Y/n's POV

Run.

All I could think of was to run, to get away, to find a way to be faster. I needed to escape. I had to find a way to make them lose me. I was already running long enough and I don't think that I will last much more. My breathing was fast and my whole body was trembling with fear. However, I couldn't stop yet. I must continue running.

My body was passing between trees, through bushes and jumping over rocks. I was stumbling time to time, but every time I would just pull myself together and continue moving fast. Every time I would ignore the thorns that hurt my body. Every time I would ignore the heavy steps behind me in an attempt to convince myself that they were losing me.

-"There she is!"

A man's voice declared as an axe came flying to me. I avoided it just in time as my eyes widen with fear. They were close. They could catch me. They could kill me.

I wanted to run fasted, but my body couldn't do more. I was getting tired and if I didn't take a break soon enough, I would collapse from exhaustion. I would give the chance to them to catch me. The hunters would capture me.

Suddenly I stopped running as I reached the end of a cliff. I looked down noticing that a river was just right under it. I was too high to jump. I didn't know if the water was deep enough to take my fall or if it had rocks under it that I could kill me. However, I didn't have time to think. I needed to act immediately and before I knew it I jumped. For a moment I felt like time had stopped for me. I felt alive. And then my body hit the water making me go under it. I tried to go to the surface, but the strong waves pushed me on some rocks making me hit my head and faint. I lost my consciousness as I let the water guide me away from there.

I had survived... for now.

Tik tok, tik tok, tik tok.

The clock's disturbing sound woke me up from the deep sleep I was in. I groaned annoyed as I started opening my (e/c) eyes. Once they adjusted to the morning light I started looking around noticing that I wasn't in my room or anywhere else that I was familiar with. Then I remembered what had happened. The hunters, me running, jumping from the cliff. I immediately tried to get up but a sharp pain on my right leg made me fall on the wooden floor. I looked down curious, seeing that half my leg was covered in some kind of gypsum.

-"You have to be kidding me." I murmured annoyed not remembering getting so hurt.

Suddenly I heard heavy footsteps coming my way. I looked up at the door just in time to see it open as a man entered the room. My eyes stuck on him for a moment taking every detail of his appearance. White hair, black eyes hidden behind a pair of glances, plain clothes covering his body, but making sure to give me an idea of what was under it and lastly an axe in his right hand.

Wait! An axe?

My eyes widden with fear as I crawled backwards in attempt to put more space between us. He noticed immediately what was happening and without thinking he let the axe down slowly making sure that I was watching him. It was like he wanted me to trust him.

-"I don't want to hurt you. I am here to help you." he said as he looked in my eyes.

-"You look like a hunter." I told him glaring at him.

-"I am not. I am a wizard." he told me as sat on the floor two feet away from me.

-"How do I know that you are telling me the truth?"

My question made him smirk as his eyes had a strange excitement in them. He brought his hand in front of him before mumbling something that made small fireworks appear. I looked at him amazed and once he noticed it he made the fireworks change as a flower was visible now in his hand.

-"Do you believe me now?" he asked me as he played with the flower in his hands.

-"I guess I do." I answered as I relaxed a little.

-"Good. Now let me help you." he told me as he stood up.

He helped me get up and sit on the bed that I was sleeping minutes ago. Without saying a word he started looking at my wounds that I had all around my body making sure to not touch my injured leg.

-"What happened to my leg?" I asked him curious.

-"It was twisted. Do you not remember it?" he asked me as he continued cleaning my wounds.

-"No. I was too busy trying to avoid the hunters." I mumbled as I sighed.

-"You are safe now."

-"How did you find me?" I asked him as I looked at him.

-"I saw you laying unconscious at the nearby river. You looked dead and would have been so if I didn't arrive that time to cure your wounds." he answered as he finished his job.

-"You are a wizard. Why didn't you use your magic?"

-"I don't specialize in that kind of magic."

-"And in what kind of magic do you specialize?"

My curious question made him smirk as be approached me again. I was expecting him to show me his true powers, but he just lifted me in his hands caring me outside of the room.

-"You must be starving. I will prepare something for you." he told me as he took us to the kitchen.

-"You avoided my question." I told him annoyed.

-"I did, but to be fair you didn't tell me anything about yourself or what kind of creature you are." he said as he put me carefully on one of the kitchen's chairs.

-"I am (Y/n). I am-... I was a fairy."

-"Was?" he asked me confused.

-"The hunters cut my wings." I told him with a bored look in my eyes.

-"I am sorr-"

-"Stop! I don't need your pity." I interrupted him as I glared at him.

-"True." he said as he turned around to cook.
-"I am Kabuto. Nice to meet you (Y/n)."

I just nodded my head as I stared out of the window. I could see a beautiful garden full of unique flowers and herbs that was taken care of very well. I was really curious as to why such a handsome man was living in the woods by himself. He looked so much like the humans that could easily blend with them. It was like he was hiding or he was avoiding something. Seems like I will have to find out, since I will stay here more than I wish I would.
