Jimin asks y/n as they walk out of the college together.

"I just don't." She replies.

"Oh come on! Everyone's gonna be there except for you."

"Even better." She mutters before walking away from jimin towards her class.

Y/n and jimin have been hanging around a lot lately. They have become good friends and enjoy each other's company.

Apparently, jimin's trying hard to persuade y/n into joining the fresher's party. Jimin's a second-year student so he's gonna be one of the organisers and he's excited to invite y/n but y/n somehow doesn't want to attend the party.

Jimin freezes at his spot and looks at y/n's back as she walks away from him. It hurts him to see y/n walking away from him without bidding her usual sweet 'bye' with her sundar(beautiful) and intoxicating smile. Whenever he talks about the party, y/n tends to change the topic or ignore it.

Jimin anticipated to attend the party with y/n but now y/n doesn't even want to come. He had planned everything and had chosen the right vehicle to pick and drop y/n from her place. He had revised all the beautiful dialogues to compliment her and had planned to maybe take a step forward from their friendship. All these dreams were crushed by a single 'no'.

Where the hell did this background music come from? No one knows. But right now, Jimin's feeling blue because he just got ignore by Y/n.

Even though he did nothing wrong, he feels like he is the reason behind the disappearance of y/n's smile.

"Band kar yeh" (stop this) Taehyung snaps at the dude who was secretly following jimin with a Bluetooth speaker in his hand. "Gadha saala" (bloody donkey) Taehyung mumbles before pushing the guy away from jimin. "Chal nikal" (get lost) he says before putting jimin in a headlock.

"Aur tu, aisi sadi si shakal leke ghoomega"
(And you, if you roam around with that shit face) taehyung says and shifts his eyes from jimin to the speaker guy and glares "toh makkhiya toh chape hongi hi" (you will obviously attract flies) he says referring to the dude.

"Come on, She said no to an invitation" taehyung says in disbelief as they sit in the cafeteria. "What's the big deal about it?" He asks.

"Tu nahi samjhega, pagle" (You won't understand, silly), jimin chuckles sadly. "Sapne toh sapne banke reh gaye saath hi saath apne bhi le gaye" (dreams couldnt become reality), jimin says as he stares at the wall in front of him.

"Abey O, manhusiyat ke Tulsidas" Taehyung says probably fed up with jimin's drama. "Wrap up the drama, will you?"

"Bhai-
(Bro)

"Nah. Not gonna listen to your poetry again."

"Help me bro. I really like y/n." Jimin pleads.

"Finally, you admit" Taehyung sighs.

"Bacha le yaar is mayoosi se" jimin says whilst clasping his hands together.
(Help me out of this despair)

"Saale, pyaar me log kavi kyu ban jaate hai?" Taehyung mumbles incredulously.

"I'll help you bro" taehyung says whilst passing jimin a smile. Jimin's hopeless eyes glitter with hope as he smiles back. "Go talk to her." Taehyung says as he sits back in his seat and puts his legs up on the table whilst crossing his arms across his chest. Jimin gives him 'the look' before getting up and mumbling some very nice words to taehyung.

"Hey! I cant do anything here, man!" Taehyung says in defense as he puts his hands up in surrender. "You want the girl, go get her. That's the only cure to this problem, get it?"

Jimin sighs and walks back to his class as the bell rings. On his way, he sees y/n as she enters the cafeteria at the time jimin exits it. They have an eye contact but y/n looks away after some seconds and walks past him.

"Abey chal bey chhipkali" taehyung spanks the speaker man and pushes him away.
(Get lost, you lizard)

"You gotta talk to her, dude." Taehyung says. "For now let's go to our class" he drags jimin to their class.

After all the classes, when it was time to leave for home, jimin mustered up the courage to talk to y/n.

"Hey" jimin says as he walks awkwardly next to her. "Hi" she replies in a soft voice.

"So... what's up?" He asks internally cursing himself for being awkward all of a sudden.

"Going home?" She replies matter-of-factly.

"Right" jimin fakes a laugh. "How was your day?" He asks as he feels like preserving what he has, a friend, than losing her for something else.

She replied nicely with all the details about her day which, according to her, went ok. They talk for some minutes about college stuff and jimin advice her on how to deal with it as he is a year senior to her. Eventually, jimin turns the conversation towards the Freshers party. She replies with the same 'i cant'.

"I am working hard to make it special for you-you all, I really want you to come and enjoy with us" he finally says as he stands in front of her to stop her from moving.

"Jimin..." she sighs and looks down.

"What's the matter, y/n?"

"It's nothing" she looks up and says as she steps aside to walk past him but he succeeds in blocking her once again. "You can talk to me, you know?" He says humbly. She sighs again before looking away from his eyes.

