PROM WAS supposed to be one of the best nights of a teenagers life.

So why was Austin Moon second guessing his date?

He had spent his time writing a song for his date and wanted to have his tie match her dress.

So, why was he second guessing his date?

He wanted to be at prom with Charlotte and she was nowhere to be seen.

Well, until she was.

Carter had pulled a ton of stuff to get Charlotte here and she showed up.

Her dress (as embarrassed as she was) had been her mother's wedding dress because they couldn't get Charlotte a new one last minute.

She felt out of place almost. She felt like she stood out too much with the dress, but no one else knew she was wearing a wedding dress.

Charlotte made her way towards the drinks when she bumped into Austin and Piper, who had been on his back.

"Hey." She smiled.

"Hey, Char." Austin chuckled, "You decided to come."

"Wow. You look great." Piper said.

Austin scoffed, "I guess she looks okay. I mean, I've seen her look better."

"Thank you?"

"See ya." Austin said and quickly left with Piper on his back.

Charlotte nodded slowly and grabbed her a drink from the bar.

It had been evident to her that Austin wanted to avoid her at any means necessary.

She pressed her back against the wall and crossed her arms over her chest as she took a sip of her drink.

Like she said, she didn't want to both her friends when they could possibly have one of the best nights of their lives... so that's what she did. She stayed back.

A FEW hours had passed and at this point Kimmy had been on stage, a smile bright on her face.

"I hope everyone's having a good time! I'm not. My date has chickenpox. Anyway, it's time to announce this year's prom queen and king!"

"I've been looking for you." Carter said with a smile, "Look at you!"

"Thanks, at least you think I look nice."

"Someone said you didn't?"

"No, big deal." She smiled, "You think you won prom king?"

"No... I rigged the vote."

"You rigged the vote?"

"This year's prom king is... Austin Moon!"

"You didn't." She muttered.

"But I did and it was fun."

"And this year's prom queen is... Charlotte Taylor!"

Charlotte faced Carter, "You are the worst kind of friend."

"Thank you." He smiled, "Now go get your crown."

Charlotte sighed as she made her way on stage and Kimmy placed the crown on her head.

"And now it's time for the traditional king and queen slow dance!" Kimmy said.

"Does it have to be slow?" The two asked.

"Yes."

The two of them sighed and Austin help Charlotte off of the stage and towards the center of the dance floor.

Austin kept taking subtle glances back at Piper and sighed.

"I'm sorry. Do you mind if I go talk to Piper for a sec?"

"Yeah. That's great that you'd say that because I have the sudden urge to use the bathroom."

The two of them separated and Charlotte grabbed Carter's wrist and pulled him out into the hallway.

"Kinda looks like you're getting married." He laughed.

"Are you crazy!?"

"There is no good answer for that and you know it."

"Why would you rig the vote?"

"Because I'm an evil genius, duh."

"I need you to be serious, okay. Austin brought Piper to prom. Austin likes Piper. You should be happy for your cousin."

"I'm happy that my cousin's here but I'm not happy that's she's dating my best friends on again off again boyfriend."

Charlotte sighed, "Piper is a nice person and she seems to make Austin really happy. I like Austin but I'm not going to get in between and his girlfriend and neither should you."

"Charlotte-"

"Please butt out of my love life, okay? It's messy and nasty and gross and other adjectives. Let me deal with my love life and you be happy with Dez, okay? That's all I'm asking."

"Charlotte?"

The two of them turned and saw Austin standing close by.

Carter excused himself and left the two alone.

"There's something I wanna tell you."

"Now it's time for that dance contest!" Kimmy announced.

"Can it wait? I kinda wanna see if Dez and Trish can pull this off."

He gave her a soft smile and the two of them entered the gym to watch the contest.

In fact, they did win but it was an ultimate loss for Trish and Dez as the thousand dollars was going to be donated to Chuck's club.

Austin had separated himself from the others and Charlotte found him by the drink bar.

"Hey." She smiled, "You wanted to tell me something?"

"I just broke up with Piper." He smiled.

"That's a good thing?"

"Yes, but if she ask, she broke up with me." He chuckled.

Soon, the song has changed. A slower song booming through the speakers.

"Hey, we never got to slow dance." Austin said, holding his arm out to take.

She took it gently and the two of them headed towards the dance floor.

"So... why did you and Piper break up?"

"Because I still have feelings for you."

"Oh, so we're just gonna be straightforward and get to the point."

"I guess." He smiled, "I've always liked you. I guess I've never stopped."

"You know... I've never gotten my perfect prom ask."

Austin removed the flower from his pocket and held it in between the two of them.

"I can't really knock on your door or give you a corsage, but Charlotte Taylor will you go to prom with me?"

She smiled and held the flower close, "Yes."

Now, Charlotte wasn't the biggest person to just show out PDA, but what was there to lose.

The kiss was short. Very short. It was a bit awkward, but sweet nonetheless.

Austin had gotten his girl back and hopefully it was for the long run.
