Chapter six: Return to a childhood place
(Y/n) clutched the small travel bag as she boarded the boat at the port, she was taking the rest of her leave away from Nanba prison in order to rest and recover from what she did to capture the misbehaving inmates.
She decided to visit the place she used to live with Shiro and his childhood home in Okinawa.
The pale skinned female stood on the deck of the boat to watch the water below.
She watched the water splash against the hull and looked for signs of dolphins. She saw none of the playful marine mammals, but she did see the shape of a rather large shark.
Her eyes watched for the shark more, but did not see it again.
It took a couple of hours, but she reached the mainland safely.
The young woman looked at some bus and train maps to decide how she was going to visit her old home.
She finally decided on a route and took the bus to her destination.
(Y/n) watched the scenery pass by while she rode the bus, it was so different compared to when she was still a teenager.
She saw the areas where Shiro would take her to play, her heart hurt as she remembered him. She had the horrible knowledge that he was gone.
Her mother told her he had been hit by a train. Her mother said that she found him and got help but it was too late.
Just knowing her best friend died in her arms hurt.
The pale woman got off the bus and walked to the site where she learned it happened.
Why did she not remember it? Her Shiro was gone and she did not remember it.
Her footsteps tapped on the cement softly as she came to her old home, she saw a middle aged woman working in the garden.
The woman saw her and came up, "Can I help you?"
"This used to be my home, I just came by to visit.," (y/n) replied and pointed to the wall, "Can I look in the hidden compartment?"
"Hidden compartment?," the woman asked and nodded.
(Y/n) took the real looking false brick from the wall and looked inside.
She reached in as the woman watched, a small package that was stained with blood was inside.
'To Yuki, from Shiro' was written on the card that was stained with blood.
The older lady was appalled by the item that was hidden in the wall, "Should I call the police?"
"No, this is the final gift for me from my deceased friend.," (y/n) said, "His spirit must have placed it here after he died in hopes I would find it."
That made the older woman curious and she urged the younger one to open the package. Inside the package was a couple of small Keychain toys and a note crumbled together.
She opened the note and saw it was scrawled in blood.
'Where are you Yuki? I miss you.'
She dropped the blood covered letter and clutched the blood stained toys close to her.
Was this a message from beyond the grave or was he still alive?
(Y/n) replaced the brick and took the presents with her. She left without a word.
She made her way to Okinawa, it was late when she got there. She thankfully found an inn to stay at.
It was near the ocean and she could see the water from her room.
The water glimmered under the light of the moon.
She fell asleep soon.
"Yuki. Yuki. Where are you?" A voice called for her. It was familiar yet different, the shape of that large shark loomed in the water she floated in. "Yuki?," the voice called again, "Are you safe? Are you happy?"
(Y/n) was awakened by the light from the sun.
She got up and changed into a sundress to look around the island that Shiro grew up on.
The young lady realized she remembered what she dreamed, a large shark shape was calling to her. She put her hair up with the bloodstained flower bow she kept all of these years.
Her first stop was to see if she could find where Shiro lived and then go to the ocean, he loved the ocean even though he could not swim.
The young woman looked around for what she could find of Shiro and his family.
She did find someone who told her that Shiro's parents were no more, that something killed them. She was pointed to their Graves if she wanted to visit them.
The cold bodied young woman thanked the kind individual and went to visit the Graves of her best friend's family. The Graves looked a little dirty from not being kept up like the others were.
She was able to find some items that could help her clean them.
It felt good to help keep them clean, she kneeled in front of the graves.
"Hello, we never officially met but... I am (y/n) Yukinohana. Your son's friend.," the young woman said while talking to the graves, "I was there and tried to help him when he was hit by that train. I can't remember what happened that day though. But I do know that I love your son and I am sorry I was not able to help him more with everything he did to help me."
She went quiet as she felt something was there in the silent graveyard with her.
She continued to talk to the graves as she kept focusing on the source of the disturbance, "I wish that I could have spoken to you when you were alive. I have a feeling you would have much to talk about with how much we love Shiro.
She got up and began to walk away but stopped and looked at her hand.
"Maybe I should. It still is cold enough.," she spoke to herself and walked back to the graves before placing a hand on each. She used her power to make a gift for the graves.
She left a small ice statue of a shark on each grave, "It won't last long but I think you would appreciate it."
The young woman smiled and left the graves with the small shark figures on them.
Her walk down to the beach was pleasnt, she dipped her feet into the water to wade and found it to be warm like Shiro's embrace.
She walked around and found pretty shells, one of which had a small animal inside. She released the animal and put most of the shells back. She only kept one that she liked.
She saw a fun of a shark swimming in the nearby water, it looked to be a big shark.
But there was a human , a young man, playing with that shark. He was too far out to see exactly what he looked like though. She could see that he did turn to look at her though.
Both creatures dove down and (y/n) thought she saw the young man had a tail like that of a shark.
She held the shell she found and returned to the inn to put the shell somewhere safe and get changed to go out to get something to eat before going to bed.
It was similar to the outfit she had on when she first met shiro.
She went and walked through the streets to find somewhere good to eat.
She heard happy exclamations from a place that seemed to be serving alcohol.
Some men were talking and laughing while drinking, they seemed to be having a good time.
'I wonder where Shiro would suggest to go?,' (y/n) thought to herself.
The young woman soon saw a place that had something that they both liked to eat together, 'probably there.'
