Round 2
The Next Day:
Naruto looked a the clock, it was just a few minutes before the bell rang. He was anxious, tapping his foot against the wooden floor as his sensei, Iruka, was busy writing stuff on the chalkboard. What Iruka was writing, Naruto didn't even bother to look at. He was still too busy watching the clock, patiently waiting with each passing tick of the hands of the clock.
He hated school. It felt like kami himself made school as punishment for kids his age everywhere. Of course, there were a few upsides. There was this one kid named Shikamaru he liked, mostly because he would help him with homework. Then there was another kid named Choji, who knew how to get the best food at lunch.
But then there were the downsides. Like his brother and sister.
Naruto looked back at his brother, Menma, who was folding some paper. In terms of appearance, Menma almost looked like an Uchiha. Black hair and pale skin were almost his trade-marks. Except for the fact that Menma had purple eyes and had the personality of Minato.
When Menma was done messing with the paper he had on his desk, Naruto saw that his brother made a paper airplane. Menma nudged the kid next to him, whose name was Kiba, and tossed it into the air.
Naruto then looked in front of him, down at his sister, Naruko, who was doodling in her notebook. She was just a carbon copy of Kushina, except for the blonde hair and a more 'cooler' personality. She still had moments of rage, but they passed quickly. He peeked over her shoulder to see a drawing of herself and... what seemed to be a boy with a duck for a hairdo. It took him a few moments to process that it was a drawing of Naruko and Sasuke with hearts between them.
The blonde boy felt like throwing up, sliding back into his chair to leave his sister to her delusions.
He went straight back to watching the clock until he heard the bell ring.
"YEAH!!!!!!! SCHOOL'S OUT!!!!" the entire class screamed as everyone raced out of their chairs and into the hallway.
"HEY! YOU GUYS HAVE HOMEWORK!" Iruka screamed, but he was ignored. Iruka sighed, looking back at the few students who stayed, as not to get trampled by their classmates. It was just Naruto, Shikamaru, Sasuke, Sakura, Choji, a girl named Tenten, Menma, Naruko, and Kiba.
"*Sigh* I swear," Iruka said, walking to the front of his desk and sitting on it, "I'll give you guys all full points for staying at least. No homework, but let's just say it'll bump up your grades, that sound good?"
"Yes, sensei!" everyone said, except for Shikamaru, who was snoring.
"Well, get outta here. I'll see you all Monday." Iruka crossed his arms, watching each student walk out of his classroom, while Choji was trying to wake up Shikamaru.
As Naruto walked out of the classroom, he grabbed his backpack and lunchbox and sprinted out of the school building. But before he could even reach the school gate, he was stopped by his brother and sister.
"Hey, bro? Where ya going?" Menma asked, "Mom and Dad said we gotta go home right after school today,"
"Yeah! Uncle Jiraiya and Aunt Tsunade are giving us something special!" Naruko added. Naruto was mentally hitting himself when he quickly thought of something.
"Well, I'm taking a... detour. I'll be home later, you guys go on ahead." Naruto hoped that this would work, not wanting his siblings to know that he just started to learn how to box.
"Oh... okay, I guess we get first-dibs then! See ya!" Menma and Naruko waved goodbye, sprinting back home with Naruto left in their dust.
'They bought it,' Naruto thought, 'Now to get to the Gym!'
Later:
Naruto was running through the streets, being careful not to bump into anyone as he stopped a couple of feet away from the front door of the gym. It was at this point that he learned that the gym was called 'Might's Gym', and it was owned by the bowl-cut man Jack was fighting, Might Guy.
Opening the front door, he saw Jack holding the first-aid kit from behind the front desk while Guy was bowing to him. Jack had a broken nose and was washing it with rubbing alcohol.
"It's fine, Guy, this isn't my first broken nose," Jack stated, setting his nose back into place
"I'm sorry Jack! I should've held back that punch!" Guy shouted.
"Stop apologizing! Not like I can feel it, to begin with," Jack mumbled that last part, looking up from the first-aid kit and seeing Naruto standing there, lunch-box in hand and backpack in the other.
"Oh, you're here a wee bit late, but it's only a few minutes," Jack said, putting the first-aid kit back where it belonged.
"I'm ready to start training, sensei!" Naruto said, standing up straight. Jack smirked, motioning him to the back.
"Put your stuff behind here and meet me over by the ring, got it?"
"Yes, sir!"
Later:
Naruto waited patiently as Jack was sitting in a chair, cutting some very long cotton wraps. He stood in front of him when Jack set down the scissors and reached for one of Naruto's hands.
"Alright, first I'll show you proper hand-wrapping techniques. Do you see the loop here? At the end of the wrap?" Jack asked.
"Yes," Naruto nodded.
"You put your thumb in this loop and then, what I do, is fold the wraps a couple of times. Afterward, you put that extra padding on your knuckles and you continue to wrap it once or twice around that padding, and then go down to your wrists, wrapping them about three times..." Jack continued to give instructions, making sure Naruto was following along as he put the boxing wraps on his hands. A few minutes would pass before Jack had Naruto put on some boxing gloves.
The gloves were a bit heavy and big for Naruto and his little hands, but he still managed to wear them, despite the difficultly.
"Alright kid, I'm going to teach you some basics, you ready?" Jack asked, to which he got a nod. "Good, now you know your left and right?"
"Yes,"
"Okay. Now I'm going to say some numbers. Each number is a punch I want you to throw at me and aim for my hands, got it?"
"Yes, sir!" Naruto replied.
"Good, now put your guard up. Boxers want to try and have their guard up at all times when fighting," Jack said, putting his own hands up on both sides of his face. Naruto mimicked him, getting ready for his teachers' instructions.
"Alright, you left-handed or right-handed?"
"Right,"
"Good, put your right foot back just a few inches behind your left. This is called the Orthodox Stance. You understand?"
"Yes!" Naruto nodded once more, getting a nod in return from his teacher.
"Okay, we'll start out easy. When I say '1', you throw a left jab. When I say '2', you throw a right jab. Ya ready?"
"I am!"
"Well then... 1,1,2,1!" Jack ordered, making Naruto throw a jab with his left. The jab was slow, as Jack saw Naruto actually pull his left fist back and then throw it forward. Jack gave a small huff, easily placing his palms in the middle of Naruto's fist and catching it.
Naruto raised an eyebrow as he was pushed back onto his butt as Jack leaned forward and looked down at him.
"What did you do that for?" Naruto asked
"You telegraphed your jab. Don't reel it back. It makes it easy for your opponent to dodge or even counter your punch. Just extend it. Don't pull back. Generate power from your shoulder to your bicep, accelerate it from your elbow, and strike. Now, get back up and keep your guard up as well." Jack instructed.
Naruto took a deep breath, getting up and going back into his stance.
"Now! 1,1,2,1!" Jack barked, to which Naruto did as he was told.
[Hope you all liked the new chapter!]
