BIG TIME MOMS

MOTHER'S DAY was coming up and guess who couldn't celebrate... Gabriela Machado.

Her own mother was back in Gabriela's hometown.

Walking outside she felt someone grab her arm, "Hey."

"Hey, Kendall."

She looked behind him and saw James, who seemed to be frozen in shock or excitement. She couldn't tell because he was smiling.

"Waiting for someone?" Kendall asked.

Carlos popped up in between the two, "Ooh, is your mom coming for Mother's Day?"

"I wish. My mom can't fly out. She would like to, but she can't."

Though she didn't look sad and didn't sound upset whatsoever, the boys completely flipped it.

"What's wrong with James?"

Kendall and Carlos looked back at James and Logan, who was waving his hand in front of James' face.

"His mom is in town and wants to take him back to Minnesota." Carlos explained.

She furrowed her brows, "Huh?"

The boys (excluding James) explained to Gabriela what the current situation was as they made their way to Rocqué Records.

They set James in the studio.

"It's for these occasions I've kept such a great friendship with heavy metal's top mom, Lita Ford."

Looking over they waved at her as she stood in the smaller recording booth.

They covered their ears as she loudly, but simply, strummed her guitar.

It brought him back from his daze and they all ran into the room with James.

Gabriela the first being inside. She grabbed ahold of his hand and tried keeping him steady.

"Okay, what's going on?" Gustavo asked.

"My mom- my mom is- my mom-"

"Okay," Logan started, "his mom's taking him back to Minnesota to groom him to take over the family cosmetics business."

"His mom owns a cosmetics business?" Kelly asked.

"She is considered the Estée Lauder of the Midwest." Kendall said.

"She's part powerful, part beautiful... and all terrifying." Carlos added.

Kinda remind him of Gabriela sometimes.

"Well, James is apart of Big Time Rush." Gustavo said, "So you go back to the Palm Woods and just tell her no."

They gasped, "No?" James questioned, "You don't tell my mom no."

"You just don't do it." Logan whispered.

As the boy began to explain to the others about the times they did not tell her no. They looked at the others.

"Your name is Hortense?" Gabriela asked.

"Well, she's was right about my name." Logan said.

"Luckily, I am not a wimp like you'd dogs. So I'll tell James' mom that you are not leaving L.A. or Big Time Rush." Gustavo said.

He was making his way towards the exit and the boys shouted for him to stop.

The boys, Gabriela, Gustavo, and Kelly all stood outside their apartment as they heard Ms. Knight screaming inside.

"Oh, no, she got my mom!"

"She's so taking me home."

"Your mommy is not taking you anywhere, because I am the big daddy, and I have James' contract, which she signed." Gustavo said, "Ms. Diamond, I need to speak with you behind closed doors."

As quickly as he opened the door and shut it, it only opened again with him looking a mess.

"It's been nice knowing you, James."

With that plan not working they made their way back to Rocqué Records.

"All moms want is for their kids to be happy, right?" Kelly asked.

"Right, so all we have to do is prove to my mom how happy I am being in Big Time Rush."

"How do we do that?" Gabriela asked.

"By giving her the greatest Mother's Day gift of all." Kendall said.

Carlos gasped, "A bounce house?"

"Peace and quiet." James said.

"A song." Kendall said, "But not just any song. The mom song."

The group looked at Gabriela, she threw her head back, "Fine. I'll write your mom song."

James smiled and hugged her around her shoulders.

"James' mom will fall in love with the song." Gustavo said.

"She'll cry, realize she's being selfish and that James belongs in BTR and not the family cosmetics company." Logan added.

Gabriela began tapping her fingers against her thigh, "The song has a slow start with the piano playing."

After getting that thought process out the way, Gabriela sat at the piano playing for the boys.

After they performed for her, Ms. Diamond walked inside their fairly large recording room.

Gabriela stood beside James as his mom praised him for the greatest gift she's ever gotten.

"So you'll let me stay?" He asked.

"No." She sobbed.

"You're crying and you're not gonna let him stay?" Gabriela questioned.

"Oh. I applied Brooke Diamond revitalizing eye cream before I came here today. The burning means it's working." She smiled, "Go get your things. Our flight leaves at five."

GABRIELA WALKED inside the apartment of the boys and saw them standing in front of the bounce house.

"Help us."

She held her hands up, "I've already tried and it didn't work. Maybe you just have to stand up to her."

"That's what Ms. Knight said."

"And she's right, James. I wouldn't be here if I didn't stand up to my mom. Sometimes you've got to tell them no and stand your ground. If you really like being here and being in the band, then you're gonna have to tell her no and do what's best for you, because if I didn't stand up to my mom, I would still be in Michigan probably bagging groceries."

"She's right." Kendall said.

"She knows best." Carlos whispered.

"You have the power to tell your mom no." Logan added.

"I can do this." James said.

The four other teens cheered him on.

"BTR means way more to me than cosmetics. I'm gonna tell my mom no."

He walked towards the back and quickly came back with all his belongings.

"Well, it's been fun. Now I'm off to Minnesota."

Behind them, the bounce house quickly deflated.

James and his mom walked out of the apartment and the group walked out behind him.

"We need a plan." Carlos said.

"Run."

The four of them beat the Diamonds outside and saw the limo sitting out front.

"We need to find a better plan than "run." Logan said.

Kendall looked over and saw two people standing in the corner, "Get the door."

After getting them inside the boys cheered.

"What does that do?" Gabriela asked, "She could just call another limo,"

The boys turned and saw James and his mother standing outside with them.

"We tried to stop them, but they just took your limo." Kendall said.

"Yeah, the nerve of some people." Carlos said.

