Chapter 14: The Plan
Within a second, I braced myself for impact as I smashed into the ground. I let out a painful groan as the pain struck through my body. Tires screech from my left and I slowly turned my head to see a car had stopped 4 feet away from me. I was in the middle of a street. Closing my eyes as I tried to catch my breath, I heard a bunch of doors opening followed by footsteps.
"FREYA!" I heard a voice scream. I opened my eyes to see the guys all standing around me. "Call an ambulance," one of them ordered. I slowly blinked as I was trying to focus my eyes. "Don't," I gasp out in pain.
A hand reaches for me but I stopped them. "Don't touch me please," I begged in a broken voice.
Slowly catching my breath, I sat up and looked below me to see the road under me was broken from my impact. Looking next to me, I saw a bright light. It was a table that displayed the camera feed from the vault. They knew what happened. Grabbing the tablet, I used my powers to dial Liam.
"Miss me kicking your ass already?" he answered the phone with a laugh. Weird how he knew I was calling.
"Where's Kai?" I groan out through the pain. "I'm here you cunt!" he shouted from the background.
Looking up to the sky, I watched as I lightning bolt came out of me and shot into the sky before disappearing with speed. Across the line, a loud explosion was heard. Kai had just exploded into pieces.
"WHAT THE FU-" before Liam could finish his sentence, I end the call and broke the tablet along with everyone else phone in their pocket.
"What just happened?" Victor asked as he pulled out his phone looking to see it was broken along with the rest of them. "The ball of lightning I forced Kai to swallow was like a bomb. He just exploded and as for your phone, it's easier for Liam to track you rather than your energy."
"Should we start heading out? I mean you kind of just killed his brother in return and there is a possibility he can still find us, right?" Chase asked a bit confused.
I nodded my head, "Yes, but it would take him a while. His powers are artificial rather than natural. Do you have another house nearby?"
"About 40 miles from here," Richard informed me. "Okay. Well, let's go," I mumbled as I stood up. I let out a hiss of pain as I felt my ribs were broken and out of place. Almost falling back down, a hand grabbed me and held me up. I looked to see it was Victor. He took my left hand and placed it around his neck as he took his right arm and wrapped it around my waist to help me stand.
"You need to go to a doctor," he insisted, "I saw what he did to your ribs. You need to get it fixed."
Using my right hand, I placed my hand over my ribs and forced my powers to snap them back into place within a brief second. Releasing a heavy breath, I felt the pain of relief. "Fix it," I huffed out. We made it back into the car and I looked to see Ethan was laying in the very back seat. I took the back with Ethan along with Victor and Alex. Richard, Oscar, and Kyle sat in front of us. Leo drove and Chase took the passenger seat.
We drove the entire time in silence. No one spoke a word. We stopped for food and even then, no one talk excepting to order. We finally arrived at the house and I put Ethan in a room before showering and heading back outside to the backyard. I sat in the field and looked around. The sun was at its highest point in the sky at 7 in the morning. Everything looked normal but it wasn't. Earth was unbalanced but despite that, the view of peace and quietness was breathtaking.
"Beautiful isn't it?" a soft voice came next to me. My eyes widened as I knew whose voice that belonged to. A smile rose to my face as I saw Ethan sitting down next to me. I went to hug him but my hands passed right through him.
"I'm in spiritual form. When you kiss me on the head, your bond with me broke me out of my body and before you ask, I'll be here until you're able to get me back to normal and only you can see me," he informed me.
I let out a sigh before frowning, "I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have left you. I -"
"Freya, please. This was coming eventually. There was no stopping it and it's in the past so let us focus on the future while we have time," he pleaded. I nodded my head in agreement before looking out to the field.
"Ethan, for the first time, I don't know what to do. I can't track the weapon and Liam can't be killed. Can't say the same for Kai as he's now dead," I mumbled.
"Damn, I missed that? What happened after I died? I kind of just came here a few seconds ago so update me on everything," he spoke laying down in the grass. I laid next to him as we looked at the clouds.
"Well, I hunt Kai down by tracing his energy. While I kept him in the vault, I made him swallow a lightning ball which exploded him later. Liam came to get Kai and we had had an argument. I shot Liam in the heart only for him to pull out the bullet like nothing. We fought for a bit before he shot me into a portal causing me to fall and crash into the ground where the guys were driving away. We drove here and you're all caught up now," I explained.
Ethan hummed in response, "Liam formed a portal? His power is air but forming portals isn't part of his powers. Must be the weapon."
I nodded, "Yes because he's much stronger than me in every way. What concerns me is the portal. How could he form a portal? A lot of things are impossible but out of everything, portals are somehow not impossible. That reminds me, I also saw the weapon go through some portal when Kai took your last source of energy."
"When you were falling through the portal, what did it look like?" Ethan asked sitting up.
I sat up and shrugged, "I don't know. Normal?" I replied unsure how to describe a portal.
"Close your eyes and replay the moment. Narrator what you see. Start from when Liam was seconds away from tossing you through," he ordered.
Doing as he said, I closed my eyes.
"Liam flew us up out of the house. Cracked my ribs and twisted my hand before throwing me back with force," I spoke as I replayed the moment in my head.
"Okay slow it down. Look around. Bring yourself to the moment. What do you see? What looks abnormal as you're kicked into the portal," he asked.
Looking around, I saw myself going through a portal halfway through. The outline of the portal looked blurry. It looked somewhat like plastic which was ripped but a little bright like it was giving off light.
"I see the portal outline. It looks like a ripped plastic but it illuminated soft light on the outline. A bit blurry but noticeable if you focused the eye. It also looks to be a bit thick. About 10 inches thick before I reach the other side. Between it, it looks like a galaxy. I'm now falling through. Looking up at it, the hole looks like it's moving like some sort of waves."
