Chapter Thirty: The Doctor
(Y/n) was quiet as she traveled to the doctor's office. She hoped that Okina would not make her go on sick leave, she still had to prepare for the two new arrivals. The icy therapist reached up and touched the wound on her head and winced. It was a nasty cut. She walked to the clinic and sat on the chairs, waiting her turn to go see the doctor. There were some inmates around that needed to be looked at for minor injuries. The therapist's soft eyes looked around at the others before she looked down. Was everything she was experiencing all in her head? Was this spirit really just a hallucination? She did not want to believe that, she liked his company.
Her floral pink eyes that were rimmed with iceberg blue looked up as her name was called by the doctor, Okina. She stood and walked into the clinic. Her steps were wobbly, she had to be helped to the examination table by the medical android. The grumpy doctor took a look at her head wound, "And how the hell did this happen?" "I think I hit my head on my coffee table when I fell asleep.," the therapist responded.
"Damn clumsy kid.," the old doctor muttered and grabbed some materials to clean and dress the small wound with, "Has Your Narcolepsy been acting up lately." "It's been more frequent, yes.," the therapist replied as a antiseptic covered cotton ball was dabbed on her wound. She hissed from the contact with the cleaning solution. Okina sighed, "Stop being a baby." "I'm not being a baby, the reaction between my blood and the cleaning solution is hurting the exposed nerves.," (y/n) replied, "At least you're not a doctor that gets off on seeing people in pain." "Now that sounds like an asshole.," the old man spoke as he cleaned the blood on the young woman's face. Her snowy skin finally showing from under a sheet of blood.
"Yeah. I can't believe someone like him even got a medical license.," the young woman continued, "But I guess that is why he is working with Elf with hurting all of those people. Not even Shiro or myself was safe from him." Okina did not respond, only made a grumpy hum. Kaguya the android stood by to get anything her father figure needed. Okina finished cleaning the wound and started to bandage it, "It only looks bad. It's not that bad of a wound, it will clear up in a few days. However, I will need to do a few tests since this is a head wound."
"Do what you need to, Okina.," the blue and pink haired therapist sighed, "I just want this to be over with." "I'll also need to look at that device on your back. Kazari wanted to take a look at it as well.," the gruff old man said and placed his pipe in his mouth. The end of the pipe was covered in ice. Okina looked down and sighed, "You have to stop that." The icy therapist shrugged, "Sometimes it happens without me wanting it to." The old man placed his pipe down and motioned for her to show him the device on her back. She turned on the table and took off her top to let him see the device in the entirety. She heard Okina call Kazari over and the couple bicker before taking a look at the ice cold device that was attached to her spine. The therapist had to remind them to keep their attention on the task. They did stop fighting after a while.
She laid on the table and let them poke at the device with the tools they had. The therapist dozed off as they ran tests and made images of the device. Her sleeping mind was filled with the image of that deep and dark ocean again. The shapes of sharks swam around. Yet there was no sign of the ocean spirit. She was alone in that abyss.
(Y/n) was shaken awake. Kazari was gone. Okina had finished doing some imaging of the device and wanted to show what he had discovered, he put the images up on the monitor. "This is something that I did not expect, I thought this was just a device that was on top of your spine. But it is not. It completely replaces your spine.," the old man spoke, "Even some other bones in your body have been replaced by one that is the same material as this device. This device has no doubt extended your lifespan significantly, I theorize." The blue and pink haired therapist was still laying on her stomach as Okina showed her the image of the device. "I've seen an image like his before, back in that hellhole where I first got this thing.," (y/n) said, "I've was when I woke up from the surgery. That wicked doctor, the scarred man and Elf were all there." Okina and Kaguya left to see if there was any medication that could help the therapist with her narcolepsy.
The therapist did not get up until she noticed that she was being looked at by Trois. He and honey to have been helping Kazari again. The therapist scrambled to get her shirt back on. She knew that Trois more than likely saw her bra. The young woman had her shirt on and let out a breath of relief. She felt warm breath next to her ear, "White lace? How classy." "Shut up!," (y/n) exclaimed and covered her chest. Her back was still to the chuckling Frenchman, "Your reactions are cute."
"Is that miss (y/n)?," the voice of Honey asked. The icy therapist looked over her shoulder he was looking in while Trois had his hand on the woman's shoulder. "It is, Honey.," Trois answered his cell mate. (Y/n) placed her cold hand onto Trois' to get him to let go. The mint green haired Frenchman let her go, only to get a flick to the forehead. "Don't peep in on ladies.," the cold bodied woman told them. "I was not peeping on a lady, I was looking in on who was the patient.," Trois replied with a smile as Honey walked up to join him, "Did you bump your head when you fell?" "Yeah, against my coffee table.," the blue and pink haired young woman replied, "Narcolepsy."
"You're not too injured are you?," Honey asked in his charming voice that he reserved for women. "I am fine. Just a scratch.," the icy woman replied and sat back on the examination table, "Are you two helping Kazari again?" "Yes we are.," Trois answered before his deep pink eyes looked over to the images that were on the screen, "Is that the device on your back?" "It is.," (y/n) replied, "It's not just attached to my back, that has replaced my entire spine." Trois examined the images of the device, taking in all of the parts that had been revealed thanks to the internal imaging. His mechanic mind must have marveling at the complexity yet simplicity of this device, a science behind it not yet known by the world.
