Chapter Nine

Ravioli: -and cut! I think that was the best take we've ever done! Sprinkles was locked in a cage, Scallop tripped over a Strangler Tree and knocked himself out for the entire take and Margaret didn't knock anything over! I really think we're progressing guys, what do you think?

Margaret: I thought you were simply wonderful, wish I could've seen it...

Scallop: Wait, is the red button supposed to be on while recording?

Ravioli: I swear...

Sprinkles: You done did did it oh she gon' be made cause you done did it

Margaret: Oh well, guess we'll just have to shoot it again!

Ravioli: You mean I'm supposed to take a blind old bat, an assistant who can't form a proper sentence AND the biggest moron I've ever laid eyes on into the rainforest at night?

Margaret: ... yes that's about the size of it

Ravioli: Is it too late to quit?

Sprinkles: yes

Ravioli: *agitated coughing* Hello and welcome to Natural Beauty! In today's episode, we explore the depths of the Amazon rainforest by moonlight, because some lowlife didn't turn on tHE F*CKING CAMERA JESUS CHRIST-

Margaret: Dear, tone it down a little, my eyes are hurting

Ravioli: yOU CAN'T EVEN SEE

Margaret: yes, but if I could see, I'd wish I were blind

Ravioli: Here we begin at the forest floor, a place so dark it gets almost no sunlight from the overhead layers. The only chance of survival these plants have are if a tree from the Emergent or Canopy layers falls down, which can happen via Strangler Fig.

Sprinkles: Ravioli-

Ravioli: wILL YOU SHUT-

Sprinkles: i'm actually serious move

Ravioli: what- GAH

Ravioli: *clears throat* here we are now at the Shrub Layer, the place in which Lianas truly thrive. They latch onto taller trees and wind their way up to gain sunlight, plants that animals can use to climb to the top

Scallop: i appear to have been captured by a Strangler Fig

Ravioli: Let's move on up to the Under-Canopy before something goes wrong and I lose my temper :D

Scallop: i appear to have been captured by a Strangler Fig

Ravioli: Here at the Under-Canopy, monkeys and birds tend to flock to bathe in the sunlight or hunt for food. These are trees that survived the dangers of the Shrub Layer and were lucky enough to reach the sun for long enough.

Scallop: i appear to have been captured by a Strangler Fig

Ravioli: Above them, we find the Over-Canopy, the trees looming high above the rest of the forest. Many birds of prey spend their time here, watching over big cats and smaller monkeys on the canopy below. These trees are often the strongest as the tallest trees risk death by Strangler Fig.

Scallop: i appear to have been captured by a Strangler Fig

Ravioli: fINALLY we reach the Emergent Layer, the tallest trees in the entire forest! These can grow up to one-hundred-and-fifty metres in size! They're also great places to hang your crew if they don't do what you tell them :D

Scallop: i appear to have been captured by a Strangler Fig

Margaret: It appears he has been captured by a Strangler Fig

Sprinkles: I believe Scallop has been-

Ravioli: Thank you for watching Natural Beauty! *camera cuts*