"I can never do what I want." She speaks whilst looking down and holding on to the strap of her bag. "I can't attend parties, stay late at night with friends, wear stylish clothes, have a boyfriend or anything. I can't." She pauses for some seconds. This seems to trigger a sensitive part of her heart and she tries not to burst her useless emotions out at jimin but when he mumbles a "go on, its okay" to her she can't help but let it all out. "I can't make my own decisions coz I'm not allowed to. I can't speak my opinion, neither can I choose what I like. All I can do is live with the stigma of being born as a female, a liability to my family." She says still avoiding eye contact with jimin by looking at the ground. "My life has always been restricted by my so-called household rules." She says in a low voice. "If I break them, I break myself. I'm sorry" she says and walks away only to be held back by jimin as he holds her wrist causing her to turn around and face him. There weren't tears in her eyes but utter despair, anger, and loneliness.

"Y/n" a heavy voice speaks from behind her. She immediately yanks her hand away from jimin and faces the man. Fear is written all over her face for some reason as she faces him. "I-I was just...

"Whatever. Get in" he says as he points at his car. He gives jimin a look before turning around towards his car.

"Ji bhaiya" (yes, brother) Y/n says as she follows him.

Jimin would've shitted himself in front of the college if the man who appeared to be y/n's brother had looked at him for some more seconds. Oh, boi. Gotta stay extra cautious around her. He thought.

He didn't know there was a sad girl behind the mask of a beautiful one, struggling to keep up with society and home at the same time.

Jimin wants to help y/n in whatever way possible. He wants her to enjoy freedom just like others. Not only coz jimin has a thing for her but also coz that's what needs to be fixed in this society. Yes, this is the 21st century and people nowadays are a lot more educated than they were in the past. Old orthodox and stereotypes have demolished but not vanished.

The next day:-

Jimin is in the cafeteria all by himself with a can of coke in his hand. He is sipping coke in the memory of his sweet y/n who has now started avoiding him.

The speaker flies out of the canteen higher than Yuvraj's six sixes. "I'll throw you out just like I threw your speaker" Taehyung warns the creepy dude with a glare. The man runs away from their place immediately after Taehyung rolls up his sleeves.

"Tu use apne aas pass bhin-bhinane kyu deta hai?"*, Taehyung says as he takes his seat in front of jimin.
(*Why do you let him buzz around you?)

Suddenly Taehyung snatches jimin's can from his hand. "Abey, Coke hai daru nahi" he says.
(It's coke, not alcohol)

Jimin seems unaffected by whatever Taehyung has just said. Taehyung follows jimin's gaze which lands on the entrance. "Bro" Taehyung waves his hand in front of jimin's face and then snaps his fingers to bring the lost guy back to the real world.

Jimin finally snaps out of his thoughts and looks at tae. "Bro" Jimin says looking at Taehyung with his worried eyes.

"What is it?" Taehyung asks.

"How to face a guy double your height, weight, and muscles?" Jimin responds.

"You don't, mate. you don't." Replies Taehyung with a tight-lipped sheepish smile making jimin sigh.

A figure walks into the canteen which catches jimin's eyes. A girl with long dark brown hair, braided and kept on her right shoulder, Yellow kurti with a black koti which has yellow embroidery on it and black leggings. Oh how fast jimin's heart pumped blood that he was ready to catch it if it jumped out of his chest.

Jimin grunts in frustration the moment she chooses to sit away from him in the cafeteria. He can't help but glance at her in every twenty to thirty seconds. "you're gonna creep her out, you creep" taehyung says boringly as he sips his juice. It irks him to not look at her when she looks like she has just been dropped here from heaven.

jimin was unable to keep his eyes to himself as today for some reason, he was finding her more attractive. Her face had a glow brighter than her usual self. The generosity in her smile could melt million hearts like jimins. Sighing at his situation, he got up from his seat to attend his class.

One can't count the number of times Jimin has sighed today. Whenever he tries to do something about his situation he ends up being demotivated by himself. Maybe tomorrow, he procrastinates in his mind. Right now he's on his way out of the college with taehyung skipping steps next to him. Taehyung suddenly halts causing jimin to turn around and make a face at him.

"I suddenly need to clear a lot of literature doubts" taehyung says. "will see you tomorrow!" he exclaims before dashing towards their ex English teacher.

Jimin chuckles before shaking his head and turns around to walk out of this boulevard of broken dreams.

"Uhm... Jimin?"

Jimin's heart flutters the moment he hears his name. He stops and turns around to find y/n smiling sheepishly at him. "I'm sorry for avoiding you today" she says apologetically. "I was embarrassed after saying all those things to you yesterday"

"Oh no, it's okay. It's nothing to be embarrassed about" jimin fakes a laugh.

"I just wanted to tell you that I will attend the party"

He sighs. "Yeah I know. I underst- wait what??" His eyes grow big as he looks at her in amusement.

"Yes, I will attend the party with you" she chuckles shyly.

"What about your parents?"

"My brother said he'll deal with them. He heard me spill the beans in front of you yesterday." She smiles.

That beast looking guy is actually sweet? Jimin questions in his mind.

"I'm so happy for you" jimin grins.

Jimin and y/n exited the campus together. Jimin couldn't believe his eyes when he saw y/n's brother smiling straight at him. He had smiled back awkwardly after waving a 'goodbye' to y/n.

Turned out y/n's brother was a sweet and empathetic guy who supported her views and opinions. He was the only one in their house who gave her the respect she deserved. Like any other member of their patriarchal family, he was afraid to speak for his sister. But not anymore.
