Chapter 8: Beyond The Grave
Updates start from Chapter 6!
_____________
I bolted up from bed gasping for air. Catching my breath while looking around, I saw I wasn't in my room. I was in a king size bed hooked up to some medical machines. Looking to the dresser, I saw it was 12 in the afternoon. I then saw my phone which was cracked. Picking it up, I unlocked it to see a bunch of calls and text messages from Kai and a few from an unknown number.
My eyes then trailed to the date then widened. I slept for 4 days straight. Laying back down, I stared at the ceiling. The last thing I remember was stopping the tornado then seeing someone flying through the sky. Someone was forming tornadoes. This wasn't something natural.
My stomach started to rumble. Waving my hand in the air, I turned off the power to the medical machines. I then ripped the wires off me and got up. Walking into the bathroom, I dug around the bottom cabinet for a toothbrush. Finding one, I washed it, placed some toothpaste and started to brush. Looking in the mirror, I stopped brushing. My eyebrows were white and my hair was also white. My eyes were glowing golden brown then glowing blue. Blinking a few times, it stopped and my eyes turned to normal.
I continued to brush my teeth and couldn't help but feel so strong more than I ever did before. There was a new energy flowing through me. Finishing brush my teeth, I walked out the bedroom and quickly found the stairs. Jogging down it, I then realized I was back in a familiar place but couldn't remember where. Ignoring it, I just found myself in the kitchen and saw food on the counter. Opening a bag I saw it was burgers and fries. I sat down and tore the paper off before shoving the food in my mouth. After 5 minutes, I had eaten 4 burgers, 3 cups of fries and made myself 3 sandwiches.
I heard footsteps entering the form and I held my hand out towards the sound causing the people to stop moving due to my power. Turning my head, I looked to see a bunch of guys and a kid.
"FREYA!" the little kid shouted in excitement. My eye focused on them and a bunch of memories flashed through my head. I then recognized who they were to which I released them. I turned my attention back to my food and continued to eat.
"Hey, I didn't here you get up," Leo spoke as he sat next to me. I shrugged and continued to eat. "So how are you feeling?" he asked.
"I feel fine," I replied as I ate my sandwich out. "You sure? You kind of look different and your vibe is much more different," he slowly spoke as he examined me.
I shrugged, "I feel different," I replied as I chugged a whole glass of water.
"Oh, Ethan," I called out causing him to whip his head towards me, "Did you see anyone else in the storm besides us?" I asked.
He slowly shook his head, "No why?"
"Well, I saw someone. The more I think of it, the more I want to say Kai but Kai can't fly nor even cause tornadoes," I explained. Ethan's eyes then widened as he figured something out to which my eyebrow rose, "What is it?"
"Do you think it could be the same person that attacked you that one night. He did have power over air," he suggested. I slowly nodded my head, "It could be."
"I think we should stay here for the time being until we find out who this person is," Ethan casually spoke. I watched as he mentally started to used his powers. Within a blink, I was now seeing what he was doing. He was sending a message to someone. The writing then disappeared and I looked at Ethan to see he was staring at me a bit shock.
"You can see what I'm going mentally?" he asked. I nodded my head, "Yes and who were you sending the message to? I feel like you know something but you're not telling me," I glared at him.
I watched as his body shifted from relax to on edge.
"I think you need some rest. How about we go back upstairs and -"
"No Chase," I cut him off and walked over too Ethan. "What are you hiding from me?" I asked in a stern tone.
He shook his head, "Nothing. Sis, I love you but you're a bit paranoid. I saw the look on your face when we came in. You didn't even know who we were for a brief second," he spoke in a soft tone.
I glared harder at him, "I just needed to refresh my memory for a second."
Ethan then folded his arms across his chest, "Oh really? Then who's house is this?" he asked.
Looking around the room, I saw the guys staring at me a bit curious. "Leo's house?" I mumbled.
"No, it's Victor's house. You need to go back upstairs and rest. You're running on this new energy and -"
"Speaking of running, I could go for a nice run. I'll catch you guys around dinner time or something," I chirped as I ran out the kitchen, through the house and out the door. I felt a burst of energy in me to which I ran as fast as I could.
As I came closer to the town center, I slowed down and just walked around passed some shops and my old school. I received stares from many people but I couldn't blame them. I was in a white shirt and some shorts. They weren't my clothes but a guy's clothes. Probably Leo's clothes. Not to mention, I was also barefoot.
I came to a stop in the driveway and looked at the house I once used to live in. Walking up to the door, I used my powers to unlock it before walking in and locking it behind me.
"Hello?" a masculine voice called out from around the corner. I walked around the corner and saw my father getting up from the chair.
"Hey kiddo! I didn't know you were in town!" he cheered. I quickly hugged him and I could feel his emotions. He was very happy but I could feel how fragile he was since he was old. "Yeah I didn't know I was here either. How have you been?" I asked as I pulled away from him.
"Good. What brings you to town and the white hair and eyebrows?" he asked as he sat in his chair. "Just some trouble but I'll be out of here by tonight hopefully. If anyone ask, you haven't seen me. As for the white hair, it's a long story. Also where's mom?" I asked as I walked out the room.
"She'll be staying by Cain's Aunt house for the next couple of days and what type of trouble?" he asked.