Logan sighed, "Guess that means you're gonna miss your flight."

"Oh, darn it!" James shouted.

"It's nice to see L.A. hasn't changed you, boys, even with the new friend." Ms. Diamond said, "But I haven't changed either, and I always get what I want." She pulled her phone out called someone, "Sarah, get me and my son on the first flight to Minnesota tomorrow and get him ten business suits, twenty power ties, and a pair of size eleven tasseled loafers."

She hung up and faced James, "Ugh! He's frozen again. Be darlings and unfreeze him for me. Thank you."

Gabriela released a breath she didn't know she was holding, "She is scary."

The boys grabbed James but paused as they saw a horse exit the Palm Woods.

They made their way back to Rocqué Records for the umpteenth time today and once again as the guitar blared, James was out of his shock.

"It's no use. She's the most powerful mom in the universe." James said.

"Why can't your dad just talk her into letting you stay?" Kelly asked.

"They don't talk anymore since the divorce and since dad remarried a woman fifteen years younger."

"Well, I don't blame her!" Kelly shouted.

"No one ever said no to your mom before?" Gabriela asked.

"Well, there was this one time my mom didn't get her way, but dad and I were told never to speak about it. Ever."

"Well, what was it?" Kendall asked, "You have to tell us."

"We don't want to lose you, James." Carlos cried.

"We promised to save it for the grave."

"Do you want to stay here with the band or cry your eyes out as you sit in your Minnesota bed?" Gabriela asked.

"It was the peewee hockey party." James explained, "My mom ordered sushi platters and reserved a string quartet, but the other moms wanted beans, weenies, and a bounce house."

"Oh!" Carlos smiled, "That was the best party ever."

"Kendall's, Logan's, and Carlos' moms came over. There was yelling and tears. My dad hid behind the flat screen. I've never seen mom so angry, but the other moms held their ground."

Gabriela smiled, "You boys are smart enough to book a flight, so book two flights for Logan and Carlos' moms. The flight has to be early morning."

"This is gonna be a Mother's Day we will never forget." Gustavo smiled.

GABRIELA STOOD in the lobby the next morning as she saw the boy's mother walking towards her wearing all black.

They stepped closer to Gabriela and smiled.

"Hi, I'm Gabriela Machado. I'm friends with the boys."

Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs. Garcia smiled at her. A small conversation brewed and Kendall walked towards her.

"You know, there was another outfit when went got into the limo."

"I didn't know." Gabriela said, "Is it for James' mom when she says James can stay?"

"No, but it is for your mom."

"My mom?"

Turning her around Gabriela's mother, Diana Machado walked into the Palm Woods.

"You didn't." Gabriela whispered.

"You always do so much for us, so we thought that this was the least we could do."

She walked towards her mother and hugged her tightly.

Pulling away from the hug and talking to her for a while she let her mother go as she, along with three moms she just met, headed upstairs.

She faced Kendall and smiled brightly as she pulled him into a hug, "I literally can't thank you enough."

Hugging her tightly he smiled back.

Gabriela was the first to let go of the hug and held his forearms, "Come on let's go."

Heading upstairs with the others, they walked into the apartment and saw that their mother's excluding James' stood there.

"What happened?" James asked.

"She misses you." Mrs. Garcia said, "That's what happened."

"She doesn't want James to run the company. She just wants him home."

"So what do we do now?" Gustavo asked.

Gabriela stopped forward, "There's a nicer way to help James stay and to show that Ms. Diamond can always stay in touch with him."

After a while the group stood in front of James and his mother.

"Brooke, before you take James to the airport, just hear us out." Ms. Knight said.

Carlos and his mother stepped forward, "My mom hooked up the entire apartment with a T-One line and set up all the computers with face talk."

"And I can set it up on your phone so you can see your son anytime you want." Mrs. Garcia said.

"My mom, the real estate super agent, found a spot for you to open a west coast office." Logan said.

Mrs. Mitchell nodded, "It's a total write-off, but more importantly, it gives you an excuse to visit James at least once a month."

"Once you decide to visit once a month, you two could visit the many places that L.A. has to offer." Gabriela said, "I've taken the time to write out the places here that you can spend time with James. There's restaurants, beaches, and the best places to go shopping."

Gabriela handed her the list and Kendall and his mother stepped forward.

"And I've learned enough about being a stage mom to know that Gustavo will book more BTR dates in the Midwest."

"So you can see James and us sing even more." Kendall said.

"Well, I did love hearing you boys sing."

"What?" Gustavo questioned, "I will not be told to book more dates."

"What?"

"Uh, Kelly, please, uh, book a date for the boys in Minnesota as soon as possible. Thank you."

"Got it."

The boys pushed James forward, "So you don't want to come back to Minnesota to work for the company?" Ms. Diamond asked.

"No."

"Well, my son is happy, I can see him whenever I want. This is the best Mother's Day present ever."

Soon Katie walked into the room, "Long story."

GABRIELA OPENED the door after repeating knocking.

"These are from Carlos to your mom." Kendall said.

Gabriela grabbed the flowers from his hands and laid them on the table.

"Come inside."

Shutting the door behind him he followed her to her island.

"Where's your mom?"

"With the others last time I checked." She answered, "She wanted to meet the other moms before crashing in for the night."

He sat down and grabbed the mug that he slid to her.

"She was nice to talk to on the way here. She's just like you."

Gabriela smiled, "Yeah, I get that a lot."

She grabbed the candy bowl and sat down beside him.

"I literally can not thank you enough for bringing my mom here."

Kendall smiled, "Stop praising me."

Gabriela laughed and rested her head on his shoulder.
