Moving in

"This is freaking huge. How am I going to find my way?" I thought as I looked desperately at which exit I had to take.

I just arrived in Tokyo and I never once stepped in this city. I was a country girl. I had always lived in a rather big house in the middle of nowhere. My village had only about a hundred people and Tokyo had like a thousand times more if not way more. I stood in the train station, looking at the four different exits, wondering if I had to take the eastern one, western, northern or southern. How would I know? And even if I chose one, I could not seem to reach the end of it! There were shops everyone: food, clothing, food again. This place was way too big for me.

"Why did I decide to go here?" you sighed as you finally saw the end of it. The place so crowded, my head started to spin. I stepped outside and took a deep breath of fresh air. The air did not smell as nicely as in my hometown but it was way better than in the hell of a station.

I looked up and was surprised by skyscrapers everywhere. The city was filled with tall buildings and big advertisements on the side of some skyscrapers. The streets were so busy despite how early it was. The sun had barely just raised. I felt my phone buzzing inside my pocket and struggled to take it with all the luggage I had. I looked at the screen to see my mom's number. I put back my headset on and answered her call while slowly making my way to my destination.

"Hello?"

"[name]! Did you get there safely?"

You hummed as you glanced around, trying to find your way. "Just a sec, I'll use maps to find my way."

"You haven't reached your accommodation yet?"

"Not yet. I only got out of the station. But I should get there in about thirty minutes or so."

"All right. Be safe then! Call me when you arrive! I hope your roommates will be nice people!"

She worried too much sometimes but I can't get mad at her for that. "I'm sure they will be. See you later. Love ya."

"Love you too!"

I listened to Google maps' instructions while walking as fast as I could. I just wanted to get over there as the luggage I had started to get really heavy. Despite how sportive I was, it was undeniably hell on earth to carry that alone. And I only got a small part of all the stuff I brought along. Some were delivered at the place for the same day. Finally, after what felt like hours, I reached Tokyo University.

"God. Why everything is so huge?" I whispered to myself as I looked at the size of the campus. I walked inside and looked for direction towards the students' accommodations.

I walked for what felt like ages. However, I was finally able to reach the part of the campus where all the accommodations and dormitories were. I looked at the different houses and tried to find mine but there were quite a lot of places to go through. I came across a lot of students who were moving in as well and I noticed that I was not the only one lost in this gigantic maze. Eventually, I made it to my house. I gulped nervously and took a deep breath. I stepped in and opened the door. I hoped they were nice gir-

"Oh, you must be our roommate. Nice to meet you, I'm Kuroo Tetsurou."

A-a-a-a boy?! I stood there motionless as I looked at the person in front of me. It was a male student. He was quite tall and I noticed he was rather muscular as he tolled up his sleeves up to his shoulders and let his muscles showed off while he was carrying a bunch of boxes. He had weird-looking black hair and weird-looking hazel eyes. I kept staring at his hair, wondering how it worked.

"Our roommate arrived?!" a loud voice echoed in the house from a room nearby. It was a male voice again. I looked over to the side and saw another tall man with white-grey hair and golden-colored eyes. He was even more muscular than the other guy who introduced himself as Kuroo.

God. They're both super hot and super strong-looking. This isn't good. The more I looked at them, the more they made me think of some animals. An owl and a cat. They really are weird-looking.

The second man stepped forward and went to shake my hand. I hesitantly extended my hand to him and he shook it with intensity. "Nice to meet you! My name is Bokuto Koutarou! What about you?!"

Jeez, he's so loud! I smiled awkwardly and tried to move my hand away from his. "I'm [full name]. Nice to meet you two as well."

The guy named Kuroo eyed the luggage I had behind me. "Do you need help carrying that up? It looks heavy."

I shook my head. "I'm alright, thanks. Have my other stuff arrived as well?" I wondered as I did not see them hanging at the front door.

The same guy nodded as he mentioned the rooms behind him. "We moved them all in the living room as it took quite some space."

"Oh, sorry about that," I apologized as I bowed my head then, I stared back at the other person in front of me who was still holding my hand. He had been staring me with his huge, innocent smile. It kind of started to creep me out. "Mmmh... Bokuto-san? Can you release my hand, please?"

"O-oh! Sorry! I thought you were pretty I couldn't take off my eyes of you!"

