Chapter 17: Immobilized
Walking out of the house, I stood on the front lawn. As the seconds rolled by, I felt Liam's energy coming closer. In the distance, I watched as he stood in the middle of the road. He was about 50 feet away. He looked different from last night. His hair was fully white, and his eyes were glowing lavender. He wore a white shirt and caramel shorts and remained barefoot.
"I've got to admit, I'm surprised you even survived that," he said in the distance. My hearing heightened, so I could hear him. I shrugged, "You tend to underestimate me," I replied as I walked up to him.
He nodded as he shoved his hands in his pocket, "I have. Let's go for some lunch. I'm starving," he spontaneously suggested.
I eyed him as his whole behavior was subtle.
"Not killing me yet, I see," I analyzed. He let out a laugh of amusement. "There's a time for everything, and unfortunately, this is not the time nor moment," he informed me. He then stepped aside as a gesture to the portal he had now opened.
Looking through, I saw it was a restaurant. I walked in, followed by Liam behind me. I looked around and saw we were in Red Lobster. A lady ushered us to our booth and I sat across from Liam. As I sat in my seat, I could feel the energy of the place. It felt a mix of Earth's energy and unnatural energy. As I looked around, I saw people were eat and talking amongst themselves as if this was normal. No one acknowledged us, which was weird, considering I looked like I was thrown off a cliff and then ran over by a lawnmower. As I focused on one person at a time, I felt their power. They all were born with powers.
"Where are we?" I asked, turning my attention to Liam.
"A safe place for people like us to use our powers in harmony. Away from humans," he explained as he, too, was now looking around. I continued to look around and then back at Liam, who was just now looking outside. Our food came around to my surprise, considering we hadn't even ordered yet. We ate our food, and then Liam put us into a portal, which put us on a stone path. On our right and left were beautiful cherry blossom trees.
"Liam, I understand you want power but destroying Earth and killing innocent people isn't the way to go," I broke the silence as we started to walk down the path.
He shook his head, "It isn't that simple and I'm not just doing it for power. People like us should be able to use our powers in public without having to be afraid. Even if we could, the government would want to run tests on us. I'm going to break the whole system down and rebuilt it in a better way. The humans who want to live in harmony with us can join, those who are against us, well you get the idea," he explained glimpsing over to me.
I grabbed his hand causing him to stop walking. He turned to look at me.
"Look, I know you hate me for standing against you and killing your brother, but we could find another way to resolve the issue. We could find another way to use our powers freely," I pleaded.
He nodded, "Okay. I'll stop all this, but you have to promise me that you know for 100 percent that everyone on this planet will be for the idea," he offered.
I opened my mouth but said nothing. I couldn't promise.
"Even you yourself know that wouldn't happen. Humans are complex and I don't care about Kai. He was a horrible brother. He always found a way to make things worst," Liam mumbled as he continued walking. My eyebrow rose before I walked up next to him. "Really? Your own flesh and blood you didn't like?" I asked.
"He's the one who killed your parents. By the time I got to them, I couldn't do anything. I'm sorry. The same goes for your brother. I had no saying in that," he aplogized. I stopped in my tracks causing him to stop in front me.
"Your lying," I mumbled.
He slowly took a step forward towards me and placed his warm palm on my left cheek. Closing my eyes, I watched as I was in 3rd person. Liam was shouting for Kai to stop as he ran up the stairs with lightning speed in my house. Once Liam got upstairs, Kai had already torture my parents. He threw Kai of my mother who was in the tub before punching him and yelling at him.
I opened my eyes and saw sympathy flickered across Liam's eyes. His thumb slide across my cheek and I hadn't realized I was crying. I held Liam's hand agianst my cheek to which he leaned his forehead against mine.
"I don't want to kill you. I truly do have feelings for you," he whispered. I could feel our energy connecting. It felt different from when Victor would touch me. This was more powerful and stronger.
"Don't do this then," I whispered back.
He let out a soft chuckle, "I have to. If I don't do this, I have nothing going for me. I've come this far. I can't turn back."
"Liam, please. I don't want to kill someone else," I begged.
