Zindagi leke aayi hai... beete dinon ki kitaab
Title is the song 'Tere liye' from movie 'Veer Zara'
When Preeti and Rohan arrived on Wednesday, she was aghast to know of Naina's state. Her answer as to why they were not informed infuriated her.
"Itni badi baat ho gayi aur tune socha Preeti ko batane se woh disturb hogi?" She alleged, "Yeh nahi socha jab mujhe pata chalega toh mujhe kaisa feel hoga?"
Rohan was equally annoyed, "Bhabhi, this is not done." He turned to Sameer, "Sab kuch chupa ke hi rakhna hai kya bhai? Shaadi ki tab nahi bataya lekin aise time pe toh share karna chahiye na. Agar dukh mein family saath nahi rahegi toh kaun hoga... ya phir aapko ab kisi ki zarurat hi nahi."
Sameer looped one arm around his shoulder, which Rohan shirked away. Sameer raised his hands in resignation, "Okay sorry. Meri galti hai. Actually pehle din toh main itna ghabra gaya tha ki kuch samajh hi nahi aaya. Lekin jab Naina ko hosh aa gaya aur doctor ne kaha ab usse koi danger nahi hai toh maine socha tumhare liye yeh jaanke bhi wapas na aa paana aur zyada tormenting hoga. Ab flights hi nahi thi toh kaise aate na."
"Hum kaise bhi aate... udd ke, chal ke ya... ya road se... woh aapki problem nahi thi." Rohan fumed.
"Exactly." Sameer placed a hand on his shoulder, "Mujhe pata tha tu koi alternative dhoondega. Rohan, road se aate toh tum dono journey se pareshan bhi hote aur jaldi se jaldi kal sham tak pohonch paate, aaj subah ki jagah. Kitna sa farq pada."
Preeti glared at him, "Sameer, humein kya karna hai woh hum khud sochte. Tumhari duty thi sirf humein inform karna."
Naina spoke up in Sameer's support, trying to pacify her, "Preeti sab toh theek hai na. Sirf rest karne ko kaha doctor ne. Aisa thodi hai ki mujhe kuch..."
"Shut up." Preeti said through clenched teeth, "Aisa bolna bhi mat. Tujhe kuch nahi hoga."
And she took Naina in a tight embrace. For once, Sameer didn't fret over it. She knew what it meant to Preeti. He looked at Rohan, who probably was thinking the same, as his eyes were damp too.
With a regretful exhale, Sameer held his ears, "I'm sorry. Maine realise nahi kiya main galti kar raha hun." Still holding his ears, he went to Preeti and kneeled beside her, "Sorry Preeti. Please maaf kar do... please... please."
She left Naina and stared at him silently. Few seconds later, a small laugh spurted out of her.
"Kya drama hai tera pati Naina. Gussa bhi nahi hone deta." She poked his forehead, waving her head.
Naina looked at him adoringly.
Sameer circled an arm around Preeti's shoulder and gave her a quick side hug, surprising everyone, even Preeti.
Rohan quipped, "Yeh aap mujhe jalane ki koshish kar rahe the ya Naina ko?"
Sameer gritted his teeth, "Tune phir Naina bola. Bhabhi hai teri."
"Aur aap jo itni der se Preeti Preeti kar rahe ho." Rohan said in the same tone, though his anger was fake.
Sameer tapped Preeti's head, "Behen hai meri... hamesha se."
"Jee nahi." Preeti huffed, "Main toh Naina ki behen hun."
All three laughed as Sameer pouted like a child, but he was happy that Preeti was normal again.
"Ab tum dono bhai yahan se niklo aur humein zara apne patiyon ki burai karne do. Itne dino se nahi ki, pet dard ho gaya." Preeti pointed at the door, speaking in an authoritative voice.
Rohan narrowed his eyes, "Tumne doosri shaadi kar li kya Preeti?"
"What?" She glared at him.
He shrugged, "Kyonki mujh mein toh burai karne jaisa kuch hai hi nahi."
Sameer looked at Naina, his brows raised, "Mujh mein hai kya?"
"Offo." Preeti threw her hands in air, "Kabhi kabhi lagta hai inn dono ko khud se hi shaadi karni chahiye thi. Sabse zyada pyar khud se hi karte hain."
Before they could think of some smart response, she ushered both of them out and shut the door.
"Naina, sach bata, tu theek hai na." Settling in front of her on the bed, she looked at her keenly.