"Don't worry about it dad. I'm going to shower. Love you!" I shouted as I walked upstairs. "Love you too Sweetheart," he shouted back.
I walked into my room and into the bathroom. I spent the next hour showering in cold water and trying to think. Ethan was definitely hiding something from me. Who was he sending the message to anyways? It seemed like Leo and the guys also know something since they were trying to cover up for Ethan as well. Also, who was this Victor guy? We were in his house and I didn't even see him there. Why couldn't I remember who he was? Maybe if I saw his face I would know. How hard did I get hit with lightning that I forgot everyone for a brief second.
Hopping out the shower, I got dress and headed back downstairs. My dad trailed into the kitchen and I realized he was using a walking stick. He sat by the counter and gave me a smile to which I returned.
"Your brother and a bunch of guys stopped by when you were upstairs. They said something about you being different and need to stay inside for a bit," he explained.
I rolled my eyes, "I'm honestly fine. What did you tell them?" I asked as I walked to the kitchen cabinets and took out some pasta.
"Just that you'll be staying here with me for a few and that it's best they don't bother you. They'll be staying by Victor's house. Now that I've covered for you, you want to tell me what happened? Or do I need to ask Ethan," his eyebrow rose.
There's that name again.
I let out a sigh and placed a pot of boiling water over the stove. "Well, someone's trying to kill me. Someone who has ability to control air. Then on Thursday night, someone starts a storm that was going to hit New York and New Jersey. It was a battle but I stopped it and this happened. My eyes also glow either blue or golden brown and I don't know why. I also feel this burst of energy in me like I'm actually one with Earth but it feels different," I explained to him.
"Is there anything new that has happened to you when it comes to power like what you couldn't do before?"
I nodded my head, "Yes. I hugged you and I could feel your emotions. Also when Ethan uses his power mentally, normally I wouldn't be able to see it unless he wants me to but now I see it no matter what," I replied as I took out some chicken from the freezer and some vegetables.
"Just be careful Sweetie. In my opinion, you must have connected to Earth in a different way than you should have. You might be more powerful than before but always remember, the more power you have, the more danger it can be. It'll be like playing fire with fire or ice with ice," he spoke in a soft tone.
I gave him a small smile, "I will. Thanks dad."
"No problem," he yawned, "I'm going to take a nap. Wake me up when dinner is done," he spoke as he got up and walked back into the living room.
I spent the next couple of hours cooking the pasta and chicken. I then made a salad and the Alfredo sauce. I took down the sauce and turned to take off the stove but my eyes flickered to the fire. Curiosity took over me and I slowly shoved my hand towards the stove. As I got closer, I could feel the heat. I placed my hand an inch over the fire further in and watched as nothing happened. I wasn't burning of even feeling the pain or the overbearing heat.
Pulling my hand away, I turned the stove off and walked into the living room to see my father passed out on the chair. Walking over to him, I touched his shoulder and I could feel this sharp pain in his left leg.
"Freya?" my father's voice echoed through my head. I looked to see he was awake. "Your eyes are gold," he mumbled in a shock tone.
I pulled my hand away and blinked, "Sorry, I came to tell you dinner was ready." He thanked me and I helped him into the kitchen and served him his dinner to which he took some medicine as well. We talked for a bit before he went to clean up then went to bed.
As I cleaned up the kitchen, I couldn't help useless for my father. Deciding to help out a bit, I started to cook some more. I cooked lunch and dinner for the whole week for him and placed them in containers that was reheat-able. I labeled them and placed them in the fridge. I even baked a cake for him as well. I would make breakfast but he just likes to heat up a bagel and eat it with jam with his coffee. Cleaning up, I felt as if I could take his pain away. After I finished cleaned the kitchen, I headed upstairs and quietly stepped into his room.
Walking over to him, I hovered my hand over his sick leg and focused. Channeling my powers, I felt my hand heating up. I looked to see my hand was glowing a bright soft yellow. I then laid it on his leg being sure not to wake him up. I could feel his pain in his leg fading away. Once it was completely gone, I removed my hand and headed to my room.
Dropping on my bed, I felt myself falling asleep.
Images of a guy flashed through my mind. We were holding hands and kissing. Another one was him giving me a bracelet. I watched from a distance as I was so happy around him. His face looked familiar. I then shifted to where he collapsed to the ground as he was shot in the heart.
"Victor," I found myself mumbling. I then shifted into the burial memory. I never even got to see his face before he was buried. My memory then shifted to the time I saw him in the parking lot when I was driving Ethan and I out to eat. I was then flashed back to the cemetery to Victor's grave before I was then passed through the soil 8 feet under to his coffin then into it.
My eyes opened and I got out off bed. I walked into my closet and changed into some jeans and a shirt. Staying barefoot, I jumped out of my window and landed on my feet. Getting into running mode, I went with a full blast. The cemetery was about an hour away from my house but I managed to reach there within 15 minutes. Walking through the cemetery in the moonlight, I found Victor's stone.
Was this a stupid idea? Maybe but I needed to see if he really was in there.
Using my powers, I removed the soil from his grave and dug 8 feet under until I reached his coffin. Jumping down on it, I let out a heavy breath before opening the coffin.
