Since the dawn of time, humans have been envious of those around them. Envious of man's wealth, of women's beauty, of natures bounty. As they gained what they once did not have, they set forth to achieve their next goal until the only thing left was natures bounty. But nature is an unforgiving force, and she fought back.
When humans drained her of oil she washed away towns with tidal waves. When they cut down her forests she cut them down with blizzards. Mankind didn't stand a chance. As Man came to an end, she held pitty for those who had not harmed her. She took those that had not harmed or wronged her and gave them gifts. Each person was given a different gift. While one man was given the body of a horse, another was given wings. When one man was given the body of a snake, the other was given the spirit of the wolf. After she had given them their gifts they hailed her as their mother. She smiled upon her new children and set them out to make the world anew and hoped they would not make the same mistakes their ancestors had. 

As she watched her new children grow used to their new identities she smiled and named them. She gazed upon those with the body of snakes and named them Naga, those with wings she named Avians. Those with the body of hoofstock animals she named Centaurs, those with aquatic features she named merpeople, regardless of their appearance. She named all o her children, and even those in their own species were different. All of her children were beautiful and unique.
Her children spread across the earth, forming new civilizations, languages, but the one thing that they all had that connected them as one, was their religion. The Mother or The Moon is what they called her, their mother. 

The newly made "Mankind" spread across the earth, repopulating, living in harmony with the planet and mostly with each other. Spirit wolves formed packs, Centaurs formed herds, Avians formed flocks, Merpeople formed pods, Naga and other species formed their own groups or lived in solitude happily.
