Episode 10
'Don't forget why you are here'
The priest started to say the prayers in Sanskrit as Gauri and Om were told to fold their hands. Whilst the prayers were being chanted, Gauri's heart started to beat fast. She normally didn't feel nervous so why was she feeling so nervous during this shaadi?
Once the priest stopped chanting the first set of prayers, it was announced that the bride and groom were now to exchange garlands. Gauri and Om were made to stand up and Shwetaji brought the two garlands of dark red and Snow White flowers. Om kept the garland on Gauri and then Gauri took the garland to keep it over Om. She went on her tip-toes to keep the garland on Om. As she kept the garland over Om....
Rudy whispering to Anika: did Ishu get shorter?
Anika whispered back: pata nahi.
Rudy whispering: it looks like it.
Anika whispering: true....
Whilst they were wondering about Ishana's height, Pakhi went up to Aditi saying: well Miss Katrina Kaif is nowhere to be found.
Aditi: what? Really? Where did she even go?
Pakhi: I have no idea. Did she decide to run away from this job?
Aditi: at least we don't have to deal with any of her mistakes.
Pakhi nodded in agreement as she and her friend both watched the wedding of Om and his bride Ishana....
But little did they know was that the bride was not Ishana....
Priest: now it is time for the pheras but before we begin, may someone from the bride's family come and tie the groom's scarf and bride's sari together?
Nia, Ishana's mother, stepped forward to tie her daughter's sari and her soon to be son-in-law's scarf. Once she tied the knot, she smiled at the bride before going.
Priest: now before you take the rounds, Ishana, please keep your hand in Omkara's.
Hesitantly Gauri extended out her hand and kept it in Om's. As she kept her hand in his, Om felt a bit weird. He didn't know why he felt a bit weird, why he felt butterflies flying freely in his stomach. He had held Ishana's hand before and he never felt this way before.
Om and Gauri started to walk with Om leading the first three rounds before it was the bride's turn to lead the remaining four. Their families and guests threw flowers on them as they waked. As Om made his promises, Gauri didn't know what to promise. She didn't know what to promise Om. Maybe that she wouldn't cheat on him like Ishana did. To respect him. To not treat him the way Ishana treated him. To not be the brat Ishana was.
Gauri stumbled a little during walking and Om held her by the arms, helping her to stay on her feet.
Tej: Ishana, are you okay?
Dadi: I told you, it's bridal nerves. Every bride gets nervous during their marriage.
Gauri breathed in and then out as she continued to walk for the vows. Four rounds later, they were told to sit down and then Om was given the mangalsutra to keep around his bride's neck. Without the need of lifting the veil, he kept the nuptial necklace around Gauri's neck, the tips of his fingers touching her neck.
Once the mangalsutra was on her, the priest spoke once more: and now, for the marriage to be completed, Omkara must lift the bride's veil and keep the sindoor on her maag.
Gauri's eyes widened under her veil when she heard what the priest said. She knew she would have to tell Om the truth that she was the one who he married but she wasn't prepared for the family's reaction.
Dadi: are we sure that we need to lift the veil?
Jhanvi: it's tradition.
Dadi: but we can forget tradition for once.
Tej: mum, it's time for the veil to be lifted. Why are you acting so paranoid?
Dadi just sighed. The matter was beyond her control. She couldn't convince anyone not to lift the bride's veil.
Her heart and Gauri's heart were both beating fast as Om slowly lifted up the veil to reveal the bride's face....
Jhanvi: Gauri?
Rudy: Gauri?
Shivay and Anika in unison: Gauri?!
Pakhi and Aditi in unison: Miss Katrina Kaif?!
Tej: the new servant girl?
Om: Gauri....
Nia: why is this servant girl in my Ishana's position as bride?
She went up to the mandap and made Gauri stand up as she said: did you kidnap my Ishana so you could be an Oberoi bride? Of course you did! After all poor girls like you will do anything to become rich.
Jhanvi: did you take up this job offer only to become an Oberoi bahu?
Gauri in mind: no for revenge but I can't say that.
Jhanvi: why aren't you saying anything? Speak!
Dadi: I asked Gauri to take Ishana's place.
Jhanvi and Tej: what?
Shivay and Anika: kya?!
Pakhi and Aditi: why her?
Rudy: and the plot seems to have thickened!
Nia: why did you ask this servant to take my daughter's place?!
Dadi: because your daughter ran away with her lover!
A heavy silence settled over them, thicker then the uneasy tension in the atmosphere. Unsettled eyes glanced unceremoniously around and tried to avoid catching other glances that passed by.
Dadi: and if you don't believe me, then guess what? I brought the letter with me that Gauri found in Ishana's room.