"Haan baba." Naina smiled, "Bilkul theek hun. Nothing to worry."
Preeti chewed the side of her lip, contemplating something, then asked, "Kuch aur bhi hua hai kya ghar mein?"
"Matlab?" Naina was perplexed.
"Mummy... unka behaviour kuch odd laga mujhe." Preeti said in a low voice, "Jab maine tere baare mein pucha toh aisa laga woh gusse mein hain. Usually jab koi bimar hota hai woh bohot tensed rehti hain, aur care bhi bohot zyada karti hain."
Naina quickly defended Vishakha, "Woh sach mein mera bohot khyal rakh rahi hain Preeti. Diet, medicines, rest... har cheez ki care kar rahi hain."
Preeti waited when she saw the same confusion in Naina's eyes. Lowering her gaze Naina continues in a regretful voice, "Shayad woh gussa hain kyonki maine Sameer ke baare mein aisa socha... matlab... ya shayad unhe bura laga hoga ki main baar baar bimar pad jaati hun..."
"Idiot hai tu." Preeti cut her mid sentence, "Bimar hona khud ke haath mein hota hai kya."
Naina pursed her lips, "Lekin mummy kisi baat se upset toh hain. Maine bhi feel kiya hai. Unhone mujhse ya Sameer se kuch nahi kaha, par unka behaviour caring hote hue bhi pehle jaisa nahi hai."
Preeti pondered for a while, then gave a wide smile, "Chal chod, ab main hun na yahan. Mummy ko bhi manaa lungi aur tujhe bhi do din mein dance karne jitna fit bana dungi."
"Aur do din mein kaunsa dance competition hai jiske liye mujhe fit hona hai?" Naina giggled.
"Achha chal khud mat karna, lekin apne uss henpecked husband ko karana." Preeti winked.
"Haww, Sameer ke liye aise kyon bol rahi hai? Woh koi henpecked nahi hai. He's... he's..." She struggled to find the right word, but there was no word to describe how exceptional he was.
Preeti nudged her arm, "Aye hayee, ab apne 'unn' ki tareef ke liye shabd bhi nahi hain tere paas."
Naina enacted a shy smile, "'Woh' hain hi aise."
Sameer entered the room to find both of them laughing together.
"Mujhe bhi batao kya joke hai." He looked from one to other.
Preeti glanced at Naina, then looked at him, "Uhh... woh Naina keh rahi thi usse aaj bahar jaana hai."
"Why not. Naina, kahan jaane ka dil hai tumhara?" Sameer looked at Naina.
Before she could reply, Preeti drawled, "Actually... usse tumhare saath dance karne ka mann hai."
Naina gave a dismayed look to Preeti.
Sameer blushed visibly, then smiled, "Kaunse song pe?"
Naina facepalmed herself while Preeti went into a fit of laughter.
"Kya hua?" Sameer asked innocently.
Preeti got up and walked towards the door, "Yeh tum apni Naina se pucho."
She stopped at the door, behind Sameer's back, grinned at Naina, crossing two fingers of each hand to make a sign of hashtag and mouthed 'henpecked'. Closing the door, she went down the stairs, to get some water from the kitchen, still laughing.
Vishakha's voice made her stop, "Tumhe kya hua jo akele hi hans rahi ho?"
There was no one in the kitchen except the two of them. Vishakha was apparently preparing something.
Preeti smiled, "Mujhe kya hoga mummy. Main toh aapke bete pe hans rahi hun. Ekdum joru ka ghulam. Maine toh uske liye hashtag henpecked decide kar liya hai."
A small smile bloomed on Vishakha's face, "Achha toh isliye khush ho. Rohan ka toh mujhe pehle hi pata tha... ki jis din koi ladki iski zindagi mein ayegi ussi din se yeh pakka joru ka ghulam ban jayega."
"Main Rohan ki nahi Sameer ki baat kar rahi hun." Preeti clarified.
Vishakha's smile faded, "Hmm. Sameer ne hum sabko jo jhatka diya maine kabhi usse expect nahi kiya tha."
"Jhatka?" Preeti stopped pouring water in the glass.
Vishakha looked at her, "Kyon, Sameer ki Naina se shaadi jhatka nahi thi?"
"Oh haan." Preeti eased, "Lekin woh baat aap ab kyon kar rahi hain? Jo hua, jaise hua, kya farq padta hai. Ab toh dono ki shaadi aapke saamne ho gayi hai na, aur sab log khush hain."
