BIG TIME LIVE

BEING AWOKEN at five a.m. was not ideal for Gabriela.

Hearing her phone blare at five a.m. was not ideal for Gabriela either.

"Hello?"

"I would love to say that your morning voice is lovely."

"Kendall?"

"Gabriela! Gab! Gabbie!"

"Why are you calling at..." She removed the phone from her ear, "five a.m.?"

"Can't I call? Is that a crime?"

"Kendall-"

"Okay, remember how I told you we were supposed to be on live television?"

"Yes."

"Well, funny story. We were cut and we know that your such a headstrong woman so could you pretty please help us get back on the list?" Kendall asked, "Did I mention that you have such a nice name? Like, Gabriela Machado... Godsent if you ask me."

"Kendall."

"Gab?"

"I'll help you." She whispered.

"Ah! See this is why you're the best. I'll even be nice enough to come and pick you up."

"Whatever."

Gabriela was not a morning person. She hung up the phone and sat up in bed. She grabbed her room key, slipped on her shoes, and headed downstairs.

She held an energy drink in her hands and sat outside on one of the benches waiting for Kendall to arrive.

Once he did she sat in the passenger seat and rested her head on the windowsill.

Pulling into the lot where A.M. L.A. was shot, Kendall put the car in park and took the keys out of the ignition.

He looked over at Gabriela and sighed. It was obvious that she was tired, exhausted even. She worked late on New Town High, and quite honestly he didn't know when she actually went to bed. It could've been hours before he called or minutes before.

She was also still wearing what she slept in. That being a dark red t-shirt and some shorts.

She had also been working on her songwriting, something she does twenty-four-seven it seemed like. It was what she was passionate about and obviously something she would work on more. She was multitalented and she probably didn't even know it. She could sing, act, songwriter. It would surprise him if she could pull a rabbit out of a hat and called it magic.

He went to brush her hair out of her face, she felt something touch her and instantly jumped.

He quickly retracted his hand, "Oh my, gosh!" She shouted and held hands to her face, "I'm sorry." He said, "There was a bug."

She sat there for a second and sat straight up, "It's okay." She grabbed her energy drink from the cup holder, "Let's go."

She exited the car and headed inside, not even knowing where she was going.

He looked at the backseat and grabbed the jacket left from a time before and followed her inside.

He caught up with her and placed the jacket on her shoulders, "Looked cold."

"Thank you." She smiled and slid the jacket on her arms.

The boys came into view, "She went that way, show airs in fifteen minutes." Carlos said.

The five of them headed towards the stage and saw the producer standing at the podium.

"We looked at the schedule." Kendall said.

"And if you trim just a little time from the weather, the chef dude's weekend recipe, the market update, and cut one Hollywood minute..." Logan said.

"You'll have time for Big Time Rush." Carlos smiled.

"And I can check "live tv face time" off my list." James said.

"This is good." The producer smiled, "No, This- this works. I think I owe you guys an apology."

"Oh, geez."

"Follow me."

The boys followed, Gabriela staying behind, "Guess you really didn't need me." She said, her morning voice still apparent.

"I'm apologizing now, so when you're fully awake you're not yelling at me." Kendall said and wrapped his arm around her shoulder, guiding her along with the producer.

"I'm gonna tell the director to make these changes right now, but I need for you guys to wait in our special waiting room."

The sign with the saying, "special waiting room" written on it, drew the boys' attention.

All four of them going inside leaving Gabriela behind.

She may have been tired but she wasn't dumb.

Once the lady was gone she opened the door for the boys, "Thank you." They all said.

"What now?" Gabriela asked.

"Operation "cut out time from A.M. L.A. so Big Time Rush can perform on live tv" is underway." Kendall said.

"That's a really long operation name." Logan whispered.

"Ooh, how about something cool." Carlos said, "Like, "operation winter blitz.""

"It's catcher, but it's not winter." James said.

"Ooh, how about, get this plan underway or Gabriela is gonna be more upset and tired than what she is now." Gabriela muttered.

The four of them, Kendall, Carlos, Logan, and Gabriela, all sat in a spot where they couldn't be seen as they waited for James to plug the cords in.

Gabriela rested her hand on Kendall's shoulder, she could still see what was going on.

"We're in." Logan said, "The teleprompter is ours."

"Give us a good intro."

They heard the door creak open and James walked inside, "Being the greatest band in the history of the world, check."

"Now to shave some time off the morning update." Kendall said.

James joined them on the floor.

Soon enough the door was kicked opened causing the boys to scream and Gabriela to jerk her head from Kendall's shoulder.

"Hey, there... you."

She pulled the cord and the boys stood up, lowing his hand, Kendall helped Gabriela off of the ground.

"Great news." James said.

"We shaved a whole minute off your show." Kendall said.

