FIVE. girlfriend and girl *space* friend
WHEN AUSTIN and Charlotte began to date, it was very obvious to the people around how much the other mattered to the other.
Austin's arm was always slung around Charlotte's shoulders. Charlotte always wrapped her arms around his one arm. Austin always hugged the girl from behind.
It was almost like their thing. Just being with each other was enough.
Then they broke up. They stopped communicating for a while, and somehow, they brought their friendship around town, and now they were back a square one.
A kiss here and a kiss there. A date yesterday and a date next week. It was like they (mainly Charlotte) were testing the waters to figure out if hopping back into their relationship was the right move.
But testing the waters can take ages, and people can move on. Someone did move on, and now he was begging Charlotte to hype him up to Kira Starr.
Her breath was no longer smelly, and her personality just as sweet.
"Fine!" She exclaimed, "Fine."
Charlotte sat down next to Austin. A smile placed on her face as Kira sat back down at the table.
"Isn't Austin just the best?" Charlotte smiled, "He's talented, funny, an awesome dancer."
"He can count to ten in Spanish." Ally added.
"His grades don't prove that." Charlotte said, "Is there anything else about Austin Moon that I can say? He's just so... wonderful."
"You're right, Charlotte. He's a good one." Kira smiled and stood from the table, "Well, I gotta run. Thanks for lunch."
The four watched Kira walk away, and as soon enough, Charlotte also stood from her seat.
"Well, that should do it for you, Moon. Let's go, Carter."
Charlotte grabbed her friend's arm and dragged him away from the table.
"Charlotte, slow down." Carter chuckled, "Where are we off to?"
"Cry."
"Oh, is it hospital day?"
"No. It's Austin has moved on, and I've completely wasted his time day."
"That's a long name for something like that. Charlotte, slow down. So what? Austin's moved and so can you."
Charlotte stopped, "I tried. I broke up with him and then we started hanging out again and then we kissed and now he's moving on."
"And you can't?"
"Not right now." She sighed, "I like him and..."
"You can't step in between him and Kira. Yeah, you say this all the time. When is it time that you actually start doing things for yourself? You got this job you've always wanted, and now you've got to get the guy you want."
"Why would I get with someone who doesn't want to be with me?"
Carter pulled Charlotte close, "Charlotte... my sweet innocent Charlotte. You make the man realize what he's missing. When you move on, he comes back."
"And that's a good thing because?"
"Because he'll be in your shoes." Carter explained, "When you and Austin broke up, you two didn't date after that. Have you ever thought that Austin may be trying to make you jealous? Did you see how long he dated Brooke? You start dating again and put Austin Moon in his place."
"I don't think Austin would do something like that."
"Fine. Don't think of it that way. Think of it as... it's time to put myself out there. Expand the horizons."
Charlotte rocked back and forth on her heels, "Fine. I'll work on it."
"That's good enough for me." Carter smiled, "Now let's go watch Tea with Linda. She's having Mila Kunis on!"
ALLY HAD called Charlotte for an emergency meeting... whatever that meant.
Charlotte arrived at Sonic Boom and headed into the practice room. Austin was sitting on the chair close to the door.
"What's the emergency?" She asked.
Austin glanced back, "Kira thinks we're dating... again."
Charlotte shut the door behind her, joining Austin's side in the multicolored chair.
"Why would she think that?"
"She's seen how close we've been since I've signed with Starr Records. So, Ally thought that you could help plan out a date with me."
Charlotte nodded slightly, "Yeah... for sure." She sat upright, "What ideas do you have for this date?"
"A zombie convention! Oh, with pancakes and video games in Dez's basement!" He smiled.
"Austin, you're going out with someone not having a guy's day."
"You always liked doing things like that."
"Kira and I are two different people."
That was true. Kira and Charlotte may share a like or dislike here and there, but they were different people, with different lives, different... everything.
"How about this?"
Charlotte stood from her seat and Austin soon followed. She grabbed a blanket off another chair and placed it on the floor. She pushed Austin down and she sat next to him.
"There's a movie playing in the park tomorrow night." She explained, "Dez and Carter are going. It's the silence romance film."
"Is it at least in 3D?"
"No."
"Then what's the point?"
"Getting a date with a girl."
Austin sighed and put his attention back onto Charlotte.
"Bring a nice and easy snack to eat during the movie. Nothing too loud and nothing too soft."
"These are a lot of rules."
"I mean, you could just do this on your own."
"You know I appreciate your input."
"Then listen. I promise the movie isn't long and Dez and Carter are there. You'll be fine. Just be yourself."
Austin nodded slightly and held a small smile. He really did appreciate Charlotte's support of this date with Kira.
But if Carter knew that Ally had called Charlotte all the way to Sonic Boom to help Austin plan a date with another girl, he would've slapped her.
Carter knew how much Charlotte liked Austin and the waiting game was her safety spot. Now that spot was gone. Carter was going to make sure Charlotte moved on. She would move on, have the best time with this guy, and Carter was determined to let people know that they couldn't mess with Charlotte. Well, they couldn't mess with Carter, who protected Charlotte.
