Peter Oneshot: Happy Birthday Death Girl!
blub
(A/N: Hey guys! THis is a very special oneshot that I talked about in the only other oneshot of this kind; A birthday oneshot for a friend that lives somewhere else. Anyway, this one is for my friend Samantha. She now lives in a different state and is still moving in, so I thought this would be a more convenient present then something physical. I hope you like it Sam!)

Happy Birthday!
Peter's POV
"Okay." Susan said."So you told Sam that you won't be there for her birthday?" I nodded, shuffling through my boarding papers and ticket to make sure I have everything."And she believed you?"
"Yes, Sue. She believed me." I reiterated. Susan's constant nagging as she drove me to the airport weren't helping.
We were talking about my girlfriend, Sam. She lives in South Dakota and I live in New York. Her 16th birthday is tomorrow, and I was flying out there secretly to surprise her with the help of her friend Becca.
"Are you ready?" Susan asked, pulling into a airport parking spot. I nodded, but I didn't feel very confident.
"You know, she'll either smack you or kiss you." Susan joked, voicing my thoughts. I was kind of worried about what Sam's reaction would be.
"I know."
*le small baby time skip*
I sat down in front of my terminal. I was fifteen minutes early, so I had a bit of time to kill. I decided to text Sam before I got on the plane.(A/N This will be me first time writing text messages so it's probably really cringey.)
You- Ello
I waited about a minute before Sam replied.
Sam<3- Hey
You- I miss you
Sam<3- I miss you more. I can't wait for September.
You- Me neither <3
You see, Sam thinks that I'm coming up in September for a trip with her family. She doesn't think she's going to see me before then.
Sam<3- What are you doing?
Crud.
You- Watching Lucy
Sam<3- I have to go
You- Ok, love you.
Sam<3- love you too
It seemed believable enough, I think. I couldn't tell her where I really was, as she might ask questions and then the whole surprise would be ruined. I decided to text Becca and make sure everything was running smoothly.
You- Hey
Becca- Hello
You- How is she?
Becca- She's bummed because 'you can't be here on her birthday'.*wink wink*
You- Haha. Is everything set up?
Incase you couldn't tell, I'm very worried about this whole thing.
Becca- Yes. Stop stressing.
You- I can't help it!
Becca- Lol. Yes you can. Now, your flight is probably boarding right now. Go on.
I turned to the terminal were a 'now boarding' sign was blinking in green lights.
You- What?!? How did you do that?
Becca- ;-)
You- Whatever. Boarding now. Bye.
Becca- Byeeeeeeee
I picked my messenger bag and small suitcase up and walked down to the plane. The lady took my ticket, ripped off the end and gave me the stub back.
Sitting in traffic on a busy New York morning is annoying. Sitting in traffic on an airport runway is even worse. I pulled out the book I was reading, The False Prince. Becca had suggested it, saying if I read it maybe Sam would. I was at the part where Sage and Imogen are first meeting. This is going to be a long plane ride.
*Le couple hour time skip*
"Peter!" Someone called out as I exited the terminal. You know the area where the taxi guys stand holding signs with people's names? Yeah, Becca was standing in the middle of all of the middle aged men in pristine suits holding a messily made sign with my name on it. I smiled, trying to not look to embarrassed. Becca was jumping up and down, making a lot of noise with her converse and necklaces.
I raced over to her, my suitcase making even more noise. People were watching us now. Not my idea of a subtle entrance.
"Sh," I tried to make her be quiet and stop moving, but ended up having to drag her over to an empty baggage claim to avoid any more of a scene.
"Peter! She's going to be so excited! Which is a good thing, because she's rather sad right now." Becca rambled, her smile failing.
"What do you mean she's not happy?" I asked, readjusting my bag on my shoulder.
"When I left, she was crying." She said. My eyes widened.
"Why? I mean, tomorrow her sixteenth birthday! She should be jumping for joy!" I couldn't think of anything that she would be upset about.
"Peter." Becca scolded.
"What?" I asked harshly.
"She's sad because she wants to be with you on her birthday." She said calmly."I think that you should see her today."
I contemplated the idea. While I had already booked a hotel, I could cancel it. Maybe if she knew I was here early, she would be sad for her birthday.
"Maybe that's a good idea." I picked up my suitcase.
"Yeah."
*Another le baby time skip*
"Okay." Becca said, pulling into Sam's driveway."Are you excited?" I nodded, though I wasn't really sure.
"Are you scared?" I nodded more quickly.
Becca smirked."You probably should be."
We got out of the car and Becca waited while I grabbed my suitcase from the backseat. We walked up to the small house, squinting in the bright sun and heat. I was going to knock on the door, but Becca held a hand up and brought out a set of keys.
"Sam!" Becca called as she opened the door and stepped inside. I closed the door behind me, kicking off my shoes. That has always been one Sam's parent's unsaid rules; take off your shoes before you get too far into the house.
"Yes?" Sam's voice rang through the echo-y house. I instantly smiled. That's the effect her voice has on me.
"I got you something!" Becca busied herself with untying her converse.
"What is it?" Sam called back. She was probably in her room on Pinterest, knowing her.
"Come find out!" I heard Sam's sigh and the sound of a door opening and closing."I'll have you know," Becca started," it wasn't easy to get here."
As Sam came into view, everything seemed to go into slow motion. Her hair was longer than I remembered and was a bit lighter from the summer sun. She was wearing a patterned onesie that was a bright pink color. I smiled. Sam always liked to be really childish before turning a year older. Her eyes were red from crying, which instantly made me feel guilty, but the smile on her face showed that she wasn't that sad anymore.
"Peter!" She ran towards me and jumped, leaving me to catch her as she wrapped her arms around my neck and legs around my waist. My smile grew as I stepped back a bit, trying to steady us."You're actually here!"
"Yeah," I was almost on the verge of tears myself with her finally in my arms."I'm here."
