'Be careful, not everyone is your friend'

Om and Gauri started to walk into the mansion. Om slipped his hand in his pocket and got out his key.

The Oberois were back from Ajay's last rites and they saw the door being opened to reveal Om and Gauri who had mud on their clothes and though their clothes had dried, you could still tell that they had been drenched.

Tej looked at his son angrily and went up to him. No one could have prepared Om for Tej slapping him. Tej slapped his son, making everyone around him shocked. Om looked at his father, confused since he had no idea what he had done to get slapped by his father.

Tej: you have only been married for two days and already you prioritise your wife over your family and friends.

Om: what do you mean?

Tej: mum, your favourite is acting so innocent, he doesn't even know what he has done! You, Omkara, have just come home right now! Did you forgot that we were in that forest to find Ajay but you decided that you rather romance your wife than help your family!

Om: dad, I wasn't romancing Gauri, we were both finding Ajay.

Gauri: exactly and then we fell off a cliff since mongooses were chasing us.

Tej: you keep quiet!

Gauri looked at Tej angrily whilst Tej looked at Om.

Tej: is this true? You two fell off a cliff?

Om: yes we did.

Dadi: thanks goodness that you two are okay.

Tej: shut up mum!

Om: dad, stop telling the women of this family to shut up.

Tej took a deep breath, trying to get a control over himself so his blood pressure wouldn't rise up. He looked at his son once more and said to him: Ajay is now dead and you should have been present at his funeral. He treated you like a brother and you have always treated him coldly!

Gauri: you're acting as if Ajay is like some God who only did good in the world. He made your son's life a living hell!

She angrily looked at Tej, her eyes focused on his, she was trying to get him under some hypnotising spell but unlike the other humans she had hypnotised, the pupils of Tej's eyes did not go narrow like before.

Tej: keep your mouth shut Gauri! You know nothing.

Om: don't tell my wife to shut up dad and believe it or not, Gauri is right. Ajay made my life a living hell and I can't believe I am saying this but I am so damn grateful that I can tell you the truth now since Ajay is dead!

Tej: Om!

Om: what Om?! Your darling Ajay mistreated me throughout my teens. He was the one who vaped and did drugs and he was the one who kept those things in my schoolbag that day. He bullied me since then, threatened me with your business and got so many people to treat me horribly. I had to keep quiet about it. I couldn't even tell Dadi what was going on. The only person who I could tell and who understood is this woman right here, my wife, who you said knows nothing. She knows more than you do dad. More in the few days that she has been here than you have in all the years I have been alive for.

Umang: my Ajay didn't do drugs nor did he vape.....you're lying Omkara!

Tej: he is obviously lying. He has always been jealous of Ajay.

Om: only because you treated him better than you treated me but I never acted on my jealousy! And of course you think I am lying because I am not that perfect son you wanted but dad....this is the truth and you can ask my close friends who have seen Ajay vape or have seen him do drugs. You know something dad? Ajay's death has lifted this massive weight off my shoulders and now I don't have to carry this burden of Ajay's crap anymore.

Umang didn't believe what he was hearing nor did Tej. Tej looked at the late Ajay's girlfriend Mayil who was sitting next to Dadi. Gauri and Om looked in the same direction as Tej to see Mayil. They had never seen this woman before, who was she and why was Tej looking at her?

Tej: Mayil, you dated Ajay, did he vape or do any of the crap my son claims he did?

Mayil gave a little nod before speaking in a tone to defend herself: but he didn't do it much. He did it when he was stressed. I told him not to but he didn't listen.

Om: now do you believe me that your ladla Ajay did all these bad habits and defamed me?

Tej looked at his son with gritted teeth and anger in his eyes before leaving the living room with Umang. Rudy then went up to Om and Gauri saying: sometimes know Om that family comes before this gold-digger.

Om: Gauri is not a gold-digger. Ishana ran away and Gauri took her place for this family's respect. I don't know why because this family has done nothing but disrespect her since she came here.

Rudy was about to say something when Om left the living room to go upstairs. He looked at Gauri and said in spite: I don't know why he treats you nicely but I know for a fact you told Ishana to leave so you could become this family's bahu.

Gauri: think what you want to think but I didn't tell Ishana to leave. Your darling Ishana was cheating on your brother with someone else.

Jhanvi: as if Ishana would cheat on Om. You are just making this all up because you were so desperate to be an Oberoi bahu. Well guess what? You will never be considered as an Oberoi bahu.