"Padne ko bohot farq pad sakta hai Preeti." Vishakha gave her a solemn look, then turned her attention to the liquid she was stirring, "Aakhir Naina ke baare mein humein pata hi kya hai bas wohi jo Sameer ne bataya. Woh kitna sach hai poori baat kya hai humein kuch bhi nahi pata."
Preeti put away the glass and came to her, "Mummy, aapko kis baat ki tension hai? Naina ke behosh hone ka reason aap samajh sakti hain na? Kisi ke liye bhi aisi situation life mein dubara face karna aasan nahi hoga. Uska darr, uske thoughts, uska reaction... it was all natural. Shukr hai ab woh theek hai. In fact, iss incident ki wajah se woh aur strong ho gayi hai."
Vishakha poured the concoction in a mug, "Naina strong hai yeh mujhe pata hai. Lekin main nahi hun. Mere liye har baat accept kar lena itna natural nahi hai."
Preeti held her shoulders, making her turn to face her, "Aap yeh kaisi baatein kar rahi hain mummy? Naina se kuch problem hai kya aapko? Agar aisa hai toh mujhe bataiye. Main aapki har galatfehmi door karungi. Naina koi apni marzi se thodi bimar padti hai. Kabhi physical, kabhi mental exertion itna ho jaata hai ki uski aisi haalat ho jaati hai."
Vishakha picked up the mug and handed to Preeti, "Ramdhari ko papa ne kuch saaman laane market bheja tha toh maine socha Naina ke liye yeh herbal tea main hi bana dun. Usse bolna garam garam pi le."
With a smile, Preeti took the mug and turned to go. Vishakha's concern had erased the small doubt that was there in her mind. Maybe Naina was right, maybe Vishakha was little upset over her two frequent episodes of health issues.
"Aur haan Preeti, " She stopped at the door, and looked behind, "Naina ko bolna isse pine ke baad mujhse mere room mein aake mile. Kuch baat karni hai... akele."
Naina was alone in her room when Preeti reached. Sameer had gone to the library to attend an online meeting.
"Behen, yeh herbal tea mummy ne banayi hai lekin lagta hai unhe bakra halal karna hi hai." She said with a serious face.
"Huh?" Naina gave her a puzzled look.
"Oh sorry sorry. Bakra nahi bakri." Preeti slapped her forehead.
"Kya bol rahi hai Preeti?" Naina was utterly confused.
Preeti conveyed the message, making Naina tensed. She chewed her lip, "Kuch gadbad hai pakka. Tujhe kya lagta hai, mummy kya bolengi?"
"Chill yaar. Gadbad hoti toh tere liye dus tarah ke phool patte ubaal ke yeh nahi banati." Preeti waved off her apprehensions, "Kuch aur hoga. ya phir koi saas type advice dena hoga... you know, badi bahu and all. Tu aaram se jaa, without tension."
As Preeti waited for Naina to finish her tea, the grin she had forced for her sake vanished. Even she was worried what it was that Vishakha wanted to say. Her talks in kitchen had left Preeti rattled. Was there more to Naina's illness than she was told... but had that been the case, Sameer wouldn't have been so relaxed. No, it was something else.
Little later, she helped Naina down the stairs, as she was still unstable on the stairs. Patting her hand for assurance, she told her not to worry and left.
Naina knocked at Vishakha's door.
"Andar aa jao." Her voice was flat. It didn't give away anything about her state of mind.
Naina slowly pushed the door open and stepped in. Vishakha stood at the window with crossed arms, her back towards the door.
Her stance made Naina's heart fall to the pit of her stomach. There was something in her icy voice that made Naina fear the worst.
Mustering courage, she spoke, "Aapne... aapne bulaya mummy?"
Vishakha said without facing her, "Come in... aur door band kar do."
Her hands trembled as she shut the door.
Vishakha moved away from the window and walked to the seating area, without sparing a glance to Naina, who stood twisting her fingers.
"Come here. Baith ke baat karte hain. Khade rehna tumhe exert kar dega." Vishakha waved at the other chair next to hers.
Naina quietly took the seat.
"Abhi kaisa feel kar rahi ho? Chakkar wagerah abhi bhi aate hain? Weakness kam hui ya nahi?" She asked, looking directly at her.
