly because of lack of training, but if you were judged purely on your dancing skills, you would easily be ready to debut at this point, and apparently, S.M thinks your skills match WinWin's, because you're now scheduled to perform a traditional Chinese dance with him on the MAMA stage in four days time.
Up until today, you've both learned and practiced your parts of the routine separately. Today is the first day that the two of you will be meeting, to put both of your parts of the routine together and perform it like it's meant to be performed.
You take a deep breath before stepping into the studio, trying to convince yourself not to be nervous. Don't treat him like a god because he debuted already. He's a human, just like you. He's probably nice. Stop freaking out.
You open the door, overwhelmed by the loud music playing - you must have been so absorbed in your thoughts that you didn't hear it before. It's the music to your dance routine, and WinWin is going over it by himself. He doesn't seem to notice you, so you close the door behind you as quietly as you can. You watch in awe as he executes each move gracefully. There's no way I look as good as that when I'm dancing...
Suddenly, WinWin seems to notice your reflection in the mirror, because he screams slightly and stumbles in the middle of his spin, almost falling to the ground. You jump slightly, surprised at his reaction.
He quickly turns to face you, sighing heavily upon seeing your non-threatening appearance.
"Jesus, you startled me," he mumbles in Chinese, scratching the back of his head and laughing awkwardly. He seems to notice his language mistake because he speaks again, in Korean this time, "Can I help you?"
You laugh slightly and respond in Chinese. "Sorry for startling you, I didn't want to interrupt your dancing."
He looks shocked that you responded in his Native language, but then his eyes widen slightly upon realizing who you are.
"Ohh, wait, are you...Y/N?" He asks cautiously, not wanting to get your name wrong.
"Yep, that's me. And you must be...WinWin?" You pretend not to know who he is, causing him to giggle.
"You can call me Sicheng," he extends his hand towards you, and you shake it firmly. The handshake lasts longer than it's supposed to - Sicheng just keeps shaking your hand, staring at you with a shy smile on his face. You chuckle, not moving your hand.
"You're an excellent handshaker, Sicheng, and I'd love to stand here all day, but unfortunately, some idiot thought it was a good idea to give us only four days to practice the routine together, so we should probably get to work."
"Oh, yes, of course," Sicheng quickly retracts his hand, looking a bit flustered. "I'll start the music, and you get into position?"
"Sounds good." You decide to tease him a bit, so you clarify, "I start on the right, yes?"
He turns to look at you, panic in his eyes. "Wait, what? I've been practicing starting on the right...We can't start on the same side..."
You laugh, ruffling his hair slightly. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding. I know I start on the left."
Sicheng sighs, sounding exasperated, and playfully swats your arm away. "That was meeeaaaan, you scared me."
__________
The rest of the day goes surprisingly smooth. It's a bit awkward combining the dance you both learned separately and adding in the moves that require two people, but both of you get the hang of it after about an hour, him getting it down slightly faster than you.
You quickly find that you had no reason to be nervous about meeting Sicheng. He's super nice, a bit of a goofball, and honestly, he's been acting twice as shy as you felt before meeting him, which you find a bit odd, considering you're the significantly less intimidating one out of the two of you, given your reputations and skills.
You also learn that you bond much faster with someone when you're dancing together. You already feel quite comfortable around Sicheng by the third day, and apparently, he enjoys your company as much as you enjoy his because he approaches you as you're taking a water break on the third day and taps your shoulder.
"Hey, uh, Y/N...I know a lemonade stand down the street by the park, they make the best lemonade ever, and we've been practicing all day, so we could probably use a refreshments break. Wanna come with me?"
You hold up your water bottle, shaking it slightly so he can hear the water inside. "Um, I already have water..."
Sicheng looks slightly embarrassed. "Oh, right, sorry. I'll just go get some water from the water fountain-"
You laugh and put your water bottle down. "Sicheng, I'm just messing with you. Come on, let's go to the lemonade stand." You link your arm with his and start heading towards the exit of the building. Sicheng's laugh is delayed as if it only hits him ten seconds later that you were kidding around and you actually agreed to get drinks with him.
You don't regret your decision to go with him. He was right - the lemonade is shockingly good, and the weather outside is surprisingly pleasant. The two of you decide to take a walk through the park before returning to practice. WinWin has to wear sunglasses so that nobody recognizes him and starts dating rumors, seeing him walking through the park with a girl.
The two of you walk in silence for a minute or two. You soon realize he's too shy to start a conversation on his own, so you initiate it instead.
"So, how's life as an idol? Are you glad you got to debut?"
"It's...interesting. It gets stressful, but I like it overall. I get to dance, which is what I love. I wish I got more lines though..."
"Practice your singing more, and they'll give you more lines."
"Hey!" Sicheng smacks your arm playfully, and you laugh and shake your head.
"I'm kidding. They really should give you more lines."
Sicheng nods, laughing slightly. "So, what do you plan to do with your life? Do you plan to stay in the industry for a long time? Or do you plan to use your idol career to boost an acting career? I mean, after you debut."