She brought out the letter that she had snuck with her in case of a moment like this. She showed Nia, Akash, Jhanvi and Tej the letter that Ishana had left. Once they had read it, Rudy took it to read it and thenOm took the letter from his brother so he could read the letter for himself. He was mentally convincing himself early that it wasn't Ishana who had wrote the letter but once he got the letter, he saw that it was indeed Ishana who had wrote the letter. The letter fell from his hands and into the auspicious fire, the flames devoured the single piece of paper that had brought shock and confusion to so many.
Rudy: I bet you this woman, this servant girl was the one who managed to master Ishana's handwriting in this letter. I bet you that Ishana was blackmailed into leaving by this woman!
Gauri: why would I do such a thing? I saw this letter when I entered Ishana's room.
Rudy: I am fully convinced that you blackmailed Ishana into leaving and you was the one who wrote that letter!
Gauri was about to say something when Rudy spoke over her: I still have more to say. I know that there is something up with you. Ever since you entered our lives, I have had this strange gut feeling about you. I always feel that this woman, this new servant girl mum hired is not what she seems to be. She is strange, she is up to something and I am fully convinced that you are not even human. I threw garlic on you that day to see if you were a vampire and you're not but I know. I know for a fact that you are not a human at all or that you are not a human. Also I saw you today when we were all in white mourning for Arjun. I saw that your sad face was fake. You didn't feel sad that he died and I bet you, I bet that you was the one who killed Arjun.
Gauri felt herself getting angry, she couldn't get angry else everyone would know her truth. She could feel her eyes burning and she knew that they would turn bright amber anytime soon so she just took a deep breath as Om yelled out angrily: RUDRA!
He stood in front of Gauri before slapping his brother leaving everyone in shock once more. The loud clap had silenced everyone before Om began to speak to his brother.
Om: just because Gauri is keeping quiet does not mean that you can constantly keep talking nonsense about her. I told you once that Gauri is a human, these thoughts are stupid and you should forget about them. Also in what world do you think that Arjun was killed by Gauri? That is the most stupidest thing I have ever heard. You can't go ahead accusing her without any proof! From today, you have to talk to her with respect because from today, she is your Bhabhi!
Rudy looked at his brother as Om dipped his thumb in the pot of vermillion before making Gauri look at him. Before he applied the red powder on her maag, Jhanvi said: don't you dare put the sindoor on that girl!
Om didn't listen to his mother and he kept sindoor in Gauri's maag.
Once he kept the red powder on Gauri's maag, he turned to everyone to announce: now she is my wife.
Dadi smiled hearing that announcement from Om and she was the only one smiling since there were many trying to adjust to the sudden shock whilst the others like Jhanvi and Tej were simply disappointed that a rich boy like Om had just married a poor servant girl like Gauri in front of their eyes.
Nia: what I don't get is that Dadi, why did you select this girl to marry Omkara? Why not a rich girl?
Dadi: because I felt that Gauri is the only girl I trust with Om. He is comfortable around her and she seems comfortable around him. Waise bhi I never liked your Ishana so I am happy that she eloped so Om could marry someone who is actually worthy. This is destiny, you can't change destiny. This marriage was written in the stars by Lord Shivji himself and if this is what the Lord wants, then who are we to argue with his decision?
Nia just looked at Dadi before turning to Akash, saying aloud: let's go Akash, this is too much of an insult for us.
She grabbed Akash's arm and they walked away from the wedding, leaving the house. Om and Gauri went to Dadi to take her blessings and Dadi blessed them happily so. The newly wedded couple went up to Jhanvi and Tej and bent down for their blessings. Jhanvi refused to bless the couple so Tej blessed the couple just for the sake of it. They then went to Shivay and Anika to take their blessings. Shivay gave the couple his blessings willingly since secretly he was also not a big fan of Ishana whilst Anika gave her blessings just for the sake of it. The couple then went to Rudy and all Rudy said was: no one takes a younger's blessing so just leave me.
Once they took everyone's blessings, it was time for the guests to leave. As they were leaving, Dadi went up to Gauri and Om to say: you know Gauri, I feel like you came here for a reason.
Gauri in mind: you're right, I came to kill my enemies and take revenge of Shivali didi's death.
She only smiled at Dadi as the guests continued to leave. Once they left, Jhanvi, Tej, Anika and Rudy all went to their rooms leaving Shivay.
Shivay: congratulations for your wedding Om.
Om: at least someone is on board with Gauri being my bride.
Shivay: don't worry, I will talk to Anika and Rudy will hopefully chill in a few days. Don't know about mum and dad though.
Dadi: leave them. I will sort those two idiots out. Now you go and check on your angry wife.
Shivay nodded but before he went upstairs, he said to Gauri: don't worry about what others will say. Also thank you for getting the place as the bride. Not many girls would do such a thing, they would leave us humiliated but you made sure that a wedding happened.
