Chapter Ten

Ravioli is crouched on top of a tree branch, vibrating with excitement as she smiles into the camera.

Ravioli: Okay, so this is the moment... wait for it... wait for it.

The camera pans slightly to the left. Ravioli wildly gestures her tail. The camera swings to the right.

Ravioli: The moment that the corpse flower blooms... a rare event in nature that we've got a chance to capture.

The camera points downwards. Scallop is visible on the forest floor, sitting and eating chips with vigor. He waves at the camera.

Ravioli: *grabs the camera.* What are you doing! We need to capture this rare footage so I can make an amazing documentary! *settles the view on the flower, which is slowly starting to unfold. Very slowly. Not observable by the eye. But I needed to put something in this descriptor, so deal with it.*

Scallop: *from the bottom.* Are we done yet? I want to go back to camp and get a snack!

The camera tilts as Ravioli turns to answer him. When she sees him popping open another bag of chips, she turns back toward the flower and begins to excitedly narrate.

Ravioli: Some corpse flowers only bloom every seven or eight years, while others can bloom multiple times in several years!

Sprinkles: *in a whisper.* Can I add some narration? I have something I'd like to say.

Ravioli: *hisses back.* No! Shut up and wait for the flower to bloom.

Sprinkles: *steps out from behind the camera.* This is called a corpse flower for a reason.... it stinks.

Ravioli: Shhh, the audience doesn't need to know that part. *swats at Sprinkles.*

Sprinkles: *dodges.* Well why else would it be called that? What—because it swallows the corpses of murdered cats?

Ravioli: *shrugs.* Unimportant. Now, let me record my documentary!

Sprinkles: *leaps off the branch and tumbles down toward Scallop.*

Scallop begins to scream as Sprinkles starts jumping on top of him. Ravioli throws a ball of moss at them.

They shut up.

Ravioli: Back to my flower... er, the nature's flower.

~ some time later ~

Ravioli: It's unfolded all the way!

Scallop: *gags and spits out a chip, which lands on Ravioli's head.* How can you stand this smell! *sits up on the branch above her.*

Ravioli: It smells beautiful. *dreamily.* Like zoology...

Scallop: This is a plant! Why are you studying plants in a zoology documentary?

Ravioli: I couldn't resist the chance to record a corpse flower! They're so beautifully rare!

Scallop: That's the fifth time you've said that.

Ravioli: Good. I hope you understand how great this corpse flower is now.

Scallop: I hope you understand how bad it smells.

by a Rio.

Yes, we are now magically in Sumatra, because that's also a rainforest.

All rainforests can be equal in our fictional Warriors world.

don't question my science.
(or lack of therefore)

I just really like corpse flowers.