"You mean if I debut," you correct him.
"No, I meant after you debut. I've seen you dance. There's no way they won't debut you. Plus, you're gorgeous."
You blush slightly at his comment, looking up at him to see if he said that by accident. It's clear that he did by the red tint that's spread across his cheeks.
"I-I mean, you're...You're pretty, like all the other idol girls. L-Like, you're pretty enough to become an idol. That's what I meant. Not like I think you're pretty. I-I mean, I do think you're pretty, I mean..."
You laugh, cutting him off. "Sicheng, relax, I know what you meant. Thank you."
He simply nods in response, clearly embarrassed from all his stammering, even though you found it rather cute. An awkward silence falls over the two of you after this, so you initiate small talk.
"What type of lemonade did you get?" You ask him, leaning over to try to see into his cup.
"Just lemonade. What did you get?"
"Why would you get plain lemonade when they had raspberry lemonade?" You ask him as you tilt your drink towards him so he can see.
"Because regular lemonade is better."
You wag your finger in his face as you take another sip of your raspberry lemonade. "Not true. Have you tried raspberry lemonade?"
Sicheng shakes his head. "Have you tried regular lemonade?"
"Of course I've tried regular lemonade, everyone has. Try this."
You hold your cup up to Sicheng's mouth, and he retracts his head, looking disgusted.
"You already drank from it!"
"I'm not sick."
"Yeah, but...you already drank from ittttt," he repeats in a whiny voice.
You almost snort with laughter.
"Sicheng, please don't tell me you still believe that girls have cooties."
Sicheng rolls his eyes, trying not to laugh, as he grabs your straw and takes a sip of your raspberry lemonade. His eyebrows shoot up.
"Wow, you're right. The raspberry is better. Therefore, it's mine now."
"Told you s- wait, what?"
Sicheng grabs your drink before you can process what's happening and replaces it in your hand with his regular lemonade.
"Hey! That's stealing!" You laugh as you grab his arm, trying to get your drink back.
"No, it's not! Yours is right there, this is mine!" He giggles, holding the drink up out of your reach and backing away from you.
"Liar! Sicheng, don't make me tickle you."
Sicheng continues to hold it out of your reach. "What makes you think I'm ticklis- AHHhhh! Ahh okay, s-stop it! stop it!" Sicheng jerks away from you, laughing as you tickle his stomach. You continue to tickle him, causing him to step back away from you, tripping over a root in the ground and falling on his butt. Spilling the raspberry lemonade all over himself in the process.
He gasps and your hands shoot to your mouth. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry...I-I didn't mean to..."
You stick out your hand to offer to help him up, but Sicheng doesn't move. He just stares up at you with a blank expression. You're worried that you upset him. You're about to apologize again when he speaks.
"Give me your lemonade."
You scrunch your eyebrows in confusion but hand him your lemonade nonetheless. Suddenly, his face breaks into a large grin and he splashes the lemonade all over you.
"Ahh! Sicheng!"
"HAha! Payback!"
You laugh and sit down next to him. "You're so immature!" You say, taking your original raspberry lemonade cup back from him. Noticing that half of it is still left, you smirk as you dump it onto his head.
"Ahhh! No fair, we were already even!" Sicheng shakes his head around, causing the lemonade in his hair to splatter onto you. You cover your eyes, giggling.
"Stop it! Now we're even!"
"No, we aren't!"
Sicheng drops his cup, reaching over and tickling you mercilessly. You squeal, falling back against the ground, squirming and trying to grab his hands.
Sicheng only lets up when two girls close by stop walking, looking down at the two of you.
"You're such a cute couple!" One of them says, giggling. This seems to snap Sicheng out of his playful mode, as he quickly gets off of you and picks up his lemonade cup, standing up.
"Oh, no, we're not a couple!" he calls after the two girls, who are already walking away, having moved on to a new conversation.
You stand up as well, catching your breath. Sicheng looks at you, worried. "Did you hear that? They thought we were a couple."
"Yeah, I heard," You laugh, ringing out the bottom half of your drenched t-shirt. Sicheng continues to stare at you.
"We're not a couple." He says.
"I never said we were."
"Why did they think we were a couple?"
You shrug, picking up your lemonade cup from the ground. "We were acting like one, I guess."
"No, we were acting like friends!"
You give him a strange look. "They just made a mistake, then. No need to get all upset about it."
"I'm not upset."
"You seem upset."
"Well, I'm not."
You decide to let it go. "Alright. Wanna get more lemonade? I didn't get to drink more than a quarter of mine before your shirt absorbed it."
"No. We should go back and keep practicing. The show is tomorrow night." He says seriously. Before you can answer, he starts walking back towards the studio. He walks ahead of you, not waiting for you to catch up. You don't know what got into him, but you decide not to bring it up. He's probably worried about dating rumors.
__________
You were worried that Sicheng would still seem upset with you by tomorrow night, possibly effecting and messing up your stage dynamic, but luckily, he apologized as soon as the two of you got back to the studio, explaining that he was just worried about dating rumors. Just like you had suspected.
