Neji's POV

Paradise is as beautiful as every book says. A place where everyone can be happy. A place with no boundaries. There you can be whoever you want to be. Paradise is the place that every living thing dreams of. They dream of the impossible and that word doesn't exist here. However, as beautiful as it may be it becomes boring after a few years. Dreams are a nice thing to have, but once you have fulfilled them all there is nothing left to do. So it starts getting boring. It's tiring that you have one eternity to do everything you ever wished for. So once you finish having fun you have to choose between two things. You either become an angel and protect Paradise or you go back to earth and live once again. It's a hard decision, because you either lose this dreamland for an unknown life or you stay here losing all the adventures as a human being. So hard to choose from, yet so easy.

I had to do the same thing years ago. I had to choose between those things. However, surprisingly to everyone else my answer came out fast. I wanted to stay here, in Paradise. I wanted to stay in a place with no pain, no wars, no cries. A place that everyone is happy. That's what I wanted and that's what I got.

-"Go there please."

My voice was barely showing any emotion. It was almost too cold to belong to an angel. However, I did nothing to change it, since I was already in a bad mood.

-"Come on Nenji. Smile a little. You are supposed to have a welcoming smile on your lips!" the guy next to me told me as he had a bright smile on his lips.

-"How am I supposed to smile when I have tasked with this job, Naruto!" I almost shouted at him out of anger.

-"It's not so bad to welcome dead souls to Paradise you know."

-"I wanted to go fight a demon or something. I didn't want... This!!!"

I was way too angry. All I wanted was for once to be tasked with something useful, something that could make me feel alive once again. Yet, here I was at the entrance of Paradise welcoming the new souls. It was way too boring. I had to sit and wait for a soul to come so I could explain to it what is happening and give it to another angel to show it around.

-"Just do this one right and maybe they will acknowledge you. After all you only complain about your jobs." Naruto told me before flying off.

I sighed as I sat down on my chair once again. I had to calm down before an archangel passed by and saw me. If that happened, I would be given another negative grade, which wouldn't let me take the jobs that I truly want. Sometimes I think that being an angel is too troublesome, but I prefer it than going back to earth.

A soft bell was heard signaling me that a new soul had just arrived. I took a deep breath before standing up as I tried my best to look happy, which for now wasn't going well.

-"Welcome to Para-"

My words were cut short once my eyes landed on the person that had just entered. There, a few meters away from me, stood a young girl that barely seemed to be 18. Her whole body was covered in blood as terror was visible in her eyes. She seemed to have a hard time understanding what was happening, since she didn't know where she was or what was going on. She was murmuring something that I couldn't hear as her hands were holding tightly her dress that was red due to all the blood that she had lost.

-"Calm down please." I told her smoothly as I took a few steps closer to her.

-"Where am I?! I was supposed to go home!!! My... My parents will worry. I... That car..."

-"Take a deep breath please."

Naruto had warned me about this. People that had a tragic and fast death were in shock for few minutes before the memories came back. Those kind of people had to be treated carefully, since pressure could panic them and turn them into demons. They were the most dangerous souls. Souls that could destroy a big part of Paradise before being taken down. So I had to be careful.

-"Stop!!" she shouted making me stop moving.
-"Take me back!! I... I have to go home! Yes! I have to go home to my parents!!!"

-"Take a deep breath please." I repeated in a kind and calm voice.
-"What do you remember?"

-"I remember... My car... I was driving when a bright light appeared... I... I... I have to go home!!"

Her voice was filled with fear. She was panicking. She didn't know what had happened. It must was way too sudden for her. It possibly was a car accident as she was on her way home. She repeated enough words to make me understand this much. Now it was my time to calm her down before she turned into a demon.

-"Sit down if you feel dizzy." I told her as I looked in her (e/c) eyes in a calming way.

-"If... If I don't go home my parents... The cake... They will scold me..."

-"Don't worry I talked with them. They told me to calm you down before going there."

Obviously that was a lie. However, it was my only solution to calm her down. She was way too scared. I had to do something before it was too late.

-"Did they?" she asked me as she looked at me for the first time.

-"Yes. Now please take a deep breath."

She immediately did that making her body relax and stop being so tensed. Then her eyes started looking around as a sign that she was understanding where she was.

-"Tell me what you remember." I told her as I started walking closer to her.

-"I was driving home. I was late and my parents would scold me for that." she said as her eyes went on her hands.
-"I remember driving fast, because I had the cake. It was my brother's birthday and I had the cake for the party."

-"What happened on the way?"

-"I don't know. I hit something. I lost control and a bright light came at my way."

-"Was that bright light another car?"

-"Yes! It wa-"

She cut herself as her eyes widen in realization. She remembered everything. It was clear in her (e/c) eyes. She wanted to scream and she would have done so if it wasn't for me. I quickly hugged tightly as I tried my best to calm her down, which surprisingly worked. She relaxed and let herself feel the hug. She let herself accept what had happened.

-"I died." she whispered as her eyes were looking on my bright white wings on my back.

-"Yes. You are in Paradise." I told her as I slowly let go of her.
-"Are you feeling better?"

-"No, but I don't think I can do anything about it." she said in a sad tone as she looked in her hands once again.

-"All people share a common thing, death. So since your time has come it was meant to come. You can't change it, but only accept it and choose what to do from now on." I told her as I walked back to my desk.

-"Are you an angel?" she asked me as she followed me, making sure that I had all her attention now.

-"Yes. I am here so I can welcome you to Paradise." I told her as I took a paper and started writing things about her identity.

-"I see. So I won't go back..." she said in a sad tone.

-"Not now, but maybe someday you will. For now I would like to know your name."

-"(Y/n) (L/n)." she answered as she looked over to me.
-"Thank you for calming me down. I... I had panicked way to much."

-"Don't mention it. That's my job you know." I told her as I gave the paper with her information to an angel that had just arrived.
-"Now please follow him. He will take care of you."

She nodded as she walked over to me. Her hands went around my body hugging me tightly as she whispered a thank you in my ear. After that she let go and went to the other angel so they could leave.

My eyes never left her body until she disappeared from my sight. She somehow made me calm down and forget everything for a little. For a moment it felt like it was just me and her. For a moment I was alive. I got out of my thoughts once I heard the bell rung. Another soul had just arrived and was waiting for me to welcome it. Another job for me.

-"Welcome to Paradise."

Maybe this job isn't so bad as I thought.

.....

The end.