I blushed heavily at his comment. I was not expecting that. I looked away awkwardly, not knowing what to answer. I heard Kuroo sighed and slapped the back of Bokuro's head. I glanced back at them, wondering what was happening. "Bokuto. You can't just say something like that out of the blue. She only just arrived, leave her some space," he said harshly as he pushed him aside for me to go through.

"O-oh, sorry! I should have known! Sorry!" He bowed his head low and stayed there for a minute or so.

"I-it's alright!" I said in a hurry, trying to end this awkward moment. "I should better take care of moving my stuff in now! Thank you for welcoming me!" I went past them, careful to not bump into them with the huge burden behind me. Then, I stopped, looking at the staircase in front of me. I turned back to them with another very awkward smile. "Where is my room?"

The guy named Kuroo chuckled and walked towards me. "I'll show you. Let me carry your bag at least. I feel bad having you carry so many things on your own."

I nodded, knowing I would have been rude to refuse another offer. I handed him my backpack and followed him up the stairs. I only saw this place in pictures as I did not have time to go visit it. I knew it was the biggest room and it had a nice small balcony which gave a view of the small garden below. I started to feel very excited about the idea of seeing my new place. I had always lived in my old traditional family house so, it would be a nice change of pace to be in a modern house in the middle of a big city. I was sweating all the way up while carrying this hell of luggage but I tried my best to not appear exhausted in front of my new roommates. The cat-looking guy stopped at the end of the corridor and pointed at the room on the far right.

"So, this is your room," he said as he moved aside for me to go through.

I thanked him and pushed the door open to reveal my new home. I was amazed by the side of the room. I knew it was going to be bigger than my old one, but it was much better than I imagined. On my right, there was a huge wooden cupboard with lots of drawers and next to it was a rather small bookshelf also made of wood. Next to the wall on my left was a desk; the top was made of glass so I could see through it and some drawers were placed on one side of the desk. On the wall, perpendicular to it was the king-size bed. It was just a plain bed with no pillows and duvet whatsoever so I kept notes in my head to buy some later on. Two small nightstands stood next to the bed, one had a lamp on it. Finally, one the last side of the room, there was a dresser with more drawers to fit my stuff and next to it on the left was a big french-window with the balcony. I walked inside to admire more the room and could not stop myself from smiling. Finally, a place I can call my own. No sister to share the room, no siblings being annoying, no rules-

"Daaaaamn! Your room is sick!" a voice exclaimed from the door frame.

I turned around and saw the two boys at the door. Almost a place of my own. "Yeah. I love it!"

"I knew I should have got this room!" Bokuto shouted as he got on his knees in frustration. I watched him, wondering if I could keep up with a guy so energetic.

"Like you would have the money for it," Kuroo snickered with a smirk as he stared at the other one on the ground.

The owl guy suddenly stood up and laughed. "You're right!!"

As I watched their interaction with each other since I arrived here, I realized something between them. "You both know each other, am I wrong?"

Kuroo hummed and turned his gaze to me as he leaned on the door frame. "We went to different schools but we used to be rivals."

"Really? You seem like best friends!"

"Do we?" Kuroo looked rather unpleased by that while Bokuto did not seem to care one bit.

"I guess..?" I answered, embarrassed. I was afraid I said something bad.

"So what course do you attend?"

"Sports."

"So do we! We'll probably attend the same classes!!"

Kuroo grumbled and rolled his eyes. "Well, of course. This part of the campus is only for sports students."

"Is it?" Both Bokuto and I asked at the same time as we looked at the tall person standing before us.

Kuroo sighed again and stared back and forth between us. "Didn't you read the contract? It clearly said only people doing sports could live here."

"But why's that?" I wondered, not understanding why there was such privilege.

"Because the five houses here have their private gym."

"Whaaaat? That's lit!" we both shouted at the same time again. We looked at each other and high-fived before jumping around.

"God. I guess I'll do the reading for the paperwork," he announced with a sigh. He looked quite annoyed as he walked away to go back to his occupation.

"[lastname]-chan! We'll do some shopping later! You should tag along! It's always better to go with people than alone!" Bokuto suggested with a smile as he made his way down the corridor.

I smiled happily and watched him go. "I will! Thank you, Bokuto-san!"