"Main... main ab better hun mummy. Chakkar bhi kaafi kam ho gaye hain. Aap meri diet ke liye itni careful hain isliye weakness bhi nahi hai." Naina replied with a thankful smile. She was unnecessarily worrying.
"Kabse pata tha tumhe?" Vishakha did not waver her gaze.
"Kya?" Naina was perplexed.
"That you cannot have a child."
Vishakha's voice was even quieter than before... but the sound deafened Naina. Her face turned white. Sweat drops appeared on her forehead.
"Bolo Naina. Sameer aur tumhe kab pata chala?" Vishakha said in a steely voice.
Naina lowered her eyes. her fingers fidgeted with the hem of her tshirt. She kept her lips pressed in a thin line, to prevent their quivering.
Vishakha glared, "Family bolne se family nahi banti. Manna padta hai. Rishte nibhane se rishte hote hain. Agar tum sirf Sameer ko hi..."
"Nahi mummy," Naina looked up, her eyes filled with pain, "Maine dil se aap sabko apni family maana hai. Har rishta mujhe apni jaan se bhi pyara hai."
"Toh phir aisa kyon kiya Naina? Itni badi baat humse kyon chupayi? Maine har faisle mein tum dono ka saath diya, chahe mujhe woh faisla uss waqt galat hi laga ho. Kya mujhe apne bachhon ke baare mein itna bada sach janne ka haq nahi tha? Tumhe ussi waqt mere paas aana chahiye tha jab tumhe pata chala. Kab karaya checkup tumne?" Vishakha asked, her face distorted.
Naina left her tshirt, and linked her fingers in a hard grip, taking a decision.
"Mummy, mujhe yeh baat apne miscarriage ke baad pata chali." She said slowly.
Vishakha's hand flew to her mouth. Her eyes turned wide, "Mis... miscarriage? Kab? Kaise? Mujhe batana chahiye tha na. Aise time pe bohot physical aur emotional stress ho jaata hai. Tum bachhe..." her face hardened suddenly as a thought pricked her mind, "Kya isiliye tumne jaldi mein shaadi ki thi?"
"Yeh shaadi se pehle ki baat hai mummy... jab main eighteen years ki thi." Naina revealed without another thought. She couldn't let such an accusation come to Sameer's name.
Colour drained from Vishakha's face. She just stared at Naina, unable to speak.
Though Sameer had asked her not to mention it, Naina didn't want to hide anything from Vishakha now, whatever the consequences. Neither she wanted to lie. She couldn't live with that burden. Now that a part of truth had been unraveled in front of her, Naina wanted to reveal all about her tainted past.
Slowly, she narrated everything, right from the beginning. Throughout, Vishakha didn't move her gaze from Naina... but her face remained impassive. As Naina relived the horror she and her parents went through, her eyes filled with same haunted look that came with those memories. The guilt in her voice was quite clear. She told everything that she had to face after her parents' accident... the accusations, the forceful suggestions regarding Ayush and her marriage... everything.
"Main nahi chahti thi mummy, ki Ayush uss mahaul mein bada ho. Main khud wahan nahi reh paa rahi thi. Sabke liye Ayush jaise ek kaanta ban gaya tha jise woh raaste se hatana chahte the. Mere tauji lawyer hain, unhone pehle bhi ek baar papa pe attack karwaya tha. Main apne bete ke saath aisa kuch hote hue nahi dekhna chahti thi. Isliye wahan se bhaag aayi, bina kisi ko kuch bataye. Shayad bhaagna galat decision tha, kyonki main galat nahi thi... at least mujhe toh aisa hi lagta hai. Ho sakta hai iski wajah se sabne mere baare mein bohot theories banayi ho, par mujhe Ayush ke alava kisi baat ki parwah nahi thi." Naina's said with a firm, determined voice.
The silence weighed heavy in the room. Vishakha got up and went back to the window, without a word. Unable to read her expressions, Naina got up too, but remained at the same place. She knew what all Vishakha has learned was absolutely unthinkable and maybe unacceptable for a woman from her daughter in law. But she had to tell her. Whatever Vishakha's decision would be, she was aware Sameer would support her. It was his love that had given her the strength to lay bare her ugly past to the only person who hadn't completely accepted her in the family.
