A forty-three year-old shot and killed seven people, while wounding several others. His reason for the shootings involved him being mad at the school for reasons that led to him leaving and being angry with his former peers, because they "disrespected him". He took as secretary as hostage and threatened to shoot her if everyone didn't line up at the front of the classroom. He promised not to hurt the woman if she cooperated, but went back on his word and she became the first victim. He has been reported to not be remorseful over the shooting.

His friends described him as hardworking, cheerful, and gentle. After immigrating to the United States from an Indian state in the Himalayas, he was determined to leave a mark on the world. He had many friends all around the globe and is missed deeply.
Lydia Sim, 21
She is described as a person who was genuinely happy and a ray of sunshine. She had a big smile and made others smile too. Over one hundred people attended a service held for her. Lydia Sim's younger brother and parents miss her very much and hope to find justice for her untimely death.
Judith Seymour, 53
She was a loving wife and a passionate, enthusiastic person. Judith was training to be a nurse at the time of her death. Her significant other describes her as being an angel to him. He says that she loved her classmates and was so happy and proud that she was going to become a nurse.
Doris Chibuko, 40
Her husband said that she was happy, caring, and loving. The couple had three children ages three, five, and eight. Chibuko was born in Nigeria and worked as a lawyer there. After moving to the States, she worked mostly as a stay-at-home mom, but also studied at Oikos University. She was set to graduate two months after her death.
Sonam Choedon, 33
Sonam Choedon was a very caring and nurturing person, very close to her family and friends, and that was why she wanted to be a nurse. She was described as quiet and spiritually-minded, and she loved and wanted to visit her homeland Tibet again. Her family mourns her death and prays for a better life for her in the future.
Grace Eunhae Kim, 23
Those who knew her say she inspired others with her dedication and spunk. Many people posted messages on Twitter after her passing to share her memory. Her and Lydia Sim were the first names to be released after the shooting.
Katleen Ping, 24
She was dearly loved by her family and her four year old son, now 12. She was not a nurse, but a receptionist, and was taken hostage by the shooter. She was full of laughter and love and had a very outgoing and caring personality.