Gauri gave him a smile as Shivay went upstairs.
Dadi: now you two go to Om's room. The room has already been decorated.
The couple smiled as they went upstairs with Dadi. Dadi went in her room whilst Om and Gauri went in Om's room. They saw that the room had already been decorated with red roses. Gauri looked around and thought to herself: this is not for me and Om. This is for Ishana and Om.
Om: thank you for what you did. I never thought Ishana would do such a thing. You can have the bed and I will sleep on the sofa.
Gauri: nahi, I will sleep on the sofa and you can sleep on the bed. Omkara....I need to tell you something.
Om: tell me.
Gauri knew that she probably shouldn't have told Om but she thought that it was ideal to tell him. At least she would have one secret off her chest.
Gauri: I knew about Ishana and Abhay....
Om was quiet for a minute before saying: kya? Kaise? Kab?
Gauri: I found out in the haldi function. Abhay managed to sneak in and he and Ishana were talking about Paris where she would leave you for him.
Om: why didn't you tell me?
Gauri: Ishana told me not to but I was going to till Ishana made the point that you wouldn't believe me and I knew she was right because Omkara, you were blindly in love with her that you wouldn't believe me at all, you'd be hurt and I didn't want to see you hurt.
Om: oh so you think that I am not hurt right now? I am hurt, I am obviously hurt by her betrayal but you could have told you.
Gauri: would you believe me though?
Om knew that she had a point. If someone had told him before that Ishana was cheating on him, he wouldn't believe them at all.
Om: it would have still been nice if you told me that she was cheating. I told you a lot, I even slapped my own brother and you couldn't even tell me this till now!
Gauri looked at Om as he breathed in and out then he said: in six months, if you are not happy, you can divorce me.
With that said, he walked past her, Gauri turned as he walked past her.
He laid on the sofa and stayed lying there, quiet, not talking at all. Gauri wanted to say something but it was maybe for the best if she left him alone for a while to think.
It was very late at night now. Gauri was on the bed, still in her bridal lehenga. She turned to see Om on the sofa.
Gauri: Omkara?
Not a word peeped from his mouth. He was probably asleep now. She got up from the bed and looked outside from the window. She saw the woods near the mansion. A nice walk in a woods was maybe what she needed to think about the wedding and to think about her revenge. She changed into her snake form before exiting the room via the door and then she managed to leave the house though what was meant to be a mouse hole. She slithered into the woods then changed to her normal form. Well her normal form as Gauri, not as Devi. She walked in the woods, it was dark but she could still see the beauty of the woods
The leaves scudded over the ground and took small flights into the air. As she tossed her head back and raised her eyes to the sky, she gave a small smile. She missed being in the jungle and the woods. She had missed seeing the woodland. The branches swayed like the arms of a soccer crowd and in their chaotic dance they were hypnotically beautiful. When she was little, she used to walk in the woods and what she used to do was keep her arms out wide, fingers spread and twirl around. Gauri saw little her in front of her eyes twirling around right now and she smiled before she heard a snake hissing and slithering. The snake came in front of her and flash!
Gauri: Kirati?
Kirati: hi Devi.
Gauri: in the human world, I am Gauri not Devi.
Kirati: fine, hi Gauri.
Gauri: what are you doing here Kirati? Shouldn't you be in our kingdom?
Kirati: I thought to see how you was and my naagin senses sensed that you would be here in the woods. Waise why are you in a bridal outfit and have you got our stone yet?
Gauri: I haven't got the stone yet and I am now a wife to a human.
Kirati: what? You haven't got our stone but you went ahead to marry a human?! Kya baat hai! Well done! Please tell me that you have at least killed our sister's murderers.
Gauri: one down, five to go.
Kirati: great. Now hurry up with whatever you are doing and leave that stupid man you married, maybe kill him.
Gauri: why would I kill him? He is a sweet man and I am only here in this wretched human world to kill Shivali didi's murderers, not to kill Omkara.
Kirati: oh Omkara, Omkara jeej, that's what I will call him. Look Gauri, humans don't deserve to live at all. They deserve to die. All of them but fine, do things your way. Just bring our stone back and bring our sister justice else I will take things in my own hands.
Gauri looked at her twin whilst Kirati looked at hers with a smirk.
Gauri: I can do things by myself thank you Kirati. You don't have to intervene.
Kirati: we'll see.
She smirked at her twin whilst Gauri rolled her eyes. If Kirati intervened, things would get very messy.
Precap: day one of being an Oberoi bahu
How was this guys? Sorry for a boring update, I am really tired and my puppy wants me to walk him so I am signing off in a couple of minutes to walk that puppy in the freezing cold. If I die of hyperthermia, we blame the puppy.