Dadi: she married an Oberoi man therefore she is an Oberoi bahu. Rudra, you need to stop speaking rudely to your bhabhi.

Rudy: she is not my bhabhi!

Dadi: she is and you need to accept that. Jhanvi, you also need to accept the fact that Ishana cheated on Om, Gauri is your bahu and she is Om's wife.

Rudy and Jhanvi didn't say anything. Gauri took the opportunity to just walk away, but her eyes once again caught the sight of Mayli who was listening to the conversation and she was also looking at Gauri.

Mayil in mind: there is something about Gauri....kuch toh hai but what? I can sense that she is not normal.

Gauri in mind: why are my senses telling me that there is something up with Mayil? Is she someone to trust or someone to be aware of?

...

Gauri entered her and Om's room where she could hear Om showering. She decided to take this opportunity to unwrap the cloth from her wound and make this disappear. Before she could make it disappear, Dadi came into the room.

Gauri: Dadi, sab kuch theek hai?

Dadi: you and Om left us so worried. Yaar, promise me that you will never give me a heart attack again.

Gauri: I won't Dadi. Promise.

Dadi: hey bhagwan! What happened to your arm?

She asked seeing the mongoose mark on Gauri's arm.

Gauri: voh a mongoose jumped on me and scratched my arm in the progress. Omkaraji wrapped a cloth around it and I was just about to treat it.

Dadi: let me do it then. We don't want it to get infected.

Gauri was about to say something when Dadi got the first aid kit Om kept in a corner of his room and made Gauri sit down on the bed. She then started to aid Gauri's wound. Though Gauri disliked humans since they killed her sister and stole the Naagmani, the elderly lady who was aiding her wound and her husband were both lovely. They weren't bitter nor did they try to hurt her in any way. Maybe some humans were nice after all...

Dadi: now I am just going to go and check on Mayil. Bechari. When I took her to one of the guest rooms, she broke down crying.

Gauri: so she was Ajay's girlfriend?

Dadi: ji haan. I don't know why he kept her away from us but what he did to Om is unforgivable.

Gauri in mind: that's one of the reasons why I killed him, Dadi.

Dadi: accha I am done treating this wound. Now I will check on Mayil.

Gauri: theek hai. Thank you for treating my wound.

Dadi: it's no problem puttar.

She got up to leave. Before she left, she kept the first aid kit back where it was earlier then Dadi went out of the room. The moment Dadi left the room, Om came out wearing his jeans but he was shirtless.

Gauri looked at the shirtless Greek God in front of her and unsanskaari thoughts started to fill her mind once more. God sake. She had only been married for two days and already her mind was getting cluttered with unsanskaari thoughts after seeing Om shirtless twice.

Om: Gauri!

Gauri snapped out of whatever world she was in and saw her husband in front of her, wearing a shirt. She was a bit annoyed that he had to wear a shirt since she was still busy admiring him.

Gauri: ji?

Om: you can have the shower now.

Gauri: oh accha. Thanks.

Om gave a small smile and Gauri went to the cupboard to take one towel then to the pile of sarees on the bed. She picked up one sari and made a mental note to herself to keep the sarees in the cupboard but Om had already decided to keep the sarees in the cupboard.

Om: before you go in the shower, let me aid your wound.

Gauri: no need. Voh Dadi came here earlier and she sorted out the wound. I'll just go and have a shower now.

Om: theek hai. Also just one more thing Gauri.

Gauri: ji bolo.

Om: I am once again sorry for what Rudy said about you. I am going to talk to him right now.

Gauri: theek hai and Omkaraji, I don't take Rudra's words to heart. I know that he is upset with me because I was the reason why you slapped him.

Om: he was badmouthing you and I couldn't stand that for some reason.

Gauri: but I am not someone special that you had to slap him.

Om: I'm going to have a proper conversation with him and I will give him a proper apology.

Gauri: and promise him that you will never slap him again.

Om: and I will promise him that I won't slap him again.

Gauri: good, also are you okay because your dad...

Om knew what she wanted to ask and he answered her incomplete question with: I'm fine. It just kinda sucks because my dad slapped me for someone who isn't even related to him.

Gauri: at least you stood up to him today. Did it feel good standing up to your dad for once?

Om: it did to be honest. Between us, I did feel scared because no one ever stands up to my dad.

Gauri: how come?

Om: they're scared of him but you weren't scared to stand up to him when you wanted to defend me so thanks.

Gauri: your welcome. Now go talk to Rudra, I need to get rid of all this mud on me.