He then cupped my face, "I can't change your mind or tell you what to do. I know where you stand and you know where I stand. So, when the time comes, which is soon, we'll have to do what we believe is right," he softly exhaled, "Until then," he paused before crashing his lips against mine. He kissed me so soft yet passionatly, "See you next time," he whispered as he pulled away. He wiped my tears away one last time before releasing me. I could sense the pain he was in. He was hurting just as how I was hurting. Something happened to him to make him become like this.
"Liam, don't-" before I could reach for his hand, he gave me a soft smile before making a gesture with his hand. I was then shot through a portal. Liam's face disappeared in the portal and I looked ahead to see I was staring at a kitchen.
"What happened?" a voice came behind me. I turned around to see the guys were here along with Ethan, Victor, and some girl standing next to him. She had red hair, brown eyes and a light tan. She wore a short skirt and a crop top. She looked to be around the same age as me.
"Freya!" Ethan snapped in front me. I looked to him to see his eyebrow raised. Liam knew where everyone was staying. No matter where I sent them, he could've find them. Turning my back to them, I reopen the portal to where I was with Liam. Poking my head through, I saw he wasn't here. I tried to open a portal to the Red Lobster but nothing happened. He must have had a protection covering over it.
"Liam," I breathe out in a soft tone as I was trying to find him. Quickly searching through Earth, I frowned as I couldn't feel his energy.
Quickly walking through the house, I walked into the backyard and looked around at the night sky. Focusing my energy, I started to pop portals open to where Liam might be but there was no sign of him. Closing all the portals I couldn't help but feel hopeless.
"LIAM!" I screamed from the top of my lungs as tears were now streaming down my face as I fell to my knees.
"A bit dramtic," I could hear the girl whispering to which everyone hushed her behind me. "Freya, what happened? What's wrong?" Ethan asked as he crouched down next to me and held my shoulder.
"Everything," I mumbled as I stood back up to my feet. I walked further into the backyard.
"Liam!" I screamed again. I knew some part of him could hear me.
"Liam please," I cried out as I spun around trying to trace any sort of energy from him.
My sense tingled and I looked at the guys who were 20 feet away from me staring in shook, confusion, and alarmed as they looked behind me. I turned around to see Liam standing in front a portal. I quickly ran up to him and hugged him to which he hugged me back.
"I knew taking you out for lunch was a mistake since it would bring us here," he muffled into my hair. "Yet you still did it," I sobbed. He pulled away and wiped my face of any tears. "I don't like when you cry," he spoke in a soft tone.
"And I don't like you taking over the world but here we are," I joked causing him to shake his head and chuckled.
"What the fuck is going on here?!" a voice shouted behind me. I looked to see Victor and everyone else behind him just 5 feet away.
Ignoring him, I turned back to Liam who was glaring at Victor. I then gestured his chin so he was looking down at me. "Let's make a deal. Give me a week to change your mind," I suggested.
Liam shook his head, "I'm sorry but I'm not going to change my mind."
"Liam please," I begged, "It wouldn't hurt to try."
"No, it wouldn't. But the longer I'm with you, the more I connect with you," he informed me. "How do you think I feel?!" I sheirked.
He stayed quiet before raising his eyebrow, "You have 24 hours to change my mind," he offered.
I let out a sign, "Deal. No killing during that time. You also let Nature run it's course regular," I added.
He nodded, "Fair enough but I also have my conditions too. It's just us. I'm not going to talk to anyone else. No contact with them and your boyfriend needs to relax himself before I put him down," he gestured to Victor behind me. I looked to see Victor holding his gun next to his side. I quickly snatched the gun from his hand and held it in front him. He then went to grab the gun to which is disappeared into dust.
"Deal and he's not my boyfriend," I spoke as I went to shake Liam's hand. I then stood midway as I realized I need to know if Ethan was okay with this. I turned to look at him to see he was already looking at me.
He then gave me a small smile and nodded. I gave him a thankful look before we both shook on it.
He pulled out his phone and made a call before walking away.
I turned around to see everyone looking at me in pure shock.
"What the fuck were you thinking?" Victor shouted in anger as he looked at me then at Liam in the distance. From the corner of my eyes, I looked to see Liam was pacing around, talking on the phone.
I shrugged, "He deserves a chance," I smiled as I looked at Victor. I looked at Ethan who was looking at Liam. He was listening on Liam's call.
"So what's for dinner?" I asked.
Slowly holding up my hand, I started to sign to Ethan. "I'm going to get into his mind and slow time down. You need to find out how many people he has on his side and where this is taking place," I signed.