When Vishakha turned after what seemed an eternity, her eyes met with Naina, but there wasn't any condemnation in them. She started to speak in a soft voice, "Naina, kisi situation se bhaagna tab tak galat hota hai jab hum usse isliye bhaagte hain kyonki hum sach ko face nahi karna chahte. Woh weakness ki nishaani hai. Lekin agar woh haalaat hi galat hon, toh humein khud ko yeh samjhana chahiye ki hum isse better deserve karte hain. Aisi situation se bhaagna galat nahi hai, kayarta nahi hai... it takes lot of courage to do so. Tumne woh himmat dikhayi, jab tum apna ghar, apna sheher, apne har connection ko tod ke Delhi aayi. Tumne apni bikhri hui, uljhi hui zindagi ko sametne ka hausla dikhaya aur yahan aake ek naye sire se phir se jeena shuru kiya. Jo tumne kiya uske liye guts chahiye hote hain. Ek din achanak woh sab kuch chod dena jo ab tak tumhari poori duniya tha, aasaan nahi hota. Tumhare bachpan ki, mummy papa ki, khushiyon bhare palon ki dheron yaadein rahi hongi wahan... unn sab yaadon se zameen chin jaati hai. Yeh jaante hue bhi ki wapas aane ke raaste ko tum apne haathon se band kar rahi ho, tumne yeh faisla liya. Tum strong ho, bohot strong... jo chup reh kar sehna accept nahi kiya, balki unse bhaag kar ek nayi zindagi shuru ki."
This was the last reaction Naina had expected. Her shock was quite evident on her face. Vishakha walked to her, held her shoulders and made her sit on the chair, taking the opposite one herself. She held Naina's hands, her eyes filled with something which naina couldn't comprehend.
When Vishakha spoke again, her voice was pained, "Main solah saal ki thi. Hamare ek teacher mujhse bohot pyar se baat karte the. Mujhe achha lagta tha, ki main sir ki favourite hun. Lekin jab woh kabhi peeth pe haath pherte, kabhi gaal pe, kabhi mera haath pakad ke kuch karwate, woh achha nahi lagta tha. Par maine socha shayad yeh unka pyar dikhane ka tareeka hai, after all main unke bachhon jaisi thi."
Naina sat with bated breath.
Vishakha swallowed, then continued, "Ek din lab mein unhone mujhe hug kar liya. Maine unhe push kiya toh unhone... unhone kaha ki agar maine unki baat nahi maani toh mujhe fail kar denge. Main ek achii student thi. Lekin iss episode ki wajah se main fail hone ko bhi ready thi. Ghar jaake main bohot roi. Itna dirty feel hua. Main do ghante tak shower mein baithi rahi, paglon ki tarah apni skin ko ragadti rahi. Jab maa ne bathroom ke door pe knock kiya toh meri awaaz se unhe pata chal gaya main ro rahi hun. Maa bimar rehti thi, isliye main unhe kuch bata ke pareshan nahi karna chahti thi. Apne aansu ponch ke main thodi der mein bahar aayi toh woh room mein hi thi."
Vishakha's voice choked. Naina pressed her hand, "Mummy, aapko yeh sab batane ki zarurat nahi hai. You don't need to remember this."
"Zarurat hai." Vishakha said promptly, "Jisse tumhe bhi woh confidence mil sake jo meri maa ne mujhe diya. Unhone mujhe apne paas bithaya aur pucha ki kya hua. Pehle main kehti rahi kuch nahi bas ek dost se jhagda hua hai. Phir unhone meri sleeve upar karke mera haath dekha, jise maine rub karke ghayal kar diya tha. Unhone directly pucha 'kisne tumhare saath aisa karne ki koshish ki'... unhe pata chal gaya Naina. Main khud ko aur nahi rok paayi. Rote rote unhe bataya ki sir ne mujhe hug kiya tha... aur unhone kaha ki mujhe fail kar denge agar maine unhe manaa kiya. Maa ne pyar se mere haathon pe ointment lagayi, phir kaha ki mujhe darne ki koi zarurat nahi hai. Aur na khud ko takleef dene ki. Unhone kaha yeh gandgi uss aadmi ke andar hai, hamare andar nahi, isliye humein uski harkat pe gussa aana chahiye, par guilt nahi mehsoos hona chahiye. Maa ne mujhe samjhaya ki kisi ladki ko jab aisa kuch face karna padta hai toh usse kabhi khud ko dosh nahi dena chahiye, na hi khud ko violated manna chahiye. Galti jisne ki hai, bina hamari marzi ke humein choone ki, woh sazaa ka haqdaar hai. Agle din se woh sir mujhe kabhi school mein nazar nahi aaye. Papa ne unhe arrest karwa diya tha. Maa ki baaton se mere andar ka darr aur guilt khatam ho gaya. Ek ladki hone ke naate humein jo face karna padta hai, woh hamare samaaj ki gandgi hai, hamari galti nahi."