The young woman went in and got something to eat, she felt like she was being watched though.
(Y/n) walked back to the inn after she finished eating dinner and had a little bit to drink, she was careful to not get drunk though as she liked to keep her wits.
It began to rain as she was walking back to the in. "Oh no!," she said to herself and ran to the nearest shelter. She was not that wet thankfully.
The woman squeezed water from her hair and frost it to make a comb to brush tangles out with, 'I guess Kiji rubbed off on me more than I thought.'
When she was done she waited for the rain to ease off.
Something caught her attention when lightning flashed near the beach, a tall being was standing in the shallow water. (Y/n) could tell he was looking at her.
Lightning flashed again as thunder boomed, she could see the blue patterned cloak covering the being's body. The cloth was soaking wet yet he seemed to not care as he continued to stand in the ocean.
The cold bodied woman wanted to go out there and see if this person was okay.
In the next flash, he was gone and a great tail was above water farther out before diving down.
'What was that?,' the young woman thought, 'An ocean sprirt? Or the ghost of Shiro?"
She decided to run back to the inn through the rain, she got soaked from doing that.
Thankfully the inn had a bath service to let her get cleaned up.
After both a dinner and a good bath, she was ready to go to bed.
(Y/n) felt tired from the day, but it was a good tired and she felt happier.
Her eyes closed as she lay her head on the pillow.
She still felt watched but it felt better now that she knew she did not have to worry.
The female did not have any dreams, good or bad.
The air was clean when she woke. The sun was shining and birds were singing.
"Time to go home now.," the female said and got ready to return to the prison.
She thanked the inkeepers and went to the needed port in order to catch a boat back to nanba, "Today Hajime should be back."
The female smiled and walked to the port, the bright white nanba boat was in the port.
She used her ID as a pass to get on the boat and waited for the boat to set sail.
The ride back was quick and she was able to get back before the sun set.
Her first thought was to check on her friends in each building.
Her first one was in building thirteen, she found Hajime standing outside of cell 13.
Inside was Jyugo being greeted by the other inmates.
The female got a nod from the the supervisor and walked into the cell.
Jyugo and the others turned around, "Yukino."
"Hey Jyugo.," the female greeted, "I hope you aren't mad."
"I'm not, we forced you to show what you could do," the Japanese teen said.
(Y/n) hugged the teen, he flinched from the cold before patting her back.
"What is this for?," Jyugo asked, "You are different."
"I'm had a realization, I need to cherish my friends I made here just like I was cherished by my Shiro.," the female replied, "Then maybe I can start to heal instead of picking at a wound I have kept open for so long."
Uno came up behind the two of them with a smile, "This Shiro guy sounds cool, you should tell us about him sometime."
"Yeah! I'd love ro hear about your friend and you!," Nico said enthusiastically.
Rock joined in, "Tell me about the food you guys had, I bet our chef would help recreate those."
(Y/N) smiled, "Yeah, that would be great."
The boys said goodbye to her afterwards and she left the cell, Hajime was waiting for her. "You are too friendly with them," the man said, "You will get complacent."
"I treat them like humans and they appreciate it.," the female replied, "That is my job, your job is to keep them in their cells and keep them under control."
Hajime did not look happy with her response, "you have something to say brat?"
"You have your job, I have mine. Please let me do mine.," the female said and nodded her head, "Have a good day Hajime."
She walked to building three in order to see Kiji and his inmates.
The two dandies were immediately at their window when she walked by, "Miss! Please come here miss!"
(Y/n) decided to indulge them and walked up, she put on her best face like Kiji showed her.
"Yes boys?," the female asked as she already had an idea what they wanted.
"May I know the color and lace am out of your panties?," the violet haired one asked.
"And the color and lace amount of your bra?", the green haired one asked.
"Sure, only if your answer mine first.," she said with a wink, "How do you sleep? Clothed, underwear or in the nude?"
The two males were stunned by her response and she turned to face Kiji as she heard his heels, "Kiji-nii. Hello!"
"Hello darling, you look like you are doing much better.," the man said and turned to his inmates, "Are you two harassing her?"
"Don't worry, I harass right back.," (y/n) said with a wink, "But yes, I do feel better after taking a vacation."
"That is very good darling, I am happy for you.," Kiji smiled, "are those some new Keychain toys for your keys? Is that blood?!"
(Y/n) pressed her fingers together, "Yes it is blood but it is a few years old and not mine... it is my Shiro's blood."
"That boy that you adored so much?," Kiji asked, "Why do they have blood on them, his blood?"
"This was the present he wanted to give me the day he had an accident and disappeared.," the female answered, "I always assumed he was dead. But there is also this."
the cold bodied female showed the fabulous male the letter she found, "is this also?.."
"Shiro's blood? I think so.", (y/n) said.
Kiji gave the paper back, "These are a morbid discovery. I fear that you may be in danger as this seems to be the work of an unstable individual."
"I prefer to think that Shiro's spirit is watching over me.," (y/n) said, "If you like ghost stories, I think I saw a ghost last night."
Kiji looked horrified at how calm she was, "Darling, I think you need to go lay down, you aren't processing this properly."
"I am fine with this Kiji-nii.," the yonder woman smiled, "but I need to go to me dorm and catch up on some work. See all of you!"
She happily ran off to go to her dorm.
Kiji turned to the boys to scold them, "you two really need to stop sexually harassing women."
