Being different is sometimes a good thing.

I always admired things that were unusual. I always paid more attention to the extraordinary than the ordinary of life. I always found it amazing how something small or big can differ so much from what the world always told me. Everyone was just seeing a safe world, but I was following an adventurous one. I was watching what the human eye couldn't see. I was different from the day I was born. I am the definition of the unknown, of the unsafe world that everyone is so scared of.

My family, the Hyuga clan, is famous all around the world for its beautiful white eyes. So it was only natural that I will inherit the same eye color as my family. However, what no one expected was for me to be able to see things that the human eye couldn't see. I was able to see a world full of secrets, full of mysterious creatures, full of monsters. I could see the ''other side'', as I call it. A side that protects and destroy the humankind. A side that I am not afraid of.

So it's only natural for those creatures to be in shock when they realize that a mortal like me can see their existence and not be afraid of it. It's natural for them to try to hunt me in an attempt of creating fear in my mind and soul. They are more afraid of me than I will ever be of them, since their identity, their world, is in danger if I ever spoke to anyone. I understood that when I realize that I am the only one that can see them. I am the only different person in the whole town, maybe the whole world too.

Who knows?

The school bell rung pulling me out of my thoughts. I looked up from my notebook noticing that everyone had already gotten up from their chairs getting ready to leave for the day. A small smile was placed on my lips as I did the same thing. My steps were steady and slow as I was walking among the crowd of students out of the school. My eyes tried to avoid the creatures around me, but it was impossible to avoid all those fascinating vivid souls. All those shadows, those strange bodies, those scary eyes. It was impossible to not be amazed by all of that.

My eyes fell on a specific creature. It was rather big, brown with black spots. It reminded me of an animal, a raccoon I would say. It's black with gold eyes were rather fascinating than scary. They were giving a sense of protection than fear. They were amazing.

However, my eyes fell on the person beside the creature. There next to it stood a young boy around my age. A phone in his hands as he was walking away. His eyes fixed on the device in his hands not noticing the raccoon like creature that was following him. Of course I wasn't expecting him to be able to see it, but it was strange that a creature so powerful and magestic like this one was following a mortal like it was its owner. Without a second thought I started following him not caring much if I was late for lunch. My parents would be used to it by now anyway.

My steps were a little faster than normal as I tried to get closer to them. For a moment I saw the creatures mouth open and saying something that didn't reach my ears before closing again. After that the young boy started walking faster and more sure than before. It was like now he had a more certain destination than before. It was like the creature told him where he was supposed to go. My white eyes widen when I realized what was going on and without thinking I started walking even faster. The demon most likely had taken over the kid's body and was leading it somewhere where he could take his soul as well. This is something that I call "demonized state". A situation where an evil creature, a demon, wants to be fed with a human soul to please its needs. A situation that in the human world is called suicide.

The boy entered a dark alley making me run so I could not lose sight of them even for a second. When I reached there I saw that the boy was already at the other side of the alley going into an abandoned building. My feet never stopped running until I reached and entered the very same building as he did. My eyes were scanning everything. They were trying to find the boy, the demon that was controlling him.

-"Why are you following me?"

A voice was heard from behind me making me tense. I immediately turned around making me face the boy that I was chasing all along. When our eyes met my body relaxed since I saw a safe soul and not a dark one being controlled by a demon. However, if he isn't controlled by the demon then why is it following him?

-"I asked you something." the boy told me as his white eyes glared at me.

-"I... I thought you were someone else." I lied to him as I smiled awkwardly.

-"That's not true, is it?"

A more deep and dark voice asked me making me look at its direction. There, at my left side, right in front of me and staring in my eyes was the raccoon like creature that I was chasing all along. He had a sharp look in his eyes ready to devour me any second if I dared to run away. It was amazing how such a glorious creature was standing right in front of me. I was more fascinated by its power than the fact that I was supposed to be afraid of it.

-"You can see him...? " the boy asked me shocked that I haven't screamed yet.

-"Him? That means you can see him as well." I told him as I returned my attention to him.

-"Yes. That's because he is mine." the boy said answering my question.

-"Yours?" I asked him confused.

-"I am a protector of his family. It's my job to protect him and keep him safe through anything." the creature answered as he walked towards its owner.

-"Amazing! I didn't know that this could happen!"

My excitement was visible from far away as they stared at me confused. For me it was amazing how a mortal and a creature could have a bond so strong that lasted through generations. It was fascinating how they were aware of each other with no sign of fear. They could see, understand and talk like I do with all the creatures that exist out there. On the other hand, they found it strange how I haven't screamed or died from fear like a normal human being would have done by now. They were expecting me to freak out, to be afraid of them, but I was more than just that.

-"How can you not be afraid of him?" the boy asked me as he tried to understand what was going on.

-"Long story short I can see all the creatures that exist in this world. My eyes are quite different." I answered as I pointed happily to my eyes.

-"And you aren't scared?" the demon asked me staring in my eyes.

-"I don't find a reason to be afraid of you or any other creature out there."

-"We could kill you."

-"What's stopping you then?"

My question caught off guard the creature making him stare at me and not be able to form a response. The very same question was asked to many more demons out there. Demons that wanted me to shattered from fear and submit to them. Demons that couldn't come up with an answer as the raccoon like creature in front of me.

-"You are strange." the boy told me as he crossed him hands in front of his chest.

-"No. I am just different." I answered proudly.

-"I like her."

-"Should we not be worried, Shukaku?"

-"I don't think so."

-"Wait! He has a name??" I asked him excited as I walked closer to them.

-"His name is Shukaku, Ruler of the Suna demons. And I am Gaara of the Sand, son of the Kazekage."

-"That's why you look familiar. You look a lot like the Kazekage."

-"I know."

-"Do you have anything planned for today?"

-"I don't think so." he answered with a confused look.

-"Great!" I said as I took his hand dragging him with me out of the building.
-"We will go to eat lunch together! You have to tell me so much about demons!"

-"Wait!" he said embarrassed without making anything to stop me.
-"I don't even know your name!"

-"I am (Y/n) Hyuga." I told him smiling without stopping walking.
-"And we are going to spend a lot of time together!"

I wasn't looking at him, but judging from Shukaku's laugh I am sure that he blushed a lot. My smile grew, since I knew that this was just the beginning of something big and great. This was the beginning of an adventure, a trip to the unknown with my dear new friends.

-"I like her so much!!!" the demon laughed out loud as his loud steps could be heard behind us.

It was the beginning of something different.