Ethan smirked, "I knew you were smarter than to trust him. He actually believes in your deal and is calling his guys off. His mind is going to be hard to get into so if you're going to do it, you need to do it quick," Ethan signed back.
"What are you-" before the girl could finish, I shut her up and looked towards Leo who seem to noticed that I had a plan.
He then looked at the rest of the guys who caught on as well. "We should go out for Chinese," Chase offered. "Food in general sounds great right now. I'm honestly starving," Richard jumped in.
I heard the grass crunch next to me and I turned to see it was Liam. "Everything good?" I asked.
He nodded his head and I gave him a smile. "So, how are you planning to change my mind?" his eyebrow raised.
"By a hug," I grinned as I opened my arms. He rolled his eyes and hugged me. Releasing a sigh, I could feel our energy connecting.
Quickly pulled away, I held both sides of his face and stared into his eyes. Using my powers, I tried to force his mind to go to sleep but he quickly held my hand with force and tried to pry me off him. Using all my strength, I forced myself into his mind but couldn't get through as he was resisting. Hugging him again, I felt our energy getting stronger.
Closing my eyes, I hugged him tightly as he tried to resist me more and more. "You're going to have to try harder than that," Liam laughed.
"I know," I replied before pushing him down to the ground. Using my powers, I had vines hold him down to the ground along with gravity. Sitting on top him, I placed my fingers on his templates before looking up to the sky. The clouds in the sky turned into a shade of dark gray before the clouds started to swirl rapidly above us. Lightning started to flash and I looked over to Victor.
"Run!" I ordered him and the guys. They all started to run back to the house and I looked back towards Liam who continued to fight me. I wrapped the vines around him tighter.
"You'll die trying to take me down," He growled as he broken through the vines and kicked me off him. I quickly launched back onto him and tackled him to the ground. He grabbed my side and used his strength to squeeze hard causing my ribs to crack. I let out a piercing scream.
Vines erupted from the ground below us and I used it to tie him down again. Sitting on top on him I placed my hand around his temples and struck myself lightning before sending the bolts through him. I watched as he tried to fight it with his eyes flashing with lightning through them.
I created a forcefeild of lightning around us causing lightning to shock the area around us from within me. The energy circulated around us and started to quickly charge up. Using a higher bolt, I sent the charge through him causing his heart to speed up before flatlining. He was in a temporality sleep for a couple of minutes. I let out a heavy sigh of pain as I rolled off him and laid on the ground 6ft away from him.
I felt so tired and weak. I felt like I could sleep for years.
"Well that's one way to go," Ethan's voice came besides me. I turned my head to see him standing next to me. Behind him I saw the rest of the guys making their way down.
"Is he dead?" Kyle asked as he looked over to Liam. I shook my head as I slowly sat up in pain, "No, just in a deep sleep for a couple minutes then I'll have to knock him out again," I explain of a exhuasted tone.
"That's insane! How are you going to manage that?" Richard shrieked, "There has to be another way."
I looked at Ethan who was examining Liam. "What if you put him into some incubation but with lightning circulating it like what you did. Wire the energy to bolt him as soon as he tries to regain his consciousness," Ethan suggested. I thought about it for a second. It could work.
Looking towards Liam, I created an 8x8-foot force field around him that looked like a glass room. I then released him from the vines and levitated his body before surging the force field with lightning.
"That's honestly cool as fuck," Leo mumbled causing everyone to hum in agreement. "Thanks. Now we wait to see if it works," I mumbled back.
I wired Liam's vitals to the force field, which displayed them on the outside. Silence filled the air as we watched and waited anxiously to see if I had pulled off the impossible. I could hear everyone's heart pounding in their chest as they all held their breath in anticipation. My eyes were glued to the vital screen, and for what felt like an eternity, Liam's heartbeat started to read on screen. He was immobilized for the time being. Everyone exhaled in unison in relief.
I turned on my heels and headed towards the house as everyone trailed behind me. "Now what?" Victor asked as he made his way beside me on the left.
I didn't know the plan or how we were going to handle this situation, but I knew Liam had to be stopped, and we didn't have much time.
"We're going to figure out how to permanently kill this bitch and put him in the ground for good," I murmured as Ethan appeared on my right with a smirk. "This should be fun."