Somehow, the dynamic between the two of you on stage is perfect. Despite your immense nervousness before the performance, you don't even mess up once. You were worried about looking stiff on stage, but you just focus on the music and making your motions fluid, blending your movements with Sicheng's until the two of you became one graceful dancer on the stage.
It's hard to differentiate between the volumes of applause for different performances, but the applause you get seems just as loud as any applause you're ever heard at the MAMAs. Plus, after taking your bows, your manager is waiting backstage, congratulating the two of you and telling you both that you did amazing. You can't stop beaming the entire time backstage as you change out of your elegant, flowy costume and into your dress to watch the rest of the MAMA performances.
Coincidentally, as soon as you finish changing, you literally bump right into Sicheng. Well, maybe not too coincidentally - your dressing rooms are right next to each other.
Sicheng smiles at you, scratching the back of his head awkwardly. "You did amazing."
You smile back at him, rocking back and forth excitedly on your heels. "So did you!"
Sicheng laughs anxiously. "I was so nervous before we went on stage," he admits.
You scoff. "You were nervous? You're the Chinese dancing king. You did incredibly. You always do."
There's no denying the blush on Sicheng's face at your compliment. "If I'm the Chinese dancing king, you're the Chinese dancing queen. You seriously did amazing."
"Please, I'm not nearly as good as you. I haven't even debuted," You laugh.
"Exactly. Imagine how good you'll be after even more practice. You're already just as good as me. Probably better. I feel like my dancing was too stiff..." Sicheng looks at his feet.
"Sicheng, your dancing was mesmerizing. That was my first time performing, and I would not have had the courage to perform that well if it weren't with you. You made my first performing experience amazing."
It's a combination of your utter happiness, and the adrenaline still pumping through your veins from the performance, that causes you to suddenly pull Sicheng into a tight hug. Little do the two of you know that Haechan sees this, quickly gathering all the other members around.
Sicheng pulls away from the hug without hugging you back. You're momentarily hurt, but that's quickly resolved when, not noticing the people watching, and caught up in the excitement of the moment, Sicheng pulls you against him and kisses you right on the lips.
It feels like your cheeks are on fire. As soon as your process what's happening, you kiss him back, wrapping your arms around his neck.
"WOOAHHHHHH!!" a chorus of yells ring out from behind you. Both you and Sicheng jump away from each other, turning around to find the rest of NCT gathered around, pointing at the two of you and shouting things.
You cover your face in embarrassment.
"Guys, stop it," Sicheng pleads.
Most of the noise dies down, with the exception of the noises coming from Lucas, who's still jumping around excitedly, making the "Oooooooh" sound effect after everyone else has stopped.
Sicheng laughs and lunges at Lucas as if he's going to attack him, causing Lucas to screech and retreat to the back of the mob of boys. After this, all seventeen boys watch the two of you expectantly, some of them tapping their feet.
"WinWin, do it!" Yuta says encouragingly.
"Do what?" you ask, confused.
"Come on, Sicheng, just ask her!" Kun says.
Sicheng sighs, turning towards you, his face even redder than before if that's even possible. "Y/N listen. If you say yes to this, we have to keep it a secret. My career could be ruined, and your future career could be, as well."
You nod, your eyes wide. "Of course."
"Promise you'll keep this a secret?"
"I'm not even sure what you're gonna ask-"
"Please, just promise."
You shrug, having a feeling you know what he's gonna ask. "Okay, I promise."
Sicheng takes a deep breath, dropping his previously-fidgeting hands to his sides.
"Will you go out with me?" He suddenly blurts. You probably should have hesitated a bit longer on your answer to make it more romantic, but you don't.
"Yes." You immediately respond.
"Seriously?" Sicheng's eyes widen.
You smile, nodding frantically. "Yes, I would love to!"
Sicheng just stands there, speechless.
"Dude, she said yes!" Yuta yells, shaking Sicheng's shoulders. Before you know it, the entire mob of boys is jumping around the two of you, yelling in excitement.
It's hard to tell who starts the chanting, but it grows fast.
"Kiss! Kiss! Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!"
You roll your eyes at the boys. "We already kissed! You all saw it!"
"KISS! KISS! KISS! KISS! KISS!"
"You're not gonna stop until we kiss again, are you?" Sicheng asks, sighing.
"KISS!! KISS!! KISS!!"
Sicheng laughs and turns towards you, looking at you as if asking permission. You shrug and smile, and he pulls you in for a second kiss, which proves to be just as magical as the first one.
The chanting turns into unified screeching from the rest of the boys, and you end up having to pull away from the kiss because you can't stop laughing. These past few days could not have possibly gone any better.

I hope you enjoyed this chapter! Sorry it got so long, I love WinWin and I got carried away (this happens to me a lot)! Also, I decided to close requests for a little while until I can get caught up on them, then they will open again. I also decided to expand this book to write for some more groups!
