Chapter 16: The Creature

With its roar, the ground vibrated. Sounds of trees falling in the distance caused us to look towards the fields in the distance where it was connected to the woods. As we looked down the hill, we saw about 8 trees fall as these things made their way towards us.

"I'm really praying that's an obese bear that's coming this way," I mumbled out to everyone.

"I think we should run for the car," Leo suggested. I nodded my head as my eyes were glued to the woods, "That's a great idea."

With one last second, we all turn and ran for the car. As we got in, Leo turned pushed the button to start the ignition but nothing happened.

"WE'RE NOT EVEN OUT OF GAS!" Leo shouted as he was starting to panic. I tried to use my powers to jumpstart the car but nothing happened.

"Whatever creature that is, it's sucking the power out of everything. You're not going to be able to use your powers," Ethan filled in.

I let out a groan before getting out of the car and grabbing Ethan before running into the house with the guys behind me. In the distance, I could hear another roar and stomping in the distance. It was getting closer and things from around the house were falling onto the floor.

"How does that make sense? I mean, I have the whole universe power and I'm not allowed to use it against this thing and how is it possible that whatever it is exist?" I asked.

"Well, judging by the spark that happened in the weapon, Liam must have taken precaution and set a trap knowing you'll somehow run into it. Once it snapped, that creature spawned in. You're not able to use your powers because Liam most likely modified the creature. You and Kai share the same power but he has an advantage by getting his hands on it first. Also, I doubt guns will help since it's a magical creature," Ethan explained before staring at Victor and his guys who had guns.

Silence echoed through the place and we all looked around. Part of me was hoping it left but I knew that wasn't true. A few seconds passed before a bunch of stomping was heard in the distance. This thing was charging towards the house.

"SCATTER!" Oscar shouted.

Everyone ran in a different direction excepting Ethan since I was holding his hand. The creature crashes into the house causing the place to shake and things to shatter. Ethan and I dove behind the couch and stayed silent. We could hear the heavy breathing of the creature from the middle of the room. The lights went out and the temperature of the house dropped to a low 40 in Fahrenheit. Something in front of me started to crackle and I looked up to see a thick sheet of ice covering the window. Within seconds, the place was now dimly light.

Footsteps made their way around the room and I peeked around the couch to see behind the creature. It looked huge like 4 times the size of a buffalo. His tail looked so firm like stone. At the end of it was like a spike ball. Fur covered its body and on its head were huge antlers about 3 sizes bigger than a Stag's antler. Its head whips around towards me and I quickly ducked back behind the couch.

He had 3 eyes, one on the right, on the left, and in the middle. They were placed like a v. The eyes were also blue and glowing. Footsteps made their way towards Ethan and me. Looking to Ethan, I gestured for him to be quiet but to crawl around the couch.

He got onto his knees and I did so as well. We crawled around the couch and stopped. I peeked around the corner to see the creature slowly peeking his head around the corner. Ethan tugged my shirt and I turned to see he has couched in front a small secret door that was in the wall. The sliding door was 3 feet tall. He opened the door and we looked to see it was an entrance to some stairs which led underground. It looked like a panic room.

You would think they would mention that the house had a panic room considering the situation.

The creature roared and I pulled Ethan back down as it stomped away into another room. "Go and don't come out until it's safe. I'll try to get the others," I informed him. He nodded his head and I kissed his head before he opened the door and crawled in before sliding it back.

Looking around the corner, I saw the creature was in the dining room walking around. A loud roar echoed through the house and I looked to see it was walking towards the front entrance. As it got closer, I crawled behind the couch then around the side.

Looking into the kitchen, I saw Alex, Oscar, Chase, and Kyle hiding on the side of the counter. They both glimpsed over to me and I motioned them to the panic room. Alex mumbled something to the rest of them to which they nodded. Peeking around the corner, I saw the creature was nowhere in sight.

I held up one finger indicating one at a time to which they nodded. I then gestured for them to take their shoes off since it would make more sound rather than them in their socks. Alex placed his hands on the floor getting ready to run. Peeking around the corner, I gestured for him to run since they couldn't see the creature. Alex swiftly ran across the house towards me and quickly dove behind the couch before slipping into the panic room. Oscar went next, followed by Chase.

I gestured for Kyle to run but quickly stopped him once the creature turned the corner. It breathes heavily before making its way into the living room. The creature walked towards the couch on the other side and I peeked around the front to see he was heading for the back of the couch. Looking around near me, I grabbed the remote for the television of the floor and threw it towards the front of the house. The creature did a quick 180 before running towards the front of the house and roaring.

I quickly gestured Kyle to run for it to which he did. He quickly ducked behind the couch next to me. "Where's the rest of them?" I asked.

"I saw them run for upstairs," he informed me. I nodded before he went into the panic room.

Slowly creeping around the room, I headed for the stairs. As I made my way up the stairs, midway it creaked and I let out a curse. Not too long after, a loud roar echoed through the house and I saw the creature running towards me. I ran up the stairs and into a room before slamming it shut. The creature ran into it but the door shook instead of broke down. He then started to slowly stomp away. He was going to charge in.

"What are you doing?" a hand grabbed me from behind. I looked to see it was Richard and Leo.

"Well, I came to save you guys. Everyone is in the panic room expecting Victor now. That thing is about to charge in here. I'll distract and you make a run for it. I assume you'll know where the room is since it's your house?" I questioned.