Om nodded and left the room. Gauri gave a small smile before going into the bathroom. She turned the shower on and as she allowed the shower water to rain on her, she ran her hand through her wound, making it disappear. Once the wound had disappeared, Gauri allowed herself to think.

She had gotten rid of Ajay which was good for her and her husband because Om no longer had that massive secret weighing him down. She had managed to get rid of two murderers already. She just had four more murderers left...once she killed the next four murderers and found the Naagmani, she could finally leave this human world and become Naagrani of the Suryavanshi Kingdom.

But a part of her didn't want to become the Naagrani...she didn't want to have this huge responsibility of being the queen of the Suryavanshi Kingdom put on her. All her life, she grew up knowing that she wouldn't be queen and she was fine with that. She never felt jealous knowing that she wouldn't be queen. She couldn't imagine herself as a Naagrani but now, there was all this pressure on her....to get justice for the late Naagrani and to find the Naagmani as the Naagmani was needed for her people's survival and livelihood. If she already felt this much pressure before being a queen, how much pressure would she feel when she became queen?

...

Om: can we talk?

He said as he stood outside Rudy's room. Rudy was on his bed, texting someone on his phone. Rudy sighed, keeping his phone down before looking at his brother.

Rudy: shouldn't you be with your wife, romancing her like you did in the forest?

Om rolled his eyes as he walked into his brother's room, saying: we weren't romancing, we got trapped by mongooses and then we fell off a cliff.

Rudy: wow you should send that story to a production company, surely they will love to make a movie about it.

Om knew his younger brother was being sarcastic. He sat down next to Rudy on his bed and said: bro, it really happened. I nearly drowned but the woman who you insult so much....she saved me from drowning.

Rudy: at least she didn't leave you to die.

Om: yeah she didn't and I am grateful to Gauri for saving me back there. Now tell me, why don't you like her?

Rudy: I just don't. I get this really bad feeling whenever she is around. I have this gut feeling that she is not a normal person and she is not here for good, she has to have some bad intentions.

Om: what crap have you been watching on TV?

Rudy: I mean it, I feel this weird gut feeling about Gauri.

Om: get rid of this gut feeling...I can tell that she is a good person, she doesn't have any bad intentions. If she had bad intentions, would she have saved me from drowning?

Rudy: you have a point...

Om: anyway I'm here because I'm sorry for slapping you on my wedding. I know I shouldn't have slapped you.

Rudy: I guess I was wrong on my part, I shouldn't have badmouthed Gauri. But I am not giving her the rights of being my Bhabhi and this house ka bahu.

Om: Rudy...

Rudy: I can't bro. For me, Ishana is your wife.

Om: but Ishana cheated.

Rudy: well we don't know that for sure.

Om: you read that note and now that I am thinking about it, the signs were right in front of me I just chose to ignore it.

Rudy: now that you have said sorry, please go, I am getting a call.

Om: fine but I promise you bro that I will never raise my hand on you again.

Rudy: you better keep that promise.

Om: I will.

They both gave a small smile to each other before Rudy signed Om to go. Om went and Rudy picked up his phone. As he spoke to the person on the phone, he thought about what Om had said to him....even though Om had said sorry to him, he was not going to give Gauri any respect or rights as his Bhabhi. She was simply that lowlife servant to him.

Gauri turned the shower off and dried herself before wearing a fresh clean sari that was baby pink in colour. As she patted her hair with the towel, her mind brought back the conversation she had with Om earlier....she asked him not to ever slap Rudy again and to promise her......she felt like she had a conversation like that before. When she was younger...

Boy: I had a fight with a classmate today.

He said to a little Gauri. The two were sitting on a tree branch during the evening time in the forest. The little boy was in his school uniform and he had some marks on his arm. Gauri had made a haldi paste and was applying it to his wounds, knowing she would make them disappear when he wasn't looking.

Gauri: why did you have a fight with a classmate?

Boy: I was with my brother and I told him about you kinda and some boy heard and laughed saying that you were fake, I am making this all up and I got angry so I pushed him because he was making fun of you saying you were fake and even if you was real, then you was an idiot.

Gauri: but I am not someone special that you had to push him.

Boy: you are my special friend. You are always nice to me, you are never horrible and you are a fun person to be around.

Gauri: awwww, I know.

She said flicking her hair, making the two little kids giggle.

Gauri: you are also my special friend and if we are special friends, then you have to make me a promise.

Boy: what promise?

Gauri: promise me that you will never fight with someone again because fighting is not good.

Boy: hmmmm okay I won't.