"Like beach waves?" Ethan questioned.
I shook my head, "No, it's smoother yet a bit fast. It's like circles of waves."
"Like radio waves?" he questioned.
"Yes! Exactly like that," I spoke opening my eyes.
Ethan's eyes widened, "That's not good. Liam was able to create a break-in through our reality to form a portal to anywhere he pleases. He has disrupted not only the balance of time and a break in reality but he has access to other dimensions beyond the naked eye. This means the weapon is not here," Ethan fits the pieces together.
My eyes then widened, "It's in another dimension within space and reality itself," I filled in.
Ethan nodded, "The fabric of time has been broken."
"Fuck my life," I sighed knowing things just got a hell lot more complicated.
I stood up and marched back into the house with Ethan following behind me. I walked past the guys who were in the living room and head into the kitchen. Scrambling around the room, I found a drawer with papers. Ripping out papers from the book, I threw them on the table and used my powers to shape them into clouds and miniature stick figures along with the weapon. I made the sun in the sky and a moon. On the other half of the table, I quickly formed the solar system with my powers using a hologram.
"That's cool," I heard one of the guys spoke. They were all in the kitchen with me. Ignoring them, I looked to Ethan who was looking at the whole sketch.
"Where do we start?" I asked out loud to Ethan. The guys shrugged, "I don't know," Chase replied.
"Not talking to you," I mumbled. They couldn't see Ethan.
"Let's start with Liam," he pointed to the 3d stick figure I made, "Liam didn't have the weapon when he created the portal right?"
"Correct," I informed him.
"But Kai did when he had the weapon," he asked.
I nodded my head.
"Okay. Liam is bonded to the weapon's energy. It's possible Kai knew how to use it but wasn't able to draw from it. Liam gave him the enhanced power. Liam is the one who is power-driven. Using energy from the weapon, he was able to open the portal. Being able to do so, he manifested every ounce of power on Earth and within the solar system," Ethan explained.
My eyebrow rose, "I get that but how is he stronger than me. It's artificial. I thought I tapped into the core of Earth?"
"Yes," Ethan nodded, "You did but not entirely. You need to tap into the Earth much harder which will mean taking energy from the atmosphere, the solar system, the galaxy, and the space between space itself. Liam has tapped into so much power and took it to a dark place. He's willing to use it to get anything he wants. You need to tap into Earth again and beyond Earth. It's going to be painful but that's the only way you can beat him. Once acquiring the maximum power, you need to find and destroy the weapon before fighting Liam which will be easier once he is no longer bonded to the weapon," Ethan broke down the whole plan.
"I think she's lost her mind," Victor mumbled to Alex, "She's been through a lot."
I rolled my eyes and ignored him.
"Right but the weapon is in another dimension. There are infinite dimensions and infinite realities. How do I find the one with the weapon?" I asked.
Ethan thought for a second before a smile rose to his face. "Each dimension has to have a different wavelength. The different waves play at different frequencies in order to stop the dimensions from colliding with one another. You need to think back to the time Kai sent the weapon through and focus on the frequency of the portal. You should sketch it out on paper," he advised me.
I sat in a chair and grabbed a paper. Holding up my hand, a pen flew out of a drawer and into my hand. Closing my eyes, I thought back to when Kai sent the weapon back into the portal. Slowing the vision down, I went up to it and looked at the portal. I could see the waves of the portal. They were much more violent than the one Liam sent me through. I quickly sketched it out and started writing numbers down along with drawing something else. My body was in control.
Opening my eyes, I looked down to see a bunch of numbers and lines written in front of me along with the size and speed of the wavelength. "I don't know what these numbers are," I spoke looking at the paper with random numbers and lines.
Ethan studied them for a bit, "I can see a pattern. They aren't just numbers. They're coordinates," he spoke as he walked out the room. I followed him outside. He looked around before facing his back towards the sun.
"Hold the paper up to the sky," he ordered. I did as took and he gestured for me to lower my hand so it was the same position as to where the sun is supposed to be.
"Map out the stars," he spoke.
Waving my hand across the sky, I created a hologram of the stars in the sky. Ethan stood in front me as he looked at the paper with the coordinates. He then pointed to one of the stars.
"Zoom in," he requested. I zoomed in and he nodded, "Although it looks like a star, it's another galaxy. Within it is the weapon that Liam is powering up. He's feeding off it," Ethan informed me.
The Earth started to rumble. An Earthquake was taking place. The sky turned black and I watched as the sun disappeared and the moon appeared only for it to disappear and the sun to return.
"That would be the fabric of time becoming unstable right?" I questioned. "Correct," Ethan mumbled as we stared at the sky.
"What's that suppose to mean?" a voice came in front of us. I lowed my hand revealing Victor and the guys staring at me in confusion along with concern.
"I suggest you start trying to connect with Earth on a much stronger level," Ethan informed me gesturing for me to sit down. I sat down on the grass and let out a sigh. "So how do I do this?"
"Would you please tell us what's going on?" Victor groaned out as he stepped in front of me. Practically almost where Ethan was standing. "Look," I spoke in a stern tone, "I don't have time to explain everything. You're going to have to let me do my job because the longer I spend talking to you, the more time I'm wasting," I glared at him.
"A bit harsh but you've got a point," Ethan acknowledged. Victor returned the death stare and I could tell how angry he was at my response.
Ethan started to pace around back and forth in front of me. "Okay, let's start by closing your eyes and focusing on your senses," he spoke.
I closed my eyes and focused.