"Oh, de nada." Carlos smiled.

"Security."

Gabriela sighed, she should've known she would get into trouble with the boys.

"We should run."

"Right."

The boys quickly exited the room, Gabriela, not in much rush, walking out behind them.

Walking wasn't doing much because she ended up losing the boys.

Walking around until she heard screaming, she entered a hallway.

"Excuse me?"

The security guards faced her, "Hi, I'm supposed to be helping on set but I got lost... is there any way you guys could help me?"

"I'm sorry ma'am, but first we have to take care-"

She didn't give them time to answer, pulling Katie out from behind, she tased the security guards.

"Thanks." Katie said, "I was just about to be the castle guards so I could get to the final boss level."

"Sorry."

Katie turned, "Oh, Katie." Kendall said, "Could you keep mom asleep? She doesn't need to see any of this, right?"

She only rolled her eyes and headed off.

Gabriela rubbed her eyes, "What now?"

Once again following behind the boys, they stood behind a clothing rack.

"Okay." Carlos said, "We gotta cut three more minutes from the show to perform."

"Then operation "we love Ed Begley, JR. but we have to his segment short to perform" is underway." Kendall said.

"Okay, next time, I'm in charge of operation naming." Logan said.

"There won't be a next time." Gabriela said, "And there is do not, and this coming from the heart, call me to help."

"Move out."

Following Kendall, she held the schedule in her hands, "So, thanks to the boys they have shortened Ed segment, and now the Hollywood minute is gone, they only need to cut two more minutes from the show and they could sing." Gabriela said, "But you know what would be easier, if you just let them sing. You don't know me, but I am recklessly tired and at this point, I'm gonna lose my mind.

"They will never perform on my show." She said, "Security!" She yelled into the walkie-talkie, "I need security!"

"We should run again." Logan said.

"Yep."

The boys running off once again, Gabriela stayed behind.

"It would be easier for the bother of us if you just let them perform, but you're just so stubborn." Gabriela smiled, "They aren't gonna stop, just so you know."

With that's she followed behind and saw them run into the waiting room.

Seeing Katie exit the room, she entered and saw the boys facing the exit.

"We're nearly there and after that, we're free and go sleep." Kendall said.

Gabriela only gave a smile, "Why is she smiling like that?" James asked.

"You probably don't want to find out." Gabriela said, "Just lead the way."

The five of them stood below the stage as Kendall began to cut the floor beneath the chef.

"Sorry, chef, but we have to cut this segment short."

The chef fell onto the floor, "He'll be fine."

Carlos popped up, grabbing Gabriela's hand as she joined alongside him.

"Chef Carlito and Gabriela Machado here. This beer blah, blah, blah, just takes way too long after a busy day." Carlos said.

"So instead Carlos and I are making fish stick." Gabriela said, "Kids love 'em and so should you."

"And you'll love being done with dinner so, I don't know, read a book or something. Bam!"

"It's that simple." Gabriela smiled.

Carlos screamed as the guards came around, Gabriela just found her way back down with the other boys.

"You sounded so lovely." Kendall smiled.

"It's called acting."

The two of them made their way towards the stage.

Logan now on camera doing the financial report.

James smiling doing the weather.

There's was a ton going on but at the end, they successfully cut the show by four minutes.

"Oh, if only there was something that could be done to fill that time." Kendall said.

"Hmm."

"Never!" She shouted.

"You literally have nothing else to show." Gabriela said.

"Never! Do you hear me? I'd rather have four minutes of dead air and get fired than to lose to you!"

She pointed two tasers towards them, Carlos pushing Gabriela behind him.

"As long as I'm standing here Big Time Rush will never perform on live tv!"

It was instant, Katie hit her with the golf cart.

"I did it!" She cheered, "I defeated the evil she-beast!"

Hearing a small "ow" Katie looked and faced the boys, "And I was playing while driving again, wasn't I?"

"Yep."

"Miles!"

"Ooh, words for read. Let's give it up for Big Time Rush."

Finally, around six twenty-nine, the job was done. The boys got to perform live on tv.

"You guys were great." She smiled, hugging each of them.

"Couldn't have done it without you." Carlos said.

"Glad you think so." She smiled, "Don't ever ask me to do this again."

THE NEXT day Gabriela sat at a table in the lobby, her arms folded and her head resting on them.

"Gabriela," Kendall whispered, "are you alright?"

She slowly looked at him, "Yes, I'm fine. I'm just tired."

"Ah." He said sitting across from her, "Once again, thank you for helping out yesterday. I promise I'll make it up to you."

"I appreciate it." She said, "I'll let you know what you and the boys can do for me later. Right now, I think I'm gonna take a nap in my own bed. See you later, Kendall."

She stood and walked towards the elevator, but he made sure to notice that she was wearing his jacket from the day before.
