it's not you... it's me

BIG TIME RESCUE

"LOOK, GO ask Gabriela."

Kendall sighed and approached his girlfriend.

"Hey, I have a question."

"Hey, I have an answer."

"Is there anything different about Carlos?"

Gabriela had thought about it. Carlos and Gabriela though being best friends had somewhat drifted apart while dating people, Carlos more so than her.

Carlos has stopped eating corndogs and had distanced himself from her because Jennifer wanted to go and do something with him.

Which is fine, Gabriela understood that, but Carlos and Jennifer were joint to the hip and that was the difference between Carlos and Jennifer and Kendall and Gabriela.

Yes, Kendall and Gabriela had their issues, but they always figured them out. They would say they were joint to the hip, but they also weren't Carlos and Jennifer close... which was a good thing.

"I mean, yeah, but he's not different different." Gabriela said, "He's supposed to be meeting you for hockey right?"

That's when the others noticed Carlos wasn't there.

Carlos had walked over wearing a tennis outfit, "Anyone for tennis?"
He asked.

It had been an hour or so and Gabriela found herself walking through the Palm Woods lobby.

She came to a stop when she saw Kendall looking through the blinds.

"Hey." She smiled.

"She took away his cannonballs. He loves cannonballs. Then Jennifer did this thing with her finger, and he gave them up like he was under a spell."

"Maybe he just really likes Jennifer."

"I really like you and I haven't stopped doing the things that I love."

"Because I'm not telling you to stop." Gabriela said, "Your idea also seems very farfetched."

"Not if she's a witch."

"It does look like a one-sided relationship, but not everyone is like us, Kendall. You do your thing, I do my thing, and they do their thing."

"Right." Kendall said, "Which is why we need to show Carlos what a healthy relationship is like so we can break her teen witch spell."

"I'm not doing that, because every time we do something like this we argue."

"We need to show Carlos what a healthy relationship is like!"

"Oh, so if I get hurt I have to eat my sad gummy bears and have Lucy continuously ask where you are so she can hurt you and I have to act like we didn't just argue twenty minutes ago."

"We are doing this!"

"Fine, if I get hurt, you have to wear whatever I want you to wear!"

Gabriela and Kendall stuck their heads out from one of the cabanas to be able to seek Carlos and Jennifer.

"Okay, operation "show Carlos what a healthy relationship is so he'll realize that Jennifer is treating him unfairly and then he's gonna-""

"Can we please just get this over with?"

They exited the cabana with a corndog in each hand as they sat next to Carlos and Jennifer.

"Who's in the mood for a corndog?" Kendall asked.

"I am and even though I'm not the biggest fan of corndogs, I like to try things that Kendall likes."

The duo crossed their arms and bit into the food.

"Jennifer, did you hear that?" Carlos asked.

"Carlos, bike ride. Now."

"Bye, guys."

Kendall unraveled his arm from Gabriela, causing him to accidentally hit her in her face.

"I am so sorry."

Gabriela only muffled a response.

Kendall grabbed her hand as the two of them followed Carlos and Jennifer.

"You bike." Kendall said.

"I bike?" Gabriela questioned, "Why don't you bike? You just hit me in my face."

It didn't work. Gabriela ended up biking as Kendall sat back and relaxed.

She had finally caught up with the two, "Kendall and I take turns pedaling because relationships are about sharing and give and take."

"Really?" Carlos asked.

Jennifer waved her finger and told Carlos to go faster, which he did.

"Hurry up! You're losing him!"

"I'm going as fast as I can!"

Kendall and Gabriela beat Carlos and Jennifer back to the Palm Woods and began "playing" a game of hockey.

Which caused Kendall to knocked Gabriela down to the ground as soon as the other couple arrived.

"Even though I now hate hockey, I do it because he loves it."

"Gab does things that Kendall likes, even though Gab doesn't like doing them." Carlos said.

"But I like you doing things that I like. Don't you?" Jennifer asked.

"Bye, guys."

Kendall stood beside Gabriela who continued to lay on the ground.

"You didn't see that? The finger."

"I can't see anything from down here." She huffed.

"It is a spell."

Gabriela took the hockey stick and hit him causing him to fall also.

"You're over this."

Gabriela faced him, "So over it."

GABRIELA (after laying down) had knocked on the boys' door.

Kendall opened the door and she smiled, "Hey, so what's the plan now?" She asked.

"The plan is, this relationship is not working out. It's not you. It's me, and I need some space, so we're breaking up."

"Are you joking?"

Kendall didn't even respond as he shut the door.

She stood there for a moment and as confused as she could be, went back to her apartment.

Not long later a knock was heard on her door.

She stood and answered it seeing Kendall standing there, "It's her kiss. That's the spell. She does this with her finger, then they go kiss. She's not a witch. She's just a really good kisser."

"You broke up with me, came here to tell me you figured out the issue between Carlos and Jennifer, and expect me to get back on board with that?" She asked.

"What? No, you didn't actually think I seri- oh, you thought I was serious."

"I told you we do this. We argue and it's not fun for me."