They both nodded. I grabbed them and placed them a distance away from the door to the left. "When you get downstairs before the last one enters the panic room, throw something so he's off my tail," I spoke as I walked to the window.

Opening it, I looked down to see it was a far drop. You'll survive the fall but you'll probably shatter your bones or break your legs. Looking to the side, I saw there was a ledge that led around the house. The door crashed open and I looked to see the creature was focused on me. He ran towards me and I quickly went out the window and onto the ledge. Peeking through the window, I looked to see the creature making its way towards me with a roar.

Leo and Richard both ran out of the room and down the stairs only for it to creak. The creature stopped in its steps and turned around getting ready to charge at them. Leo and Richard looked behind them unsure of what to do. They knew if they ran for the panic room, it would expose everyone else.

Without thinking, I jumped back into the room and threw the nearest thing at the creature. It then looked at me but didn't move. It kept eyeing between me and Leo and Richard. The creature went running towards then and without hesitation, I jumped on its back causing it to roar and jump around as if it was a bull.

"RUN!" I shouted at Richard and Leo as I had the creature's attention.

They disappeared down the stairs and I grabbed the creature's antlers to stop myself from fall off. It let out a roar as it stood still. The roar got louder causing the whole house to shake. The roar got louder and I felt my eardrums were on the verge of bursting. Letting out a small scream, I released his antlers and covered my ears with my hand. He then mounted up straight causing me to fall off. As I fell to the ground, he turned around and bit into my side causing me to scream. With my finger, I stabbed his eyes causing me to throw him out his mouth. I skid across the floor and quickly stood up before running towards the window and jumping on the ledge.

The creature charged at the window causing the glass to shatter everywhere. A loud sound came from downstairs to which the creature ran off. Letting out a sigh, I tie toed my way across the side of the house towards another window. Looking in, I saw Victor was facing the door holding a gun.

I lightly tapped on the window causing him to turn around. He quickly ran over and opened the window before helping me in.

"You're hurt," he muffled out as he looked down to his hand which had my blood. "I'll be fine. I got everyone into the panic room. You need to go. I'll take care of the creature. I'll distract him and you can make a run for it and -"

"No," Victor cut me off in a stern tone. My eyebrow rose as his tone. "This whole entire time I've been doing what you said and letting it slide. I'm going to kill that thing myself," he hissed out pointing to the door.

I shook my head, "You can't. That thing will tear you apart. He's not stupid either," I informed him, "So you're going to-"

"No," Victor cut me off again. I let out a growl of anger and frustration, "Look, I know you want to do something yourself but news flash, this isn't your fight, this is mine. Liam is after me, not you, and the last time you wanted to do something, you got Ethan killed. So, if you really want to fucking do something, I suggest you march your ass downstairs into the panic room before you get someone else killed again," I hissed.

I watched as some sort of emotion flickered across his face before he slowly nodded.

I grabbed his shirt and placed him next to the door as to how I did Richard and Leo. "The stairs creak so I suggest you parkour that and get downstairs," I spoke as I opened the door. I walked over to the window and stood with my back towards it as I stayed facing the door.

Letting out a sigh, I let out a loud whistle which caused the creature to stomp through the house with speed and up the stairs. It burst through the door and charged straight towards me. Timing it right, I jumped out of the way before the creature could touch me. As he went charging through the window, I grabbed onto his antlers with one hand and hopped on him as we were now both falling out the window.

With a loud thump as the creature hit the floor, he managed to land on his 4 feet to my surprise. It soon started to prance around like an actual bull as it ran around the house. With a swift turn, the creature charged through the house and abruptly stopped once he was at the back of the house. My grip loosened causing me to be thrown off in front of him. I looked up in front of me to see a creature filled with pure rage and anger. His front left leg scratched the ground as he was getting ready to charge. Standing up to my feet, I quickly pulled myself together and ran as fast as I could to the backyard. As I ran, I saw the broken staff on the ground.

A roar was released from the creature before he came charging at me. Grabbing the weapon off the ground, I quickly looked at the creature and timed his speed along with my strength. As he got closer, I aimed the broken side of the staff towards the creature's head. As he stood 4 feet away from me, I threw the staff causing it to pierce through his head.

The creature let out a painful roar and started to stumble on his feet before falling down on his side in front of me. I watched as his neck stretched out as he was now trying to bite me. Taking the other broken staff, I grabbed it and walked back over to the creature before looking down at it. It was still trying to stand up. Using the broken staff, I stabbed it multiple times until it stopped moving. With its last breath, the creature disappeared into thin air.

The wind blew hard and the tree rustles against one another. I felt myself healing from the creature's bite as I was now regaining my strength. Walking into the house, I could feel a stronger energy approaching. Running over to the panic room, I knocked on the door only for it to slid open.

"What happened?" Ethan asked as he was the first one to come out.

"I killed it. You guys have to go. Liam is coming. Please don't argue with my decision," I pleaded. They all nodded in agreement.

"I'll open a portal to another one of your safehouses. Just pinpoint me where it is," I asked Chase.

"Marina Bay Sands, Singapore?" he questioned.

I went to open a portal but Ethan's hand stopped me. "That's not a good idea. It will just shift things around," he informed me.

"I know but right now, I don't have an option and despite Liam having so much power and is able to track down anyone and anything let alone come up with some modified creature, I'll take that risk," I replied before opening a portal.

Everyone entered the portal and Ethan gave me a hug before entering it. As everyone went through, I closed it and looked around the house to see it was almost completely demolished. The roof was still in place but the walls around the house were busted open.