I sighed as I fell on my bed, dead tired from carrying loads of things from boxes or luggage. I was able to fit all my clothes in the drawer and some in the dresser and still had room for more. Half of my manga collection filled in the bookshelf but I had no place for the rest. I had to figure out what to do. I would have to buy a new one probably. I put some pictures of my family on the dresser and hanged some drawings on the wall. These drawings were made by my best friend who went to a different city than me. They were always so talented and I would often buy some of their paintings. I just loved them. Before leaving, I requested a lot of them so I could decorate my new room and I did not regret asking for these. They fit so perfectly here and it reminded me of home. I looked sadly at the ceiling. I was happy to finally be able to live on my own but, at the same time, I knew the first night would be the hardest. Getting used to living with strangers, miles away from the people I know, it would take time.

I sat up and stretched a bit. I took a deep breath and stood up again. After all, I was far from finished.

I went downstairs to see what the boys were up to. They were both talking over the table in the kitchen. The kitchen and living room were both connected and very large. The kitchen had a big fridge and a lot of counters and drawers. It had an oven with a dishwasher and washing machine. The sink was on the side of the room, still connected to the counter. There were two cupboards above the kitchen counter. One square table for four stood in the middle of the room with four chairs. The living room was quite big as well. There were a couch and an armchair, both placed in front of a TV that was hanging on the wall. A bigger bookshelf than the one I had was leaning against the wall next to the couch. I lived to myself, feeling like it was a good place.

"Hey [lastname]-chan! Are you ready to go shopping?" Bokuto asked as he waved at me from the table. I nodded and went to sit next to them. I looked over the phone that was set on the table to see a list of things to buy. "Do you need to put anything on there?"

I thought for a minute. "I might need another bookshelf. My one is too small."

"You could use the one here," Kuroo suggested as he pointed at the one in the living room. "We might as well fill this one."

"You don't mind?" They both shook their head and I smiled at them. "I dunno. You seemed to have written down the essentials. I have some frying pans that my mom gave me. We might not need to buy more."

"That's handy! How many do you have?"

I stood up and carried a box to the table and opened it to see what was inside. "So I got: four frying pans of four different sizes, two saucepans, one cooking pot, and one colander. I've got as well some utensils."

"Wow. Thanks for that, it'll save us some money."

We talked a bit more than made our way to the shopping center. Both of them were from Tokyo which was quite handy for a girl like me who only knew her small village in the mountain. We made our way to the student parking lot and hopped into Bokuto's car. We continued talking while learning new things about each other. I learned they both played volleyball and were continuing in Uni. Bokuto wanted to pursue his career in volleyball and to reach the Olympic's scene while Kuroo was more thinking of becoming a coach. I asked them how they met each other and they started to talk about their high school life.

About one hour later, we reached our destination and got out of the car to head for Ikea. "Wow, I never went to a place like this."

"Really?" they both exclaimed. "Where the hell did you grow up to?" wondered Kuroo as he grabbed a shopping cart at the entrance. "In the mountain?"

"Pretty much..." I admitted, embarrassed a little bit. I felt like I was an outcast between these two city boys.

"Must be nice growing in a place like this! I would love to!" Bokuto seemed so enthusiastic about everything, it was quite incredible and scary at the same time.

Kuroo seemed troubled with his answer and shrugged. "I guess but you're so far away from everything. And it's way harder to move around."

We took two carts and we started to put everything we could from bins to pillowcases to dishes. Surprisingly, I did not have a hard time to get along with these two. Without realizing, I let out a sigh out of relief I did not know I was holding back. I felt a huge weigh leaving my shoulders. Once we were finished here, we quickly put everything in the back of the car. We had to put down two seats in the back so some of the things could fit in. We continued our shopping evening: supermarket, flower shops, and soon enough, we went to have fun in gaming and manga shops. Curiously, we all had a different console that we brought to our new home; Bokuto had an Xbox One, Kuroo a Nintendo Switch while I had a PS4. It was quite handy in fact. We bought some new games and controllers so we could play together. I bought some mangas along the way to continue my collection. It used to be so hard for me to buy some at local stores as they barely sold any but here, in the capital city, I was sure I would have no problem finding anything.

The sun started to set and we decided it was time to go home as everyone started to get hungry.

I feel like I'm going to love this place.
