Chapter Twenty-Two
Ravioli: Ahem.
Sprinkles: Yes?
Ravioli: I was just getting acknowledgement from the audience. I wouldn't want to speak to a pleb like you unless it's necessary.
Sprinkles: *goes to sulk in her emo corner*
Ravioli: *turns back to face the camera* Hey, kitties! (which sounds off-putting in her posh English accent) Welcome back to Natural Beauty! We're still in the tropical grasslands, also known as the beautiful savanna of Africa. And we're aiming today to actually get some information out.
As you all know, our show is mostly fauna based, so here we go!
The screen stays glued to Ravioli's purring face.
Ravioli: Oi! Camera Cat! Show the animals!
Camera Cat: I can't! You forgot to give the basic rundown of what the African savanna actually is!
Ravioli: *stalks forwards towards Camera Cat so that her well-groomed chest fur fills up the whole screen* I know! I just didn't prepare a script for that! I bad at impromptu speeches!
Camera Cat: Get Vivian then! Tell Margaret to unlock her fetters or something.
Ravioli: *rolls eyes* Fine...
The screen fades black for a few heartbeats. Then, the audience receives a rather unexpected jump-scare (good jump-scares are always unexpected, and the author hereby verifies that it is, in fact, a decently scary jumpscare) of Vivian's dishevelled, crazed face looming in front of the camera.
Vivian: *croaks a barely audible word* W-water... *drinks from a DOG bowl that is placed in front of her roughly by Spook (who now helps Margaret edit since Philip has been locked up in the cupboard)* The A-African savanna, huh... *straightens*
Okay. The African savanna is a tropical grassland (here, Ravioli yells loudly "DUH!" just to insinuate how much Vivian is below her) with warm temperatures all year-round. The savanna is characterised by grasses with trees that are dispersed in a spread out in a way that allows sunlight to reach the ground. Often there isn't much rainfall and animals and plants have to really search The African savanna contains a diverse community of organisms that interact to form a complex food web. Some examples of organisms that are present in this ecosystem include wildebeest, elephants, zebras, rhinos, gazelles, cheetahs, lions, leopards, starlings, and weavers. Because of our limited time and resources, we are going to be focus on two of the above for today: the cheetah and the gazelle. A predator and a victim.
*nods professionally at Camera Cat*
The camera swivels to show a cheetah, partly hidden by the prosperous growth of long grass. The screen rotates slightly to the right, revealing a gazelle feeding on a tussock. It then swivels back to show Ravioli back on screen with no sign of Vivian.
Ravioli: Now, because cheetahs have very limited vision compared to the other felines such as tigers, it's the only big cat that hunts during daytime (a few members of the audience faint from the sheer wonder of the newly gained information)
Due to the lack of cover the darkness can give predators, this has prompted the cheetah to adapt in other ways in order for it to sustain its species. This, of course, would be its speed. Cheetahs are notorious for their swift paws and brilliant bursts of speed.
Sprinkles: *briefly pops head into the camera's view* Andthecheetah'sdietmainlyconsistsofzebras, andwildbeestsandgazelle :)
Ravioli: THIS IS MY SHOW, YOU GOOD FOR NOTHING—
The live streaming of the show ceases right about now.
