NapoWriMo 2016 Day Nine: I love you
This one sounds simple, but it can be pretty difficult. Today, I challenge you to write a poem that includes a line that you're afraid to write. This might be because it expresses something very personal that makes you uncomfortable – either because of its content ("I always hated grandma"), or because it seems too emotional or ugly or strange ("I love you so much I would eat a cockroach for you"). Or even because it sounds too boring or expected ("You know what? I like cooking noodles and going to bed at 7 p.m."). But it should be something that you're genuinely a little scared to say. Happy (or if not happy, brave) writing!
I love you
After everything that's happened, after all that I've been through
The thing I'm most afraid to say, is those three words, I love you
I've been there, done that, and I've bought the t-shirt
But if I say those words again, will I end up getting hurt?
To open up my heart, and confess to someone new
They'll have to be special, and be someone who
Will take me as I am, and won't want to change me
Accept my strengths, my flaws, not try to rearrange, she
Will be sensual, and loving, adventurous, and kind
Beautiful, and playful, all these things combined
Intelligent, and confident, loyal, and true
Be down to earth, and funny, does this sound like you?
Searching life's ocean, looking for my pearl
I think I may have found her, are you my perfect girl?