Gauri smiled as when the boy looked away, she quickly ran her hand through the marks, making them disappear.

Boy: you are my best friend.

Gauri: and you are my best friend.

Gauri was confused...why did her mind just make up once again another scenario that never happened in her life? Ever since she came into this human world - well ever since she met Om, her mind had just started to make up these random scenarios that never happened in her childhood....she was sure that she never met a young human boy in the forest growing up.

Her mind started to play with her once again and show her multiple made up scenarios of the little boy and little Gauri. The more scenarios she saw, the more painful her headache became. Gauri suddenly took on a pale look, as if she'd been painted with white-wash - even her lips were barely there. Then with one step backwards she crumpled like a puppet suddenly released of their strings.

Om came back into their room. He was about to open up a file when he noticed that the bathroom door was still locked.

Om: the shower is no longer running...Gauri?

He heard no response from her and he knocked on the door.

Om: Gauri?

He knocked on the door again and called her name once more but she didn't respond. He was feeling panic for some reason and worry. Why was he suddenly feeling worried for Gauri? He called her name once more and he didn't once again get a response. It was at that moment Mayil came. She was walking in the hallway since she got bored of staying in the guest room.

Mayil: kya hua ji?

She asked as she went in Om and Gauri's room.

Om: voh Mayil, I haven't seen Gauri around the mansion and when I came back here, the door is still locked but the shower isn't running nor is Gauri giving any response.

Mayil: Gauri? Is she your wife?

Om nodded.

Mayil: maybe break the door.

Om nodded and pushed his weight against the door, opening the door and he found Gauri on the floor with her eyes closed. He rushed to Gauri's side and lifted her up in bridal style. Mayil saw the scene in front of her and her eyes once again went on Gauri in Om's arms.

Mayil in mind: this Gauri...why do I feel that she is not a normal human being like me?

Om: Mayil?

Mayil: ji bolo.

Om: ask someone to quickly call a doctor.

Mayil nodded and decided to go to Dadi since the elderly woman seemed to be one of the only people in the mansion who would care about Gauri being found unconscious. She left the room and Om kept his wife on the bed.

Om began to rub her palm and patted her cheeks, asking her to wake up. Well....pretty much begging her to wake up. When rubbing her palm and patting at her cheeks did not work, he got a water bottle and poured a little amount of water on his hand before sprinkling it on Gauri in an attempt to wake her up.

Gauri fluttered her eyes open to find herself no longer on the hard polished bathroom floor but instead she was on the bed with Om by her side. She noticed how his worried face suddenly turned to a face of relief but there was still some worry.

Om: thanks goodness you are awake.

Gauri: what happened?

Om was about to speak when Dadi came with Mayil.

Dadi: the doctor is about to come. Gauri, thanks goodness you are conscious now. Mayil told me that you were unconscious earlier.

Gauri: but what happened? Why did I faint?

She tried sitting up but Om made her lie down, saying: don't get up or anything. You clearly need to rest, especially with the kind of day we had. The doctor is coming soon and afterwards, you are going to rest.

Gauri was about to say something when Dadi spoke in support of Om.

Dadi: Om is right, you should rest.

Voice: why the hell is a doctor here?

Everyone looked to see Jhanvi and the doctor. Jhanvi was confused and like always, snappy whilst the doctor looked as if he just wanted to check how the patient was and then disappear from the Oberoi Mansion.

Om: mum, Gauri fainted earlier so Dadi called a doctor to check on her.

Jhanvi: Gauri isn't that important that you need to call a doctor to see how she is! If she fainted, whatever! Who cares?

Om: I care. I care if my wife fainted or if she is sick or something like that.

Doctor: maybe I should...

Jhanvi interrupting: she's only been your wife for two days and already she managed to replace Ishana's value in your life.

Om: if you think I am over Ishana then you are wrong! I can't just forget a high school relationship in just 2 days but...I care for Gauri, she has been nothing but nice to me and our family and I married Gauri therefore she is my wife!

Jhanvi was about to speak when the doctor finally managed to get some words in: look, please have your family drama later. I need to check the patient to make sure that she is fine.

Jhanvi didn't say anything. She decided to leave. The doctor went to check on Gauri but first he told Om, Dadi and Mayil to leave the room. Om was hesitant to leave Gauri but she signed him that she was fine and he shouldn't worry. Om got up and the three went outside the room for a couple of minutes.

Shivay: why is everyone outside?

He asked as he was walking in the hallway and happened to find the three outside Om's room.