"We're not arguing now."

"I am."

"Look, I'm super sorry, and I can't break the spell without you. So, how can I make it up to you?"

She smiled.

"You enjoying this? Having fun?" Kendall asked, "'Cause you seem pretty happy."

Gabriela smiled and she picked at his sweater, "The pink sweaters cute."

The two of them made it to the park and saw Carlos standing in front of a bush.

They grabbed him by his shoulders and sat him down behind it.

"Nice sweater." Carlos complimented.

"No, it's not a nice sweater." Kendall said, "And you are under a kissing spell from Jennifer."

"I wouldn't say spell, it's more like a trance."

"No, I'm not."

"Carlos, she literally waves her finger in front of your face, then you kiss, then you do whatever she wants." Gabriela said.

"No, I don't."

"Look, any minute now she's gonna come over here..."

Seeing pink shoes they looked up and saw Jennifer.

"I thought I told you, it's either me or them." Jennifer explained, "Now take me to the pool." She said waving her finger in his face.

Then she kissed him.

"Bye, guys."

"If you want to break a spell, you need a potion."

"Yes, because a potion will break this spell that doesn't actually exist. Where would we even get one?"

Ms. Knight spotted the couple and smiled at them.

She was speaking, it was only muffled because of her mouth hurting.

Kendall was repeating his mother's muffled dialogue back to her.

"She can't feel her mouth." Kendall said.

The two of them looked at each other and smiled.

They had made their way back to the Palm Woods and looked at Carlos and Jennifer through the blinds.

"She's had like, nine smoothies today, she'll have to leave soon to go to the bathroom." Gabriela said.

And she was right. As soon as she left they made their way towards Carlos.

"I know what you're going to say, but we're sorry we excused Jennifer of having a spell and- wow, your lips look chapped." Kendall said.

"Yeah, very chapped."

"What?" Carlos questioned, "Jennifer hates chapped lips."

"Quick put this on." Kendall said and handed him "chapstick".

"Thank you. You know, Jennifer is an amazing kisser, and I really think this would-"

"Well, look who's back." Jennifer said, "Carlos, get rid of them."

He only mumbled.

"Okay, you sound confused. Maybe this will clear things up." She said and waved her finger around and kissed him.

He only stood there.

"Okay, why aren't you getting rid of them, and what are you saying?"

"He's saying he doesn't feel the same way about your kiss." Kendall said.

"Oh, yeah? Well, what about this one?"

Jennifer repeated her same steps but to no avail.

"Looks like the spell was broken by the magic potion." Gabriela said.

"So, it is a spell." Kendall said.

Gabriela waved him off.

"What are you talking about?" Jennifer asked.

"Just a little strawberry lip balm mixed with some of my mom's toothache away."

Carlos began to mutter.

"He's saying he could really go for a corn dog."

Gabriela held one up for him.

"Carlos. Eat that corndog, and we're through."

He held the corndog in his hand for a moment before biting into it causing Jennifer to leave.

They had successfully gotten Carlos out of his one-sided relationship.

"You're welcome." Kendall smiled.

Carlos faced them, "Thanks." He mumbled.

Gabriela rested her hand on his shoulder, "There's someone out there for you Carlos, just got to wait it out."

He gave the two of them a lopsided smiled and walked away with a corndog in hand.

Kendall now stood in front of Gabriela, "Say it."

She smiled, "Say what?"

"I was right for once and you were wrong."

"I wasn't wrong." She said, "She wasn't a witch... just a good kisser."

Kendall took a step forward, "Magic."

"It wasn't."

"Was."

"Wasn't."

Kendall quickly threw Gabriela over his shoulder, "Say I'm right or pool time for the both of us."

Panic rose in her voice, "Kendall, put me down."

"Say it."

"You were right! Okay, you were right."

"And she's a what now?"

"She's a witch! A good kissing witch!"

"Now say Kendall's the best boyfriend ever."

"Put me down!"

He steps forward, "Fine! Kendall's the best boyfriend ever!"

"Aww, you think so?" Kendall joked, "I heard such great things about him. Heard he was so talented and-"

"Please put me down."

"Fine."

He didn't.

He threw the both of them into the pool.

Kendall came up first and Gabriela followed suit.

She pushed her now wet hair out of her face. She shuddered before speaking, "I hate you."

"No, you don't."

She smiled up at him.

"Gabi?"

"Hmm?"

"I-"

He was cut off by the sound of Carlos yelling and flipping into the pool.

He popped his head from underwater and smiled at the two of them, "My lips feel fine, so now I can properly thank you, guys. My two best friends trying to look over for me. What did I do to deserve that?"

Gabriela and rested her head and Carlos' shoulder, "Come on! Pool games!"

What Kendall didn't deserve was for Carlos to cut him off as soon as he was going to tell his girlfriend that he loved her... but maybe that was a sign of him telling her too soon.

So, for right now, Kendall was going to play the stupid pool game with Carlos and Gabi.

He knew he had other opportunities to tell her how he felt and he would know when the time was right.