Naina stared at her. What was happening felt unbelievable.
Vishakha placed a hand on Naina's cheek, "Tumhari kya galti thi Naina, kuch nahi. Tum bas ek haadse ka shikaar hui, aur haadsa kisi ke saath bhi ho sakta hai. Kabhi khud ko guilty mat manna. I'm so proud of you, ki tumne koi aisa kadam nahi uthaya jo normally aise cases mein hota hai. Tumne ladne ki himmat rakhi, aage badhne ki himmat rakhi. Mujhe ek hug se itna disgusting laga, tumhe to..." She blinked to clear her eyes of unshed tears, "Naina, jab main pehle tumse milti thi, mujhe hamesha lagta tha tumhari aankhon mein ek khaalipan sa hai. Jab pata chala ki tumhare parents ki death kin circumstances mein hui, mujhe laga shayad uska hi dukh hai. Sach kahun, jab shaadi ki baat pata chali, main tumse naraaz nahi thi, lekin iss baat ka gussa tha ki sab kuch iss tarah kyon hua. Mujhe ek baar laga shayad tumne Sameer ko pressurise kiya... par jab tum yahan aake rehne lagi, aur tumne papa ki dil se seva ki, mujhe thodi tasalli mili. Lekin mujhe aksar feel hota tha ki tum bohot secretive ho. Mujhe darr tha kahin tum... matlab kahin yeh shaadi tumhara koi plan toh nahi. I know bohot stupid thought hai lekin aisa nahi hai ki reality mein hota nahi. Sameer ka pyar dekh ke mujhe darr rehta tha ki agar tum usse chod ke chali gayi toh woh reh nahi payega."
"Mummy, Sameer ko chodne ka toh main sapne mein bhi nahi soch sakti." Ever since their conversation started, first teardrop rolled down Naina's eye, "Main Sameer se... bohot pehle se pyar karti hun, lekin kaha nahi, kyonki mujhe lagta tha woh ek bohot achhi ladki deserve karte hain. Main unki life mein apni complications leke nahi aa sakti thi. Unke upar apne beete hue kal ka, aur Ayush ka bojh nahi daalna chahti thi."
Vishakha smiled, "Ayush bojh thodi hai. Uske aane se hamara ghar khil utha hai. Aur tumhare aane se mere bete ki zindagi. Maine Sameer ko itna khush kabhi nahi dekha."
Naina lowered her head, a blush creeping up on her face.
Vishakha put a finger under her chin and lifted her face, "Main hi pagal thi, jo tumpe shaq karti rahi. Uske naam se hi jo yeh rang tumhare chehre pe bikhar jaata hai, isise samajh jaana chahiye tha tum bhi uske pyar mein utni hi pagal ho jitna mera pagla beta hai."
Naina bit her lip, smiling shyly.
Vishakha leaned and placed a kiss on her forehead, "Mujhe maaf kar dena beta. Shayad maine kuch aisi baatein kahi ho jinse tumhara dil dukha hoga, par ab mujhe tumse koi shikayat nahi hai. Sameer ke liye tumse perfect ladki koi ho hi nahi sakti thi."
Naina looked at her hesitantly, "Perfect toh nahi hun mummy. Yeh sach nahi badal sakta ki main... main aap sabko woh khushi kabhi nahi de paungi jo aapko chahiye."
Vishakha pressed her hands, "Khushi toh humein Ayush se bhi mil rahi hai Naina. Aur agar tum chaho toh ek aur bachha adopt kar lena, mujhe koi problem nahi hai. Ek kya, main toh ek dozen bachhon ki dadi banne ko bhi taiyar hun."
Naina chuckled, a relief spreading through her... the weight of her hidden yesterdays was off her shoulders.
Vishakha looked at her proudly. This simple, small girl had fought her way through a tunnel of darkness, into the light. She was also proud of her son's choice.
Getting up, she took Naina in a warm hug, stroking her hair, "Main bas yeh chahti hun tum dono khush raho, hamesha. aur koi khayal apne dil mein mat aane dena. Jo beet gaya, uske baadal aapne aaj pe mat aane dena. Ayush tum dono ka beta tha, aur hamesha rahega."