"It must have hurt to have that replace your entire spine. And you mentioned before that you were unwilling in this procedure?," Honey asked. He got a nod from the icy young woman as frost covered the ends of her hair and fingertips. "Bastards.," Honey growled. Trois spoke up, "Miss Hana, can you come here?" Honey and (y/n) looked to the Frenchman who was looking at the images. The two walked over just as Okina an Kazari returned. Trois pointed to an area on the image, "There. That part of the device does not have any power to it and it is the main component. Your device is not even on yet, like whoever installed it in you was in a rush just to get it attatched."
This made Okina and Kazari take another look at the images. "My god, he's right.," Okina said. "It's probably for the best.," Kazari spoke up, "With how much this has already boosted her power, it would be incredibly dangerous to turn it on." (Y/n) looked away from the pictures, they brought up too many bad memories. Her pink and blue eyes closed as she covered her mouth with her frost covered hands. She felt sick. The memories made her feel very sick, the young woman felt the medical android help her back to the examination table. "Do you hurt?," the android asked in a synthesized voice. "No. I feel sick, not pain.," the therapist replied as she sat back onto the table, "Those pictures remind me of the Bastards who did this to me. Who did this to Shiro as well. The faces of those men are burned into my brain."
Kaguya retrieved the medication that Okina prescribed to the young woman. Kiji retrieved his inmates and Kazari went back to her office. The medical android watched as (y/n) took the medication. The young woman rubbed the bridge of her nose. Okina was updating her medical file. A picture caught her eye, it was under a lot of papers but it was there. The face of a doctor, (y/n) made a sharp gasp. It was the same man. Okina looked back at her, "Is something wrong?" "That picture.," The young woman spoke. "It is the man who taught me everything. His name was Isou. The Bastard was a serial killer though, he was found out and executed for his crimes.," Okina showed (y/n) the picture, "I was surprised to learn about that, but I was also glad he was put to death for his crimes."
"That can't be possible. That was the man who did surgery on me. He's alive and looks exactly the same.," the icy woman said, "He's working with the scarred man and Elf, the ones who modified Jyugo and Musashi!" The old man stopped in his tracks. He had to be shocked by this news. (Y/n) now had a name to go with the vile face. Isou. The horrible doctor who hurt both her and Shiro. "You saw him?," the old doctor inquired. The therapist nodded, "I first saw him when I was pulling Shiro off the tracks after the attempt on his life, then when We both were strapped down on tables, being worked on."
Okina put the picture back on his desk and picked his pipe up again. Silence came over the clinic. From the corner of her eye, (y/n) saw the familiar shape of her ocean spirit friend. The old doctor raised his hand and waved it, "You can go, but I want you to not strain yourself as much. Don't forget to take the medicine. Every morning and evening, it's a course of vitamins. You've got some deficiencies." The blue and pink haired young woman took the medicine and thanked the doctor before leaving, she notified the next patient to go in. Her fingers no longer were covered in a light layer of frost, a layer of ice was growing from her fingertips, creating a claw like shape.
(Y/n) crushed the ice off of her hands and carried her prescription of vitamins with her to travel back to her office in building thirteen. She was alone in the halls as she traveled alone. A shape beside her made her look, it was the ocean spirit again. He was walking with her. "Are you okay? Did the doctor visit go well?," the spirit asked. "I'm fine, it's just a little bump.," (y/n) responded as she felt his hand wrap around hers, it was warm. "Good. I worry about you, Yuki.," the soft and clear voice of the spirit spoke, "I talked to Chojiro. He said that he really wants to be friends with you and meet you again."
"I would love to, but, I don't think I'll be able to go back to the mainland with everything that has happened.," (y/n) said as she held the spirit's hand, "He is really cute, though, and I would love to see him again." She heard the laugh from the spirit, a warm and joyful laugh. The robes he wore trailed behind him as they walked together. "Why are you here?," the icy young woman inquired of her shark like friend. "Can't I come see you, Yuki?," the spirit asked back before smiling, "Our connection is getting stronger. You can see me more clearly, right?" "Y-yeah. You're pretty handsome.," (y/n) smiled, "I like your eyes. They were scary at first, but I find them somewhat comforting." The spirit beside her smiled, "I'm glad. I don't want to scare you."
The cold bodied woman took a deep breath and let it out. Clean air filled her lungs and a cold mist of air came out of her mouth, warming her body a little. The spirit beside her let out a small laugh again, "You breathed ice. Like a Yuki onna."
(Y/n) kept walking before she heard her name being called. She turned around and saw Koisuke was walking up to her in a hurried pace. The fox like man was breathing a little heavily as she stopped to let him stand beside her, she saw the ocean spirit's face falter a bit before he smiled again and disappered. Her attention was back on her vulpine boyfriend as he spoke to her, "(y/n). Are you okay? Hajime told me that you got hurt." "I'm fine. Don't worry, I'm sturdier than that.," the young woman smiled at her silver haired boyfriend. "I'm glad.," Koisuke sighed, "I also was worried for another reason."
"What is it?," the icy woman asked. "I was looking for an answer to a question with my talismans. They told me that you are in danger.," the silver haired guard said and took the hands of his girlfriend, "I was worried about you. I want to make sure nothing happens to you." (Y/n) smiled and gave him a kiss on the nose of the mask he was wearing, "I'll be fine, my dear. It's okay." Koisuke was still unsure as the young woman walked back to her office alone.