Om: voh Gauri fainted earlier so a doctor has just come to check on her.

Shivay: is she okay?

Om: she's conscious now, hopefully she is fine.

Shivay decided to wait with Om, Dadi and Mayil. Soon the doctor opened the door and said: patient is fine. I don't know why she fainted though. She shows no sign of pregnancy and just to confirm, she is not pregnant. She doesn't seem to have low blood pressure or anything along those lines. So I don't know why she fainted.

Om: maybe she had a long day.

Doctor: that could be the reason. Just make sure she rests and doesn't take any stress.

Om nodded and Shivay escorted the doctor out. Mayil decided to leave and Dadi looked at her grandson.

Dadi: I am going to take some medicine for my leg pain. You make sure that Gauri doesn't get up at all and that she gets rest.

Om nodded once more and Dadi went to her room. Om went back in his and Gauri's room where Gauri was lying down.

Om: do you need anything?

He asked politely. Gauri looked at her husband and was about to sit up once again when Om signed her to lay back now. Gauri made a face but then laid down.

Gauri: please may I have some of that headache medicine?

Om: paracetamol?

Gauri: haan that.

Om: yeah sure.

He picked up a paracetamol and gave it to her and then poured her a glass of water. Gauri smiled and sat up a little just so she could have the water and medicine. Once she got the medicine, she laid down again.

Om: if you need anything, just give me a shout. I am going to go to the study to sort some work out.

He went to pick up his laptop and a file. When he picked up the two things he needed, Gauri asked him: you also had a long day, you need to rest too.

Om smiled and said: I know but I have work to do.

Gauri was about to say something when Om spoke again: I'm not going to take long. Just half an hour. I need to go over some stuff with Shivay but then I will come back and rest. You won't be alone for long.

Gauri: how did you know I was going to ask you to stay here with me and rest, because I don't want to be alone?

Om: pata nahi. I guess I can read minds.

The two chuckled and then Om left the room smiling at Gauri and Gauri smiled back at him. When he left, Gauri started thinking about the reason why she fainted. She knew why she fainted and knew she had to ask someone from Naaglok about what was going on.

Gauri in mind: tonight I am coming to Shivji's temple. I have to ask you something. I might come a little late, depends but just stay at the temple, okay?

The voice in her head spoke back with an "okay". Gauri hoped that late at night, she could escape the mansion that she did yesterday night to meet someone at the temple.

Voice: may I come in?

Gauri turned her head to see Mayil there holding a glass of what looked like kadha. Gauri nodded and Mayil came in.

Mayil: I made you some kadha because you fainted earlier.

Gauri: oh thank you Mayil.

Mayil: your welcome Gauri.

Gauri out of politeness: ji Mayil, I am sorry for your loss.

Mayil: I was soon going to wed Ajay and now I can't.

Mayil allowed some tears to roll down her eyes. Gauri felt a little bad. Well she didn't feel bad that she killed Ajay. She felt bad because Mayil had just faced a loss like she did days ago.

Mayil: but thankfully this Oberoi family was nice enough to let me stay a couple of days. I can only hope that Ajay lives peacefully in heaven.

Gauri: haan we can only hope. If you need anything or someone to talk to, I'm here.

Mayil: thank you. You are very kind. I don't know why your mother-in-law and brother-in-law treat you like junk.

Gauri didn't say anything. She just didn't know what to say in response to what Mayil said. Mayil noticed Gauri nearly zoning out so she decided to snap her out from zoning out.

Mayil: Gauri?

Gauri: hmm ji?

Mayil: you nearly zoned out. Anyway I will leave so you can rest but have your kadha.

Gauri nodded and she sat up a little bit so Mayil could hand her the glass of kadha. Mayil's hand brushed Gauri's and Gauri felt her eyes about to turn amber so she closed her eyes quickly. Mayil's eyes turned a bright purple when Gauri's eyes turned amber. Her eyes turned back to her normal dark brown eye colour when Gauri opened her eyes.

Mayil: are you okay?

Gauri: ji haan, aap?

Mayil nodded and excused herself to leave. When she left, Gauri started to think to herself...

Gauri in mind: I hope Mayil didn't see my eyes turning amber. But why were my eyes about to turn amber? Can Mayil be trusted?

Mayil was walking back into her room....unknown to Gauri, Mayil did get a glimpse of Gauri's eyes turning amber.

Mayil: I knew it....she is definitely not normal.

She had to keep a closer eye on Gauri. She had her doubts about Gauri....

And Gauri was starting to have doubts regarding Mayil.
